  1. To go along with the topic of the day.... What if Martin Brody didn't hit the oxygen tank with his gun?
  2. I dont believe there may be a right or wrong call when determining a strike zone call. That part of baseball is extremely subjective.
  3. Well then consider this scenario 1. Ben Sheets is healthy and pitching well, ERA around 3.2 or so 2. Its the middle of June and the Brewers are about 10 games over .500 and in 1st place 3. Chris Capuano has rebounded with an ERA around or below 4 4. Gallardo is pitching awesome 5. No contract extension talks with Sheets 6. Josh Beckett, Chien Ming Wang or other major pitcher goes down for the year Suppose the Yanks or Red Sox come calling asing for Sheets? Despite us playing very well I would still consider doing it. Desperate teams tend to make desperate decisions. I would never say never even if the Brewers are still in the race.
  4. Of the major sports I have to believe that basketball is by far the hardest. It is probably the most subjective of the sports. Baseball might be the easiest because for the most part it is cut and dry. Obviously strike zones vary for different umps and your lucky if there is one close call on the basepaths each game. Football I really don't think would be that tough, just because the officials are much anonymous than other refs. And it seems penalties are blatantly obvious in football as well. I dont know enough about soccer or hockey to say whether officiating would be tough. I have reffed basketball before and it is amazing how pissed people can get at you. you also seem to hear much more officiating horrow stories in basketball than in any other sport
  5. Ill that I can remember of Gabe Gross playing defense is that one game late in the year when he slipped and fell on his butt. I cant remember what game it was but I can remember being incredily pissed after the game.
  6. I would also say Plasma. Up by me you can get up to $240 a month. So in like a month and a half youll have your money to go to Boston
  7. Payoff credit cards for sure. Its been long overdue, I filed my taxes on Wednesday and I am getting way more than I thought I would. $2,400 from federal and $1,100 from state. When your in college, aren't rich, and dont have time for a job, you can rack up that credit card debt quick. It will be an amazing feeling after I pay them off. I was thinking about taking a little chunck and getting a season ticket package, but I am undecided on that. It would have to be a weekend package and I am afraid that Ill have to full of a schedule to make it down to Milwaukee for the games
  8. I cant seem to figure out the differences between the yes's and the no's. I feel like a friggin idiot. Maybe Bill just doesnt want to me a Yes man?
  9. I dont understand who you can have an accidental overdose. I dont know how you can accidentally take 20 pills or whatever. Do they just fly into your mouth? I wouldnt have a clue how many pills you would actually have to take to die, but I can imagine its a lot more than any normal person would think to take. EDIT: And come one any rational person would know better than to take all the different drugs he took, I mean seriously, this just doesnt pass the smell test if you ask me. Maybe he was in one screwed up state of mind or whatever but his doctor had to have said not to mix all that crap together
  10. Boston will get whats coming to them. They can't stay on top for this long without one painful downfall sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. I hate that Boston accent as well. I pretty much like the entire east coast. I think for the most part midwesterners are just different from the east coast types. Sometimes I think that east coasters still think of us as hillbillies, but that is based on just a couple of people that I talk to on a half way consistent basis.
  11. I like LePay. If he is an anouncer for UW he should be biased in my opinion. He shows a lot of emotion, I like that in an announcer Touchdown Wisconsin!!!!!
  12. I always liked Keith Jackson doing football games. I think Al Michaels does a pretty good job as well. I am not a huge fan of anyone over at ESPN but I really like the intensiry that Dickie V brings. I am not really in love with any of the baseball TV guys. Some are good but not so good that I remembered they called the game. I think Troy Aikman is decent but I hate Joe Buck. Dont get me started on Kasper or Brenly.
  13. Isn't it that time of year where supposedly every MLB player has lost 15 punds? I'll believe it when I see it. Bonser looked like a white Ruben Quevedo last year, although with much more talent
  14. I wouldnt mind going after Sabathia in FA even though in all likelihood we wouldnt have a prayer. That contract also would help us sign our young guys. This is of course assuming we let go of Sheets. However that being said my priorities before the beginning of the 2009 would be: 1. Extend Fielder 2. Extend Hart 3. Extend Weeks 4. Extend Hardy 5. Sign a pitcher in the $13-15M a year range (Obviously has to be worth it) 6. Resign Sheets 7. Sign Sabathia ($17M + a year) I would under no circumstances trade for Sabathia at the deadline. The Indians arent going to trade him and it is essential the the Crew keeps its farm system fully loaded because reloading will inevitably be necessary in say 4 years (notice I didnt say rebuild)
  15. Stetter was incredibly impressive in the AFL. That is why I would be fairly confident in him as a 2nd loogy. I think he was just freaking out when he was with the Crew for that limited time. As long as he is only used against lefties, I like it. I think he would get annhilated against righties though
  16. I think Gagne should come out to Hannah Montana. In all serious both Turnbow's and Gagne's songs were terrible and it wasnt helped by the game they put on the scoreboard while this is happening. I am not a huge fan of Welcome to the Jungle, so I hope he changes it up. Hells Bells is just awesome.
  17. even though I live in Fond du Lac, I might actually have to agree with you. It is amazing how many people still think they are in high school, the bar scene is terrible basically because people are idiots and think way way to highly of themselves. To qoute "Well I was 2nd team all conference back in 1985 so you can just go ___ yourself" And so on and so forth. I would assume all cities have those type of people though
  18. Well growing up in Fond du Lac County I obviously have to say that the Alto Fair is a HUGE tourist attraction http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Walleye weekend is pretty fun to.
  19. Its not like Bedard is the pinnacle of healthiness. He has never thrown 200 innings in a year, and in only one year did he make more than 30 starts. I would say there would be some risk, 2007 may have certianly been a brekout year for sure, but he could back to his old 4 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, .250 BAA he had his previous 3 years. That is still pretty good but not dominant good. That being said I would still take him in a heartbeat. He will be turning 29 this year so he still has a lot of good years ahead of him. I would never give up Gallardo for him but I would think about Parra or Villenueva
  20. Capuano, Bush, Gamel, Escobar, Jeffress, and one other prospect. Since we will be reloading our farm system this coming June (Although at lower levels) I would be fine with trading away some prospects. Since in all likelihood we wont need a new bumper crop of prospects to come to Milwaukee for atleast 2-4 years
  21. I really dont like this from the Twins end especially if the Yanks were really offering Hughes. I just dont know if any of those prospects will be bonafide big time players.
  22. I think murder rates are a useless way of evaluating crime levels simply because less and less people are dying as a result of gun shot wounds due to advancements in medicine. No doubt that crime is a major problems in Milwaukee and I am very thankful that I live no where near a high crime area. And not to make this political but all the "anti snitching" policies and what not make me pretty sick. Its like these people in high crimes areas dont give a crap about the world they are raising thier kids in.
  23. One perk is that I know the right people at my job. This often results in free Badger Bball, Football, and hockey tickets as well as Brewers tickets (10 rows up behind the visitor dugout) and Packer tickets.
  24. That trade sucked because we lost Davis, I could care less that we traded Eveland. But I am happy for Estrada, he is now going to a place with absolutely no expectations of being a contender so his laziness will go largely un noticed.
  25. Now as long as Santana stays in the AL.... As for this trade who knows. We wont know if this is a good or bad trade until at least 3 eyars from now
