  1. Yeah Monday is going to be awesome. There will be a lot of red at Brewers opening day and I imagine this will make tailgaiting even more awesome
  2. I can't believe UW is playing for the national championship. They played a hell of a game; rebounding was huge and defense was huge down the stretch. They got a break on the Hayes put back but they also got screwed on that no call on the flagrant
  3. Starting to get excited for tomorrow. If they somehow win it might be my favorite WI sports moment of all time; even more than the Packers winning the Super Bowl. You kind of expect the Packers to have a shot most years; with UW this opportunity might come once every 10 years or so. I still kind of expect them to lose but I am trying to stay as optimistic as possible. It probably will take a great shooting night and really strong contributions from guys like Koenig, Jackson, Gasser, and Dukan to pull it out. I don't think Kentucky is going to let Kaminsky and Dekker beat them. Dekker has the athletic ability to beat his defender but I can imagine Kaminsky having difficulty if Cauley-Stein is guarding him. Frank's pump fakes and pivot foot better be awesome tomorrow.
  4. That article just put my expectations through the roof for Medeiros and Harrison; of course that means they will probably disappoint. I am also optimistic for Gatewood, but obviously he is going to take a while.
  5. Funny enough is I could see each and every one of those relievers being successful in MLB. Lots of good arms.
  6. Denson seems like he hasn't gotten a hit yet this spring. Lots of 0-3's in his batting line so far.
  7. After the last couple of years I was kind of hoping we were done with Schafer being on the team. After he goes 1 for his first 20 or whatever I am sure we will see somebody else up. I really would have preferred Clark but understanding position wise he doesn't fit in the greatest. I am glad Schafer and Herrera will be the 25th man because yuck.
  8. In 2017, Monte Harrison could conceivably play CF. We don't have all our eggs in one basket hoping Taylor replaces Gomez. Melvin made a comment after trading Gallardo that he was sick of losing guys for basically nothing; so it would not shock me at all if he is traded this offseason regardless of how 2015 went. A lot of that will depend on how the prospects did this year though. If Gomez has a good 2015; that trade haul could be franchise transforming; perhaps even moreso if he is traded this July. I don't want that to happen; but if the Brewers suck I absolutely want Gomez traded as well as Lohse, Broxton, and anyone else not named Braun, Lucroy or the young SP.
  9. I agree on Happ, everything I have heard says he will step in right away; but he will be undersized at the C position. Dearing I don't know about. He seems like has a lot of athletic ability but I have no idea how capable of a player he is right now. They do have some very good players coming in, Pritzl might be the best shooter on the team from Day #1, Thomas & Iverson are both athletic and good all around players, and Illikainen is a big guy that has some skill. I don't know if Bo has a back up plan for a different big guy since he still has one available scholarship. They will have a bunch of guys around 6'7" to 6'9" so its not like they will be incredibly small; but I can't remember the last time they didn't have that legitimate 6'10" to 7'0" guy on the roster. It will be challenging to fill out a lineup beyond Koenig, Hayes, and Happ next year. Showalter, Brown, Dearing, Pritzl, Thomas, Iverson, and Illikainen could probably all conceivably start. I would guess a lot more guys will play next year.
  10. I have heard the old Under Armour vs. Reebok thing might have something to do with it as well. Or maybe he just decided he would like to get out of the state for college. Who knows. Maybe he knows Dekker is leaving this year and feels he has a better chance to win at Maryland. Sitting back and thinking about; the amount of hype over this kid in the last 4 years doesn't really make a whole lot of sense when he very likely will be a one and done. Hardy seems worth it. That being said I gladly would have taken him on the team.
  11. It will be interesting to see what exactly the Badger lineup will look like next year. There will be a ton of turnover that's for sure. Assuming Dekker goes pro; UW will have to starters (Koenig and Hayes) and two role players (Showalter & Brown) that saw any meaningful court time at all. Bo will be relying on atleast 3-4 guys next year that have never played at the NCAA level. Not getting ahead of myself here though; still savoring an outstanding year that hopefully ends with a win a week from today. A Brewers opening day win followed by a UW National Title would be all kinds of awesome. Might be my favorite sports day ever.
  12. UW can beat Kentucky; UW has more offensive weapons and more diverse than ND who darn near beat them. It will take a good shooting night and I am not sure how they stop Towns. I wouldn't bet on UW beating Kentucky but yesterday was the 4th game this year that that COULD have lost. Props to them for winning all of them but they aren't invincible. It should be a great game and it was one a lot of CBB fans were hoping for. Hoping MSU loses today; just because I don't want a B10 team to take away from the accomplishments of UW. Cheering really hard for Gonzaga today. Dekker almost has to declare for the draft after that regional; he was awesome
  13. What an incredible night of basketball. UW might have played the best half of offensive basketball in history. If not for thie fouling in the 2nd half the game wouldn't have been close. Dekker played incredible and made it more iikely he leaves this year. Kentucky just barely survives against ND. Kentucky will be favored against UW and rightfully so; but I do think UW can beat them. I certainly wouldn't bet on that. Kaminsky will have is hands full with Towns and cannot get in foul trouble. This is obviously the highest badger basketball has ever been; they have been a ton of fun to watch. Hopefully they put up a good fight next Saturday.
  14. Even if it wasn't grades, he is just an 18 year old kid and adults shouldn't be getting mad about his college choice. Twitter is kind of embarrassing. UW will certainly be just fine without him. It does create a hole at C next year; although I assume Happ will probably step in there. Really would be nice to have Dekker back now. Koenig and Hayes are great and Showalter is serviceable; but Bo would be relying on atleast 4 guys who never played this year to be in the rotation next year. I am sort of glad its over; he has been hyped up for about 5 years now; all for 1 or 2 years tops playing at the college level. I would have preferred him pick a non B10 school; but whatever
  15. I don't know that Bo has played a minute of zone in his entire career. I would put Gasser on the freshman Stanley; he will make him miserable. Arizona doesn't have a great post game; very athletic but not really good finishers. The key is to stop McConnell, Stanley, and York. I think Gasser can handle whomever he is guarding but Koenig and Jackson will have their hands full with McConnell. York can be deadly too; I might put Gasser on him if he is in the game. Kaleb T, Jefferson, and Ashley are all extremely athletic but the only guy with any ability outside of 5 feet is Ashley and he isn't spectacular by any means. Limit their 3 point makes and UW will most likely win.
  16. Hayes definitely needs some more work. Kind of crazy that this team currently has perhaps 4 potential NBA players if you include Koenig and Hayes. We are definitely getting spoiled with the success of the team the last couple years; just sit back and soak it in because who knows how often UW basketball will be in this position. Saturday's game is going to be tough as hell. But really every game from here on out will be. UW could face the gauntlet of Arizona, Kentucky, and Duke if they keep winning. Only the 3 best teams in the country other than UW. It will be disappointing if they lose to Arizona but man they have had one heck of a run and are probably the best team UW has ever had. And I am just not sure if Wisconsin or anyone else can really beat Kentucky. You sure as hell don't try doing what West Virginia did. It would seem UW's style would lend to a close game. A limited amount of possessions and minimal turnovers could at least make the game close to the end. UW doesn't get blown out by anybody; if they can have a lights out shooting game maybe they have a chance but I would expect to lose going against them.
  17. It really is hard to make the big leagues; even though Jungmann and Bradley have taken longer to develop than hoped; they won't be complete busts if they can make it and contribute on some level. Even for 1st rounders it just isn't easy to make the big show in any role let alone a star.
  18. If Dekker wants to leave I think someone will draft him in the middle to late 1st round. The question is does he want to leave or does he want to stick around like Kaminsky did. I have to believe his stock is rising right now. Selfishly I want him to stick around; a potential lineup of Koenig, Dekker, Hayes, Stone and some SG could be pretty darn good next year. But I won't fault the kid for cashing in if that is what he wants to do. He still needs to work on his shot; but an NBA team will draft him knowing that shot is a work in progress.
  19. UW keeps winning despite shooting the 3 terribly. One of these games...... Showalter with a couple big plays and if Kaminsky broke out in the tourney last year; Dekker might be breaking out this year. He kept us in the game. Need better games from Koenig and Hayes on Saturday
  20. Harrison I would definitely like and Gatewood and Medeiros could use a full season squad for sure. But the latter two really showed they needed some work based on their performance last year; I don't want them to be in over their heads.
  21. I have only 9 of my sweet 16 left primarily because I got the entire east region wrong. Villanova, Virginia, Providence, and Northern Iowa. Ouch. With Meeks probably being out the Badgers should be favored in this game. UNC does have a ton of athletic ability and have been playing pretty good of late; it certainly won't be easy. UW should be able to score and since UW doesn't allow a ton of transition points since they don't turn it over I feel pretty good. I wouldn't be shocked if UNC won though. Badgers clearly have the toughest road of anyone to the championship. They likely need to beat perennial powers UNC, Arizona, and Kentucky just to make the final. IF UW somehow wins this thing they sure has heck earned it. I won't be disappointed if they don't win the whole thing; but I really want them to get a crack at Kentucky.
  22. We will be down for 2.5 or 3 days; at this point I will try to hit up as many of Organ Piper, AJ Bombers, Downtown Kitchen, and Sweet Dreams as I can. They all seem like places my girls would enjoy. Selfishly I would also like to find a nice place; but it can be a real hassle taking 2 and 4 year olds to a nice place and have them not be a distraction. Maybe I can convince my soon to be retired mother in law to come down to Milwaukee for a night so just the wife and I could go out. I am thinking a nice Japanese/sushi place if that happens. I agree on Tundra Lodge; it was a great vacation. Bay Beach was fun and incredibly cheap and Green Bay has a nice Children's Museum as well. Took a tour of Lambeau and had some good food. I would do that trip again. Titletown Brewing Company and A'Bravo both had really good food. I also hit up Joe's Texas BBQ for lunch one day; probably the best BBQ I have ever had although admittedly WI isn't exactly known for many good BBQ places so I have nothing to compare it too other than Famous Dave's in Appleton. A'Bravo was a nicer place and the staff there were fantastic with the girls, drinks and food were great. That place is a little off the beaten path but totally worth it.
  23. We will definitely go to Sweet Dreams and now I have two pizza places to pick from; Marty's or Organ Piper.
  24. Downtown Kitchen looks like it might be a real solid place to go for lunch when we go to Betty Brinn, good tip. No one has said anything bad about Country Springs so that is good; given the low price I was afraid it might just be a dump or in a bad area. We are willing to go out of our way if there is a awesome pizza place if anyone has recommendations; I don't know Milwaukee all that well. Doc's Dry Dock in Pewaukee has good online reviews.
  25. I am taking the family on a mini vacation in July down to Milwaukee. Staying at the Country Springs Hotel & Waterpark in Waukesha and going to a Brewer game, County Zoo, and Betty Brinn Children's Museum. Any good family friendly places in that area (Within 15 minutes or so)? Like most kids; my little girls love their cheeseburgers and pizzas. Probably look at going to one halfway expensive place (maybe average entrée is $20-25) and one cheap burger/pizza joint. On that same token, has anyone ever been to this hotel? I was hoping to find a waterpark for the kiddos that isn't nuts like the Wisconsin Dells. We went to Tundra Lodge in Green Bay last year. It appears this is a relatively new place; water park looks a lot bigger than Tundra Lodge. $115/night including waterpark passes just seems really cheap. That is like $250 or $300 in the Dells.
