  1. Hello strangers. I live down in Houston now, broke down and got MLB.tv and was wondering when the rain delay would lift... and then I remembered, my old pals at Brewerfan would never let me down. Go Crew!
  2. "Nothing is working right now with a lot of the guys," Hart said. "We're trying to see pitches and see what we can do. ... I'm not going to sit there and walk, though. I'll eventually find it, and hopefully we'll still be in it." Hart's postgame comments. As a player, I like him and hope he can return to form next year (or this weekend) but the whole "I'm not just going to sit there and walk" thing is about as lame as it gets if you ask me.
  3. It blows my gourd that only a week ago, I honestly didn't know if I'd be able to watch another brewer game again this year. I mean, just absolutely broken. I started getting pulled back in with Fielder's walk-off-strip-off, but Braun sealed the deal tonight. If that makes me a bandwagoner than so be it - but I will be yelling tomorrow.
  4. Hey Chicago, whaduya say? The cubs are going to win today. (repeat thousands of times as necessary) I can't get the song out of my head. They played it OVER and OVER after the game. They sang it walking out of the stadium. They sang it on the streets. They sang it on the El. They will no doubt be singing it in my nightmares for years to come. My vent exceeds simple annoyance. The song doesn't even make sense. At the point that the song is always played, the Cubs have already won.
  5. Today was my first time at Wrigley. 2008 is over for me. I have tickets to next Friday's game, so I don't know exactly how to approach that. I think I'll go, have fun in the parking lot with friends and beer, and then bring a score card into the game to keep me occupied. I have no desire to emotionally follow this team for the rest of the year. That doesn't mean I don't think they can eek into the playoffs, but it won't change anything for me if they do. I've enjoyed my season's-worth of joys and crotch-punches. I am officially emotionally disconnected until 2009, and it's more than a little relieving.
  6. I'm scared that this is distracting from the series with the Mets or the fact that the brewers have won 8 of 9 during the highest winning month in Brewer history. I wish Sabathia would have fielded it cleanly (and then who knows what would have happened for the remainder of the game) but short of that, I would have rather LaRoche have lined a double to left so the uncertainty wouldn't be there. Regardless of whether the scoring is overturned or not, I expect this game to have a special niche in MLB folk-lore.
  7. In a span of minutes, Pujols went from respected by me to archnemisis level.
  8. I lost A LOT of respect for Pujols tonight. And then even more after reading those pretentious quotes on TH's blog.
  9. That pic of David Looks like it was taken from A college brochure.
  10. Villanueva sure seemed to annoy Albert. I love rivalries.
  11. Are you willing to propose a maximum on owner's profits? Why should they make more than six figures? I'd be ok with that. I realize that owners may become less inclined to take the risk of owning a team, but I'm sure MLB could set a pretty generous gauranteed salary for owners through the use of revenue sharing. Plus if you make it so that any money made by MLB over the top of that would go straight to a selection of charities, owners and players couldn't complain too loudly.
  12. Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.
  13. My last name is Camann, commonly mispronounced like the island chain, which led to the eventual nickname of "Islands." AC are my initials and were added because Islands was already taken.
  14. 1) I say get a system in place to enact a maximum salary and then gradually lower it until it is in the $200,000 range. I've always thought this and would be curious to hear an argument as to why any entertainer needs to make more money than that (not why it won't happen, but why it shouldn't happen). Would the allure of young kids dreaming of one day playing baseball be any less? If there were a max salary across the board in the six figures, I could imagine a decent amount of players refusing to play. Refuse to cave and bring in the next wave of eager ballers. We would miss the stars for a season or two but then we would have a whole new generation of stars (or they would realize they want to play again, boom). I realize the players union would never allow it and that the free market dictates the salaries, but I've always seen the amount of money being thrown around in professional sports as a sick joke. Plus I can change any 5 things I want... 2) Cheaper beer at the stadium 3) Since the brewers likely will only play one or two doubleheaders a year, put a couple more into the schedule, becuase doubleheaders are awesome. 4) Mic the umps and coaches like the little league world series (and heck, throw in the little "Favorite movie, favorie food, etc" graphic for all the players too) 5) I wish teams would get in line and shake hands with the opposing team after every game. I realize that making it a requirement would somewhat defeat the purpose - I just wish it was a classy baseball tradition.
  15. Can anyone not relate to that?
  16. Who among us can't relate to that?
  17. Am I missing something? The brewers are tied. Plus, isn't this usually when Soup settles in to retire 12 of the next 13 or something? I hope you are right but so far he has absolutely nothing. If my math is correct then Soup did, in fact, just retire 12 of the next 13. What a ridiculously lucky stab in the dark.
  18. I was just going to post the same thing. Not just a typo either - consitent with walk's and run's.
  19. I tend to agree with this, but all's well that ends well, I suppose.
  20. Soup is overpaid, yes. Before he went on the DL he was downright terrible, yes. But all this Soup hatred is literally blowing my mind. Unless the pitcher spot comes up in a big situation, I can't imagine he will be taken out of the game, nor should he.
  21. I really like Cirillo in the booth. I remember thinking the same thing when he had that wrist injury a few years back and spent a couple innings up in the booth. I haven't gotten a chance to see him in his Brewers Live role, but I really enjoy his baseball insight more than Rock's.
