  1. 50 million records sold, 7 Grammy Awards, two of the most iconic albums of the 1990's, and a notable appearance on "The Simpsons". Yeah, nobody's ever heard of them...http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  2. MLB - Jon Miller NBA - Pretty much all the guys on TNT are good - Harlan's my favorite. The caveat here is that I don't care much for the NBA at all, but Harlan (and to a lesser extent, Marv Albert) can make a game more compelling to me. College sports - Musberger/Lavin/Erin Andrews are great. So is Lundquist/Raftery. Gus Johnson, obviously....CBS should pair him with a better color guy though (like Jay Bilas). For football, I like Lundquist/Danielson on CBS the most, it just sucks that they call SEC games that I don't care about. They always make jokes about going out to the bars and getting plowed. Nessler/Griese is good too. Herbstreit is annoying, which disappoints me because I like Musberger so much. Best of all time was Musberger/Danielson with sideline reports from Jack Arute.
  3. I just think that for an SB halftime performance to be memorable, there has to be a "WOW" factor from a visual standpoint and not just be the band standing there playing songs. For example, during Prince's set when they dropped that huge white curtain and it was a silhouette of him playing his guitar....that was just cool to look at. Or with U2 - forget the screen with all the 9/11 names, the coolest thing to me was the stage setup (which they kind of used again on the Vertigo tour) that allowed Bono to sprint out into the crowd and be surrounded by the masses of people. If he had just stayed up on the main stage with the rest of the band members for the whole set, it would have been boring. So, in essence, I think you need the show to look cool and it also helps if the band is young-ish (comparatively speaking - i.e. U2, Prince are of a different generation than Rolling Stones and McCartney) and they interact with the crowd. I think there are a number of bands that could pull it off - Foo Fighters, The Killers, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers are the ones that first come to my mind that would have the broad popular appeal necessary to headline.
  4. I always thought the best closer song would be "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth ("now you're messing with a....a son of a b----!!!) but unfortunately it's not family-friendly.
  5. (then again, I'd just love to see someone like The Killers do a SB halftime). Seconded.? I would love to see the Killers do an SB halftime show and I think they would bring the house down. For my money, this is as good as it gets.? A lot of it has to do with the time frame (4 months after 9/11) and the emotions that many of us were feeling, but the performance was sublime.
  6. You could replace the word "hockey" with "the NBA", and the joke would be just as effective.
  7. To clarify (and in part to cover my own ass because I didn't look at last year's numbers http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif), I was more excited about the balance of the lineup if Cameron and Hall live up to their PECOTA numbers. I didn't think JJ's power numbers last year were sustainable so his slight decrease doesn't worry me. Not sure that I agree with PECOTA about Fielder, but I could see Braun taking a dip in his sophomore season if pitchers are able to study him more and exploit his weaknesses.

  11. Just looking at the OPS projections makes me want to drool (aside from Kendall). Imagine this lineup: Weeks - .822 Cameron - .849 Fielder - .944 Braun - .942 Hart - .886 Hall - .817 Hardy - .770 Kendall - .645 (blah) Try pitching to that!

  15. Has anyone ever seen the SNL sketch where they tell Chris Farley that he is on a hidden camera and that the coffee he was drinking is really decaf, and then he flips out?? I always thought it would be funny to do something similar, i.e. feign anger, point directly into the camera and start mouthing swear words. Whatever I would do, it would be the opposite of this guy:
  16. I've got one as well. Very happy with the purchase so far. Used to have a Creative Zen and Napster but it was ridiculously hard to sync my songs to the device. I subscribe to the Zune music store, so for $15/mo I get unlimited downloads. Hopefully they keep working on adding to their collection...a couple months ago the entire Led Zeppelin catalog was made available, and I see that Radiohead is now on there as well (only for MP3 purchase at the moment, unfortunately, but it's a start). Pretty much every major artist is there, though. If there is ever an artist that I can't find (Tool, Sinatra, etc.) I use "alternative methods" to get the songs I need. I figure I would probably buy a CD every month for $15 anyway. This allows me to carry around over 5000 songs (and growing!) and it would be inconceivable for me to build a collection like that with iTunes.
  17. Brian Westbrook's decision to sit at the 1-yard line instead of score a TD just cost me a fantasy win. Thankfully, I clinched a spot in our playoffs so it's not going to kill my season or anything, but I'm still a little miffed.
  18. Brian, just because they don't tell you the consequences, doesn't mean that there are no consequences. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. If I recall correctly, the "straw that broke the camel's back" was a sketch where Dana was doing an impression of Bill Clinton, and he opened up his shirt and had 8 nipples (like a dog) and was feeding a bunch of babies. This is what we considered "racy" in the mid-90s? It was a sham. That show was hilarious and never should have gotten cancelled. But of course, you've got fanatics that get offended by anything ("he's our president, you can't do that!") so unfortunately, comedy suffers as a result.
  20. This one is still my favorite... http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/multimedia/img/may05/wallpaper/jenk800.jpg
  21. Burnt the roof of my mouth on a Tombstone pizza last night (drunk). Very irritating.
  22. Acquiring Joe Buck would be a disgusting act, and I'm sorry we had to show that to you... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Don't get mad...get even. When your old customers call you, convince them to take their business elsewhere. You don't have to go into the specifics about your situation, but tell them the company is suffering from poor management and hasn't been doing enough to best service its customers. Hit 'em in the pocketbook.
  24. It's a little confusing how this happened. Don't all of the MLB teams use the same ticketing platform? I can't imagine that the demand was that much more than people going for Cubs tickets on the morning they go on sale.
  25. Kind of off-topic, but has anyone modded their Wii? I've never used a modchip with a system before, and definitely wouldn't be able to do it myself because my soldering skills are non-existent. But despite the legality and such, it sounds really appealing.
