  1. Crap....Brian stole my post. Plan B should be, "There once was a man named Enos...."
  2. http://www.kazlaaz.com/goalies/tips/ready02.jpg
  3. UW-Madison, Finance, 2003. I too worked in the cafeteria (Pop's Club) but managed to make it through 3 years without ever working the hot food line. Mainly cashier and dish room, with a couple times manning the sandwich bar. Could have been worse. My last year of school I worked for the State Records Center over by the DOT, scanning SeniorCare applications and pulling files.
  4. I think billyhallfan meant that even if the Brewers won the coin toss, Miller Park would be inundated with Cubs fans. Not good times!
  5. Diskono, that wouldn't necessarily prevent a draft for the rights to pursue a contract with the player. The example that comes to mind is Evgeni Malkin. He was under contract with a team in Russia and there was a big controversy about him reneging on the deal. But the Penguins didn't have to outbid the Rangers or Red Wings for his services......they were the only NHL team that could sign him. It's pretty much the same way with every Euro player that gets drafted in the NBA.
  6. "It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man." -- Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey.
  7. There used to be an 80's sports car (Trans Am, Firebird, or something like that) which was always parked outside of the Budget Bicycle Center on Regent St. in Madison. License Plate? V HALEN Awesome.
  8. This one's simple....kick Hugh off the team. Problem solved. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Seriously though, that's kind of tough. I've never been a coach so I don't have a frame of reference, but I would keep pushing their buttons until they break. Make it a point that they need you (for playing time, instruction, etc.) a lot more than you need them. Make them run sprints if they show up an umpire during a game. Pinch-hit for them in key situations or platoon them. And if the parents ask questions, tell them EXACTLY why you're doing it. Don't kick anyone off the team, but if they want to quit, so be it. No need to tolerate a clubhouse cancer. Just my two cents, not being a coach before, but that kind of behavior bothers me as much as it sounds like it bothers you.
  9. She wasn't a minor, and the pictures were taken by sports journalists covering the track meet, not by some perv. They're public domain (copyright issues aside). I don't see a way around this unless all news outlets decided to only run text (no pics) about high school athletic events, which is frankly impossible.
  10. Gotta disagree here. You need to give your team a chance to reach the 12th (by driving in the tying run) before you start thinking about hypotheticals like this. It's way more important to force extra innings than worry about what might happen later on. So a pitcher has to hit.....oh well, they're from the NL, they're used to it....maybe not so much the relievers, but they take BP too.
  11. Meh. She was 18, otherwise Deadspin and With Leather wouldn't have run the photo. I guess I can sympathize a little bit since it was a press photo and not something that she put online herself (like a Facebook photo album), but at the same time.....it was a press photo. Once it's published, what can you do?
  12. My friends and I are going out, but we're probably just going to try and scalp. I'm a die-hard Badger fan, but if I can't find anything that suits my price range, I'm content to watch the game on the big screen at Caesar's.
  13. I think Tiger Wang is considered an aphrodisiac in some cultures.
  14. In my opinion, this is why Sam Raimi did such a great job with the Spider-Man franchise. Sure, everyone knows the story behind the characters if they read the comic books as a child. But is that any reason to try and create a completely different plot/environment? No. People want to see the cartoons/comic books they read as a child brought to life. Disclaimer: I have not seen the movie. I did pop in the DVD's I have of Gen 1, Season 1 last night though, and there is so much good material that could have been easily woven into a visually-stunning movie, given today's special effects technology. You're telling me you couldn't fill 2 hours with the following scenes (modernized with amazing visuals)? 1. Wheeljack and Bumblebee getting chased by Decepticons on Cybertron 2. Intergalactic battle aboard the Ark 3. Ark crashing into volcano 4. Battle above Sherman Dam (Prime and Megatron dueled for 2 minutes in the cartoon, but in a movie you could stretch this out to at least a 10-15 minute fight scene). Just my opinion, I guess, but they could have taken the 3-part "More Than Meets The Eye" premiere episode and stretched it out into an awesome live-action film. Then use the obviously forthcoming sequel to introduce Dinobots, Constructicons, etc.
  15. I thought they lowered the mound after the ridiculous pitching in 1968 (Gibson 1.12 ERA)?
  16. The funny thing to me is that if his name was Antonio Wynn, nobody would care this much. His dad was a Hall of Famer.....great. So was Dale Berra's.
  17. Ralph, I think I was there in 1998 too (it took place after your junior year of HS, right?) Anyway, the best part of the week was when they left the PA machine in our city's dormitory by mistake (after they had used it to align us in the shape of Wisconsin for that picture). We proceeded to play Adam Sandler's "They're All Going To Laugh At You" over the PA.....you could hear it clear across campus. Good times.
  18. This is a matter of opinion, though. Personally, I was OK with picking Jordan. When "SportsCentury" premiered, you had to know that the top 3 were going to be Ruth, Ali, and Jordan, it was just a matter of what order they were going to be in.
  19. I'm a terrible gambler. Edit: He totally puked, no question.
  20. I'm voting Bill Pullman in '08.
  21. Well, we're about an hour away from the annual celebration of gluttony. I'm glad that Kobayashi did not have to go on the DL - we'll have to see if this jaw injury will effect him in competition. The wagering site I use had the following props available: Over 58 dogs (-120) Under 58 dogs (-120) Chestnut (-250) Kobayashi (+175) The Field (-900) I put 25 bucks on the under. Betting on competitive eating? Like Yakov Smirnoff said, "What a country!"
  22. Question - isn't it possible that the team picked a generic looking picture for the cover? That way, if a player was traded mid-season, they wouldn't have to re-design the program. What I'm getting at is that while these may have been modeled after Sheffield, Yount, and Cooper, there is a reason why you can't be certain.
  23. I thought Hall's 2nd catch (9th inning, 2nd out) was better than every Web Gem they showed on Baseball Tonight. Once again, Bristol falls asleep.
  24. Seconded. Some people don't get his schtick, but I was a huge Late Late Show fan and I think he would be great on TPIR. He was sort of a "friend of the show", as the late Rod Roddy made several guest appearances on Late Late.
  25. Chelios used to be my favorite player, before he signed with Detroit. That would be like Favre signing with the Vikings. Actually, take that back.....that would be like Favre GROWING UP IN GREEN BAY, playing a Hall of Fame career with the Packers, and signing with the Vikings.
