  1. Although I did laugh a couple of times at Mean Girls, I will always be anti-Tina Fey. Her tenure as head writer at SNL was abhorrent. The most obvious example was how poor Weekend Update became when she hosted with that no-talent hack Jimmy Fallon. Compare this to Norm, Dennis Miller, or even Kevin Nealon. Maybe they just couldn't keep up with the stuff Jon Stewart was doing with the news, I don't know. But it was generally just a bunch of lame jokes directed at high-schoolers. In conclusion, Jim Downey was awesome. End of rant.
  2. He had a very good 3-year stretch from 2002-2004. I don't think that's going to be enough to get him into the Hall of Fame. Gagne stats
  3. They usually play: "I Saw Her Standing There" by The Beatles and "Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations
  4. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  5. More proof that Lasorda is a loser: Lasorda likes the ladies Note: If you're REALLY interested, do a google search for excerpts from the Madam's book. Let's just say it's too explicit for me to link to here.

  7. Isn't it actually the value over a replacement Starfleet officer? Ahh, that's right. I'm thinking of Worf.
  8. Brett, you really seem to have an axe to grind. Why didn't Costas "deserve" his place in broadcasting? He worked as the radio voice of the ABA team in St. Louis, and NBC saw fit to hire him for national events (presumably after a good audition). The rest is history. I'd say that Matt V's career path was pretty similar.....both parlayed smaller gigs into a network deal that provided more exposure, at a relatively young age.
  9. Dead. Splitter's right.....psychotic, but absolutely right. Now, we could fight the Cubs (and their fans) with conventional weapons, but that could take years, and cost millions of lives......
  10. zingsheim, when I click the link it just takes me to photobucket's home page.
  11. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile, and stupid gesture, to be done on somebody's part. And we're just the guys to do it: http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/sports/brew/img/jul06/hall0703.jpg
  12. Balfour......throw some strikes, for Christ's sake. http://www.rogerwendell.com/images/australiatwo/kangaroo_dead.jpg (edited image width --1992casey) ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30473
  13. Osmosis is a friend of mine (actually sat with him in sec. 237 last Sunday). Word on the street is that a "re-mix" is on the way....they're trying to find a way to ditch the Capellan line.
  14. Hart's approach at the plate over the last few games has been TERRIBLE. He's missing badly on the pitches he swings at, and almost always ends up in an 0-2 count. I'd like to see him display more discipline up there and get some good pitches to hit, instead of flailing at junk.
  15. NDOG, I humbly stand corrected.....for some reason I thought Bo was a 1st round pick both times.
  16. Murray is the best part of the show for me. The rest is hit or miss.
  17. I see your point, but I can't see any NBA teams picking him as high next year. The reason I brought up Bo Jackson earlier is that he was so awesome that he could basically tell Tampa Bay to go to hell, knowing full well that he would be picked in the same slot the following year. And it happened. Why give up the money that goes along with getting picked #6? And the argument about the Chinese about him not getting playing time in Milwaukee is laughable. Does he really expect to be the first option off the bench for an NBA team? He's going to be playing limited minutes (see: Darko Milicic, 2004) wherever he ends up.
  18. IBTL? Edit: Oops, should that actually be IBTL??????? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I highly recommend purchasing the rosters for the NCAA game from this site: www.psxsports.com/ I did this back in '03 or '04 and it was a breeze. I just mailed my memory card to the guy along with 10 bucks or so, and received it back within a week. Full rosters for all the teams.
  20. The only reason they're calling the shots for him is because they want to make money off him by marketing to Chinese-American fans. It has nothing to do with how good he is at basketball. The man had a pre-draft workout against an inanimate piece of furniture. This isn't Yao Ming. There are plenty of 6'11" guys out there. Not too many are 7'5". This is why Yao was a coveted prospect (along with the NBA's desire to tap the Asian fanbase). He's played against subpar competition in China and as much as GM's fawn over "upside", I can't see sitting out a year as a good career move. If Yao = Ichiro, Yi = So Taguchi.
  21. Stupid Melvin.....the obvious choice in this situation is to hire an Indian to help you cross the river. http://cache.boston.com/images/bostondirtdogs//Headline_Archives/4.26_CL_ap.jpg
  22. Here's the thing.....I don't really see how he has leverage. He's done jack squat in basketball. This is not comparable to John Elway or Bo Jackson, who were so ridiculously good at their respective sports that they could afford to sit out a year without affecting their draft stock. To borrow a line from Bill Simmons, all Yi has done thus far is post up a chair. And he put up halfway-decent numbers in a summer league game. Big whoop.
  23. Hey, no argument here. Although I was always curious who taught you guys how to make a pizza. I mean I like eating uncooked dough as much as the next guy, but geez.......sometimes it was like they didn't even put it in the oven. Oh yeah, and I should have added - Northwestern University, IMC program, class of 2008. And you will never see me wearing purple on that campus, ever.
  24. .....in one of the biggest hatchet jobs ever. Sean Salisbury still has a job. I was glad to see that MLB.com hired Reynolds to provide online analysis, and I'm guessing he'll have a presence on The Baseball Network when it starts up in 2009.
