  1. I don't know what's up with Jon ... last night he said he was in, then 10 minutes later asked how many are coming because he had to help someone move. I asked last night and again this morning for clarification if he was in or out, and just got a reply that if we can get a sub we should. Cryptic and frustrating. I'll contact kenny about his brother. With one sub, we would be back at 10 assuming Robin19 is in ... would feel a lot better hearing from him. I tried a PM last night.
  2. Aaron tells me he is OUT this week. We should still have 10 unless we have two more absences. I'll try to get more confirmations.... EDIT: Now Drick is out, too ... Jon confirms IN Jon texts a few minutes later about helping someone move (so he's a maybe? I'm getting clarification) ... Schubert confirms IN ... Houle, Beeks, Alan confirm IN. IN 01. valpo 02. Kenny 03. radman 04. nullbyte 05. Schubert 06. Houle 07. Beeks 08. Alan MAYBE / UNKNOWN Jon Robin OUT Aaron Drick
  3. So the 1B umpire didn't overturn his own call upon (eventually) realizing what happened? Why wouldn't he? It's pretty commonplace for an ump to signal out, then see a the ball dropped on the ground, and correct the call to safe. (Happened in a Brewers game in the last week?) The 1B ump must have realized what happened after a couple seconds ... no more than five seconds, right? Is there a statute of limitations on something as obvious as that?
  4. This has me intrigued. What goes best in a raddler? Had a few Horny Goat Watermelon Wheats this evening and enjoyed them thoroughly. The wife had Lakefront's Wisconsinite hefeweizen and a MKE's Louie's Resurrection -- loved the latter, very bourbon-y. I ought to post in this thread more often since I'm sampling multiple micro brews every week. Gotta give props to my local watering hole -- if anyone is ever in the southwest metro area, the Denoon Saloon in southern Muskego has a fantastic beer selection -- 24 craft beers on tap and always rotating. Restaurant has great food, bar is large and casual-classy, staff is professional, establishment is CLEAN. We're they're nearly twice a week to socialize, watch a little sports (it's not a sports bar), and imbibe. Other recent brews we've enjoyed include Summit's Maibock, Chameleon's Witty, MKE's O Gii, New Holland's Dragons Milk, Three Floyds' Gumballhead (mentioned above) and Three Floyds' Zombie Dust. I'm suddenly thirsty...
  5. Crap, is that official? I thought it was still leaning towards coming back. Good description ... the humor was very wry, fast-paced, dialogue-heavy, slightly physical, and pop-culture-y. Somewhat reminiscent of -- but not as genius as -- Arrested Development or, dare I say, Gilmore Girls (*ducks*). I also originally tuned in for Elisha Cuthbert (HOF greatness) but became hooked on the show's style. As for The Office, I haven't been much of a fan in a number of years. Seasons 1 and 2 were grand slams, season 3 was a home run, after that they lost me with inferior writing, inconsistent character traits, and too-elaborate plots. I watched, but only with an expectation for mild entertainment. I must admit, this season has been really well done. I was never someone who thought Michael leaving was a problem, the problems started well before that, when they broke character. And then got worse when they introduced obnoxious characters like Andy, Nellie, Spader's character, and Ferrell's character. This season proved that the show could be great without Michael, and I really enjoyed what the Pete and Clark characters added -- they could have gotten a few good years' worth of story arcs with those two in the mix. (In contrast, the Jim/Pam marital saga and unhappiness and career controversy and blah blah blah was absolutely awful.) The finale was okay. Seemed a little self-indulgent, like the writers and actors did it for themselves more than the audience. By the end, I was mostly glad it (the series) was over. I will intentionally watch season 1, 2, and 3 with great enjoyment for years to come. Seasons 4+ not so much.
  6. Ha, I was so focused on the first baseman's foot coming off the base (tough call) that I missed the throw being intercepted by another player entirely. The runner was ruled out? That's hysterical. EDIT: Why on earth would the pitcher make a stab at that throw anyways? So close to the first baseman? Weird.
  7. Call me crazy, but it actually looks like he reached for the hammy before he moved to field the ball. Might have happened on the pitch?
  8. Looks like we're on. I called the recorded message an hour ago, there were cancellations at some fields but not ours. We'll do roughly the same lineup and positions again today, but with different DHs.
  9. Yay, outs on bases. Two such outs in 60 seconds. Love the runnin Ron game plan. Gomez is a braindead dolt.
  10. It's been over an hour and a half and we're only at one out in the top of the 4th? Wha??
  11. Between this thread and text messages, I've gotten confirmation from just about everyone. Lineup: SS Schubert 3B Aaron LF Houle DH Alan RC Drick LC Beeks 1B Robin19 2B valpo RF nullbyte CC Jon DH Kenny PP Radman So, we'll esentially start with the same configuration as last year, we'll have the two new guys DH to start the game, then shake things up in the 4th inning. Probably rotate players using positions CC, 1B, 2B, RC, and RF?
  12. Nothing set in stone, just my initial thoughts below. Regarding pitching, the rec department sounded 80% sure we'd have mats behind the plate this year *AND* the plate would now be a strike -- if that's true, that should help absorb the loss of Firenick's pitching prowess. If there's a position you're interested in playing, post here or PM me or just mention it at a game. If you've told me something in a previous year, I honestly might not remember, so just remind me. Positions...? P - Radman / valpo / schubert (?) C - Jon / nullbyte / Radman / Robin19 (?) 1B - Robin19 / Kenny / nullbyte 2B - valpo / nullbyte / Robin19 (?) 3B - Aaron / Alan / valpo SS - Schubert / Houle LF - Houle / Alan LC - Beeks RC - Alan / Drick RF - Drick / Alan / nullbyte Lineup...? 01 Schubert 02 Aaron 03 Houle 04 Alan 05 Drick 06 Beeks 07 Robin19 08 valpo 09 nullbyte 10 Jon 11 Kenny 12 Radman
  13. If anyone has a bat, please bring it ... I don't have any and Houle won't be at practice.
  14. For those not familiar, Lafollette Park is in West Allis on 92nd street north of Greenfield Ave. Google maps will find it if you search. So far, I think our group is... Drick Kenny nullbyte Robin19 / rightfieldcoder Jon valpo EDIT: Oops, sorry Robin/RFC, somehow missed you the first time.
  15. I'll make the official time 10:15 because I have an appointment in the morning and that's the soonest I can get there. I'll try to get out a mass text message today or tomorrow. See y'all Saturday!
  16. Seems like an exaggeration. Isn't Lucroy .35 points higher in BA, .60 points higher in SLG, and .35 higher in OPS? I could probably agree with 'awful', but not every bit as bad as Weeks. (And that's not even factoring in Weeks' little league defense....)
  17. The exact fee for this year is $37.12 ... if you're paying by check or have exact change, that's the amount. Otherwise, an even $38 or $40 works -- be advised that I probably won't have change to give you if you're paying a cash amount like that. 37.12 = 15 [player fee] + 240/13 [team fee] + 47.52/13 [ball fee] EDIT: Revised numbers for 12 players instead of 13... The exact fee for this year is $38.96 ... if you're paying by check or have exact change, that's the amount. Otherwise, an even $39 or $40 works -- be advised that I probably won't have change to give you if you're paying a cash amount like that. 38.96 = 15 [player fee] + 240/12 [team fee] + 47.52/12 [ball fee]
  18. Sunday is Mother's Day, so I guess we're looking at Saturday this weekend? Any particular time work better for anyone? Weather permitting, of course. EDIT: Let's do 10:15-ish.
  19. Based on schedule issues, we've changed to 3:00. So far, I'm expecting the following turnout... Valpo Houle Al Alan nullbyte (maybe) Kenny (maybe) Schubert I'll try to contact everyone again just in case the new time works better for anyone. EDIT: Sounds like we've got one more, I've added tim/nullbyte to the list. Kenny is now out.
  20. So, the turnout doesn't look so good based on various feedback I've received ... 2 confirmed, 2 maybes, 5 rejections, 4 unknowns. [Y] 01. valpo [Y] 02. Kenny / bball [?] 03. radman [Y?] 04. Houlie [N] 05. Beeks [N] 06. Al [?] 07. nullbyte [N] 08. Drick [Y?] 09. Schubert [N] 10. Jon [N] 11. Aaron [?] 12. RightFieldCoder / Robin19 [?] 13. Alan I still plan on being there, unless the maybes turn to rejections and none of the unknowns turn into confirms. If it's just me an kenny I suppose we'll cancel.
  21. I sent a text message to any team member that I could find in my phone. If you didn't get it, I'll have to get your number next time I see you.
