  1. Houle tells me that Beeks is out. If Aaron is also out, we'll be a little thin, but we'll have just enough as long as everyone else is in. EDIT: False alarm? Now I'm being told that Beeks will be there afterall.
  2. Schubert just texted me to tell me he's OUT tonight due to work. Houle plans to DH tonight, I think? Possible alignment for tonight... 01. LC Beeks 02. DH Houle 03. LF Drick (Dnye) 04. 3B Aaron 05. 1B Brian (Rightfieldcoder) 06. SS Valpo 07. CC Radman 08. PP Firenick (Packfan) 09. RC Al 10. RF Jon 11. 2B nullbyte
  3. So, we're going with "Thorny" as the nickname, eh? http://blogs.philadelphiaweekly.com/style/files/2009/03/arcot-ramathorn.jpg MOTHER OF GOD
  4. I love how Aoki gives the extra effort to position himself behind nearly every fly ball he catches. At least with runners on. Always prepares himself for a throw. Stark contrast to Hart's lazy back-peddling and flat-footed throws.
  5. Houle says he needs to DH due to an injury. So with that in mind... 01. LC Beeks 02. SS Schubert 03. DH Houle 04. LF Drick (Dnye) 05. 3B Aaron 06. 1B Brian (Rightfieldcoder) 07. RF nullbyte 08. 2B Valpo 09. DH Radman 10. PP Firenick (Packfan) 11. LC Al 12. CC Jon
  6. Booo! I'm getting sick of something that is supposed to be such a special baseball feat becoming so commonplace. Just dilutes the magic. This is now SIX perfect games since 2009, if you count Galarraga's ... FIVE if you want to get technical and not count it. Either way, it's disgusting to see it become so common. A shame.
  7. Bullpens are crap shoots. When you "hit" and Parra is looking good with a quick inning, I have no idea why you would take the risk to dabble with new odds and throw a few more relievers into the mix in the next inning. Just be glad you got Parra on a good night, and ride him until he looks shakey. Cripes, it's an extra innings game and he's a former starter, you might need him for three innings and he stands a decent chance of giving it to you after that dominant first inning. Why get cute and roll the dice for no reason??
  8. This is exactly what Grady Little was thinking in '03. And it rightly cost him his job. Grady Little watched Pedro give up three straight hits with a pitch count around 105 when he let him continue. Topper is referring to Wolf being pulled between innings with 95 pitches, looking very in control. Of course, Pedro was a much better pitcher than Wolf. I don't know whether I agree or disagree with the decision, but the Grady/Pedro comparison sorta seems like a reach.
  9. Why couldn't Parra stay out there for a second inning? I'm confused....
  10. By my calculation, you're pretty close. He's currently 31 for 194, a hair under .160. A four for five day would raise his average about 16 points, to roughly .176. Brewers have 105 games left. If we assume Weeks starts 95 of them and hits .220, that would be about 350 more ABs with 77 hits in that span. His season average would then be 108 of 544, or about .199.
  11. 01. LC Beeks 02. SS Schubert 03. LF Houle 04. RC Drick (Dnye) 05. 3B Aaron 06. 1B Brian (Rightfieldcoder) 07. RF nullbyte 08. 2B Valpo 09. DH Radman 10. PP Firenick (Packfan) 11. DH Al 12. CC Jon Mid-game changes: - Al to RF, Nullbyte to 2B, valpo to 3B, Aaron to DH. - Radman to C, Jon to DH
  12. Jon tells me he's In. Assuming Aaron, too. Firenick says he's in.
  13. Watching the replay I'm going to disagree. When the throw gets cut off at the mound, Green is 3 feet from the plate. No way he's out. Kid has a pretty decent motor and his starting to heat up a little himself at the plate. Three feet?? I remember it being about 15 ... live action and on replay.
  14. If the Pirates don't cut off that throw at the mound, I'm pretty sure Green is dead at home.
  15. Being at the game, I can attest to the Congrad hit/HR/miracle actually happening. Why is Ramirez pulled? Another injury or early defensive sub?
  16. I'm no Nyjer apologist, not a big fan of his antics and such, but isn't a hard line drive directly at the CF one of the toughest plays to make in baseball? You see guys get fooled on that all the time. It was a bullet that took about 2 seconds to reach where he was standing, impossible to judge if it was coming low, high, or straight at him. Yeah, it would have been better to take a couple steps back rather than freeze like that (and he still probably would have needed to leap to catch it), but it's tough to be upset that he didn't make that play.
  17. Firenick told me he's in. I'm assuming Schubert is in. Some slight revisions to the lineup... 01. LC Beeks 02. SS Schubert 03. LF Houle 04. RC Drick (Dnye) 05. 3B Aaron 06. 1B Brian (Rightfieldcoder) 07. RF nullbyte 08. 2B Valpo 09. PP Firenick (Packfan) 10. CC Radman 11. DH Al We'll rotate in Al. Something like ... Al to RF, nullbyte to 1B, RightFieldCoder to DH. Or someone can rotate to catcher?
  18. I'm in. Jon tells me he's OUT. He also says Aaron is IN. Weather might be an issue tomorrow?
