  1. First thing I thought of, too. One of my favorite Maiden songs ever! "We want information ... information ... information" "Who are you? "The new number two." "Who is number one?" "You are number six." "I am not a number! I am a free man!" And that killer chorus: "Not a prisoner! I'm a free man! And my blood is my ooooown nooooow!"
  2. You're right. The statment, ".08 drivers are plenty of the problem" is definitely a generalized opinion and not a fact.
  3. Best post in the thread and it comes from a Cubs fan. Truly the end of days is nigh.
  4. Just like our speed limits, and of course, everyone in this thread follows them to the letter. I am of the firm belief that there is absolutely nothing wrong with people who drive at .09. Absolutely nothing. Or perhaps more accurately, there's no way that you can say uniformally that no drivers should be out driving at .09. Perhaps some subset of our driving population should not be on the road at .09, but my opinion is that would be a very very small percentage. There is such a thing as a bad law and the .08 legal limit is an example of one.
  5. Everyone knows the world is ending on December 21st, 2012.
  6. Surprised to see San Francisco with a better projected record than the Brewers.

  8. Who says progressive power metal can't be fun and seasonal?
  9. "She really knows how to make bacon on the beach, if you know what I mean..." "Ohhh, yeahhh...." http://deadon.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/hunky_bacon.jpg
  10. Picked mine up today but haven't watched it yet. For those who don't know, the Fan Zone has temporarily moved up a level while they do some remodeling -- use the normal entrance and take the elevator up and you can't miss it. (Maybe that was already mentioned, too lazy to check.) There was a really good crowd there at the store ... great to see ... people choosing not to take part in the recession ... keep $pending, fans!
  11. I don't know what "it" you're referring to. "Are we 'young'?" is a pretty large topic that could be taken in many different directions, but even the original post listed the ages of Brewers players. I would say that a comparison of how this team's average age compares to other teams' average ages is certainly part of the discussion.
  12. Looking at the ages of starting position players according to ESPN's current Depth Charts, here's how the NL central looks in terms of average age: Reds: 216 / 8 = 27 Pirates: 221 / 8 = 27.6 Brewers: 224 / 8 = 28 Cardinals: 234 / 8 = 29.3 Cubs: 245 / 8 = 30.6 Astros: 245 / 8 = 30.6 It'd be interesting to do this for the rest of the teams. Maybe I'll have time later today.
  13. That's incredibly clever. I'd be very proud of our state and our entire ogranization if that name change ever were to happen. And with that team name they could even use the classic "mb", ball & glove, logo. I say that journalists and sportswriters need to just start referring to them as the Micro Brewers until the name takes hold.
  14. http://brewersfandemonium...ys-7-ye.html#reply-477403 ?
  15. And some FCS schools run non-scholarship football programs, such as all members of the Pioneer Football League: Valpo, Butler, Drake, Dayton, San Diego, Davidson, etc....
  16. So Gwynn isn't fast and isn't a good defender? What are you basing that on? If he's on the 25-man roster, there are probably only a couple players on the team faster than him and, save for Cameron, no one better in the OF on defense.
  17. Really? Haven't they used a variation of that joke about 50 billion times by now? I think the writers totally phoned it in on this episode. A boring, predictable, and unimaginiative episode. Looks like I'm the only one.
  18. I came here to say the same thing. I'm amazed that this is a frontpage news link on ESPN.com -- not the Baseball page, the main page. Either that proves that ESPN is in tune and gives equal time to even the smallest of markets (yay) or it means they intentionally seek out non-stories that paint small market teams in a bad light (boo).
  19. One of the least funny episodes in the history of the show.
  20. Pretty bad news. I was on the fence about whether or not we'd be better off as a franchise if he accepted our enormous contract offer, but I am not on the fence when it comes to my feelings on him being a Yankee. I no longer will root for him. Worse, I hope he's a failure in NY. Basically, I hope his career is terrible from this point forward, even if the Yankees only slightly feel the hit. I'm upset that I'm forced to feel this way about someone who I admired as a legendary hero in September.
  21. Can someone summarize how much salary the Brewers are shedding and gaining in 2009 as of right now? The "Salaries" page of the main BF.net site already has taken most of the players lost off the list. Sheets - $11 ? CC - (pro-rated) $3 ? Torres - $3.2 Gagne - $10 Mota - $3.2 Shouse - $2 ? Cappy - $3.7 Counsell - $3 Branyan/Durham - $1 ~ $40 million. Am I close? Am I forgetting anyone? How much do we estimate in arby raises? Bush + $1.5 Fielder + $5 JJ + $3.5 Corey + $2.5 McClung + $1 Rickie + $1 ~14.5 million. Am I close? Forgetting anyone? Whose contracts are resulting in raises this year? Hall + $2 Cameron + $4 Suppan + $4.5 ~10.5 million. (For a total of about $25 million in raises. Ouch.) So that's about $14 million to spend if this year's payroll matches last year's. I guess let's pray that it does -- not much left to spend on players for 2009. And a sliver of that has been chewed into already by signing Julio and Coffey. I'll cross my fingers for a Cameron, Hall, or Fielder trade, I guess.
  22. There is no vent thread right now. Someone tried to start a new vent thread. It was shut down. It had two posts in it, one a very lengthy set of thoughts contributed by a regular. While this forum's staff's overwhleming denial of the existence and relevance of negative opinions is well-documented, even this shameful display of censorship and over-protectiveness was surprising to me. The double-standard is maddening. Over-exuberant and impulsive posts on the side of happy are never ever questioned or scolded, even if the quality of the post is terrible. Yet negative posts of all shapes, sizes, and colors are candidates for locked threads, condescension without reprimand, and sudden "quality assurance" scrutiny. I know, if I don't like I can go somewhere else. Or I can voice my opinion to the community when I see room for improvement....
  23. Jeans and sweater is definitely okay. The audience for a TSO concert is a total mixed bag. You'll have metal heads in jeans and a Savatage t-shirt, middle-aged professionals in suits and ties, and elderly grandmas in slacks and sweaters. And everyone's there for the same great music, same great story, and same great Christmas joy. It's a pretty neat environment. Enjoy the show, you should love it!
  24. Yeah, doesn't it basically amount to adding a $10 million player option for a sixth year to the 5/$100 deal? That just doesn't add much to the original offer.
