  1. Yeah, but this was said all through 2004. And then it was said all through 2005. You seem to have a ton of confidence that the RISP hitting is going to improve a lot. I hope you're right. I just have no reason to put blind faith in that belief. Well, a 6-4 record doesn't mean anything because the season is 162 games long, not 10. At this point, it's just a potentially misleading figure if we're not playing good ball. Taking everything into account, the team I've seen in the first 10 games looks like a team that will lose more games than it wins.
  2. The thing is, record doesn't mean anything at this point. I saw those first 5 games. They looked a lot like these second 5 games. Brewers are just not playing good baseball offensively yet. No early leads, no big rallies, and lots of strikeouts. I'm not going to "just enjoy" a winning record that looks like a complete fluke. As a fan, I'm going to critique the team. Scratching and clawing to a 5-0 headstart (barely beating the Bucs and D'backs at home) and then dropping 4 of 5 is not something I fool myself into being content with. Not with the way they're hitting through 1/16th of the season.
  3. Good catch. ESPN also has Heilman as the winner in their box score. What's up with that? Has to be a mistake....
  4. I really hate this phrase. Thanks to a loss tonight, we now have to win tomorrow just to break even. We have to win two in a row to be where we would have been at with a win tonight. Frankly, "can't win em all" is loser-talk, in my opinion.
  5. So that's what a 1-2-3 inning from your closer is like. I see the appeal........
  6. So, does Jenkins have any options left? lol ... Seriously, is it unfathomable to think that Gross might get some consideration as a starting right fielder? Can he beat out Geoff for that spot?
  7. If only JJ woulda ate his Wheaties this morning. So close.
  8. And last year was a rerun of 2004 in that regard.
  9. Comments like this -- and the seven beers I've been drinking -- is all that's keeping me going at this point.
  10. @%$^#&(@#^$^!@!!!!!! What's the over/under for Runners Left in Scoring Position for the Crew this year? Silver lining: Hardy, Jenks, Carlos for the 9th.
  11. Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin alive, stayin alive.
  12. 3-1 count ... I have a good feeling about this! Should I??
  13. Man! Another strikeout. I thought we already used up all our K's for today....
  14. Wow, we send a runner and it works! Get him to third with less than two outs! Ahhhhhh ... WTMJ is pre-empting coverage with a breaking news story.
  15. Er ... I mean, he's due for reaching on an error.... EDIT: Uke says it's ruled an infield hit.
  16. Final from St. Louis: Reds 1 - Cards 0 I'm not used to the Reds shutting out teams like the cards.
  17. Good call putting Carlos aboard from the Mets' perspective.... Only one more Wagner-less inning.
  18. Well, a base hit woulda been better, but plating a run is plating a run. Geoff got the job done. I like Carlos being up with two outs and a runner on third. And if they walk Carlos, I like Hall. He still needs to atone for his error.
  19. A swinging bunt. This is a HUGE at bat for Geoff. It could set the tone for the remainder of his roadtrip. Let's go Geoff.
  20. I would not advocate bunting with JJ to get to Jenks. I'd bunt with Geoff to get to Carlos, though!
