  1. I'd love to see Weeks play some winter ball this offseason to get into some kind of rhythm for next season, both offensively and defensively. Practice makes perfect.
  2. Hate to sound so cruel but if we face them in the playoffs, the very first pitch thrown by Sabathia better be a fastball right at Soriano's hands.
  3. I saw Jed Lowrie's name mentioned at rortoworld, he's likely one of the prospects involved.
  4. Just a few questions that popped into my head. Of course, this is under the assumption we are still in the race or have made the playoffs. 1. Who is our speed guy off the bench? 2. Who do you want on the mound if we need to get through 1 last inning to make it into the next round or win it all?(I'm sure this has been brought up somewhere before) 3. What will our bench look like for the postseason? 4. And our bullpen? Thanks for your input, if you choose to post your answers/opinions.
  5. This is the Giants we're talking about. Surely they interested in whatever guys we have on the wrong side of 30!
  6. I'd give Braun a B for execution, nice transition to the outfield, good power--but the F I gave him is for wasting his talent (although I realize that wasn't made explicit). Braun has a chance to be an Albert P. type hitter, a once or twice in a generation player, but his plate discipline is bad, and it's getting so obvious that it's almost laughable. Get two strikes and throw the ball into another zipcode and he's gonna swing. When is he gonna learn? When is he gonna be professional enough, intelligent enough, when is he gonna care enough to lay off of that pitch consistently and then start punishing pitchers who have to come back to his zone? Does he watch tape? I'm serious, he should embarrassed at times. I know that all good hitters are going to look bad on two strike pitches out of the zone and in the dirt sometimes, but to do it so consistently is a tragedy to me. Now if he doesn't have the physical ability, or the mental acuity to be a better player, then I'm just wrong and so be it. My expectations were that he would have a ..300 to 310/.375 to .400 line, but he's not giving himself a chance. He's wasting his talent and hurting his team in the sense that he is not fulfilling anywhere near his potential. I have to say I agree with you TBadder. I noticed the same thing, 2 strikes on him and the pitcher throws low and outside to him and he chases. He's predictable in those situations. I sure hope he is watching tape on himself at the plate or at least someone in the clubhouse has pointed that out to him during the break so he get's that corrected. It's his biggest hole in his game right now, but I have faith he'll figure it out.
  7. Minnesota Twins draft SS/3B/1B(whichever he lands up at) Pedro Alvarez. Pretty sure if he was a 1st rounder in 2005, he would've signed.
  8. Where ya at Pudster?
  9. Any one hear if the Brewers are currently in contract extension negotiations with Weeks right now? I hope they sign him now before he starts blowin up!
  10. I agree with And That's #1 Portishead- Third. Awesome album, well worth the 10 year wait!
  11. I agree that his hitting is a comfort level issue. What I remember from the beginning of his career was that he was expected to eventually become our #3 hitter. I also remember a tv interview when he first became our leadoff man, where he admitted that he wasn't familiar with that role and that he was probably most comfortable hitting #3. I think he's thinking too much at the plate when hitting leadoff. It is like he's kinda torn about what a leadoff man is supposed to do and what he wants to do. It must be frustrating having to see that your teammates are able to swing the bat freely, without having to worry about the added pressure of having to get on base that much. He knows he is just as able to hit for power and average(based on his comfort level with being moved down the lineup) as they are.
  12. Many thanks, CJ! I don't post that often, but I have been a member here for 3+ years, and definately enjoy soaking up your bits of knowledge and wisdom.
  13. Twins are mine! I guess I have a couple question, though: Approximatley when are we going to do this?(Suggestion: Put the date in the title of the posting) How many rounds are we doing?
  14. Any chance that Gamel could be switched to 1B or is it too late in his development?
  15. I'd offer Fielder, Hardy, Parra for Lincecum and Cain. SF needs players with solid defensive backgrounds in order to give themselves a chance to win with such a lack of offense. With that said, Fielder really doesn't fit that mold(Weeks neither), but Fielder would offer a face to their franchise, which could be a selling point.
  16. What kind of MLB player could each bring on their own? Sorry, if this was already discussed, I haven't been able to locate it.
  17. It's just so frustrating to me how often he comes to bat swinging when nobody is on. He has the speed, why isn't he capitalizing on it? I still believe he can turn in a great career(with us hopefully) and feel this is one of the keys to help him become successful. It's almost like he hasn't shaken off that #3 hitter mentality, yet.
  18. I'd have to say my favorite things about the Sheeter are his Favre-like humor and innings 2-9.
  19. Honestly, you rock Pedro! I received the Driver autograph in the mail today, I'm truly grateful. Thanks man!
  20. 1. Corey Hart has an early season ending injury forcing the Brewers to bring up Matt LaPorta, who in turn mashes 40 HR's and earns ROY honors, in Hart's absence. 2. Rickie Weeks has a revelation after playing Ichiro on MLB 2k8, that he can utilize his mercurial speed and actually bunt or slap hit the ball to get on base, which translates into a .300+ avg. and 40 SB's. 3. Two 50+ HR hitters(Prince and Ryan "Freakin" Braun) and two 40+ HR hitters (LaPorta and a career year from Bill Hall) in the lineup. SWEET!
