  1. Heck, even Nate Robertson started more games in the playoffs than Bonderman did. Has he fallen out of favor? Will the press that the other guys got make management feel any differently about him? I know Leyland mentioned that he was worried about Bonderman's intensity and that it might hurt him in the World Series. Seem that he is pretty intense and they thought that an early game may have been too much pressure for him. He did give up 6 hits and 4 walks over the 5 2/3rd he pitched.
  2. That certainly is interesting. I would have never thought about Guillen moving to 1B, especially given all of the conversations here that are relative to a player's value at certain positions. Obviously a lot of people wouldn't be very intent on trading Billy Hall, but the opportunity to pick up a young pitcher like Bonderman would be hard for me to pass up. Colby I'm amazed that they would move Guillen to 1B instead of getting a big banger there. Seems like they might be more worried about keeping him healthy and playing. He is a solid hitter and with time even get better at 1B. I would take Bonderman over Santana in a heartbeat. Bonderman has been threw ups and downs already so he is mentally ready to play. Throw in the fact that he has World Series experience he could become a front end stud for a number of years.
  3. OK, but you said you couldn't understand why people wanted to get rid of him. The guy couldn't get anyone out...that's a good reason. He may come back, but he may not. Surely, you can understand how some people can already write him off I understand why people are giving up on him. However we should be moving a guy like Jenks to clear some payroll instead of a guy that might help us or that can regain more trade value. My point is he should not be on the top of the guys we need to move list.
  4. You're kidding, right? I'm not saying there is absolutely zero chance he'll approach his old form, but I certainly understand why people are down on Turnbow. Dumping him means dumping his sal[/i] No I'm not kidding I think when he gets back on track he will have more value for us to trade. Right now he has very little value. He may be a little overpriced for a setup man, but his value will go up.If we decided to dump every player who has a big contract and didn't perform there are some better candidates on the team.
  5. The Tigers would be looking for an impact bat, without a doubt, if they decided to move Bonderman, which I don't think they will do. While Bill Hall would make sense as a starting point, they already have the one SS in MLB that was arguably better than Hall this past year in Carlos Guillen. Otherwise, I don't see the teams matching up very well. Colby I don't think this is too far off. I read somewhere that the Tigers prefereed Guillen at 1B. I was a bit shocked as he doesn't fit the mold of a bashing 1B. Bonderman doesn't have a huge amount of pitches, but at his age he may still develop a 3rd pitch in the next couple of years. I love him and would think it great to see him in a Brewer uniform. I have him on my MVP 2005 brewer team.
  6. Brewers Billy Hall Zack Jackson/Dana Eveland Charlie Fermaint/Angel Salome Derrick Turnbow Mets Aaron Heilmann Lastings Milledge Well I am not sure I love that trade but you need to get rid of value to get value. The only way the Mets would do that is if they wound up getting Barry Zito/Jason Schmidt, but I do think that seems relatively fair. Are you kidding me, no way is this trade fair. We are giving up to major leaguers for a high end prosepct and a setup man. Turnbow for Heilman would be equal value. I don't understand why people are still down on T-Bow and want to dump him? I'm not a Hall backer but in now way do I even deal him straight up for Milledge. Hall has produced in the bigs which Milledge has not.
  7. I'd rather resign Davis. I don't understand why most people want Davis to be traded or gone after next year, but then want to sign a guy with a consistent ERA in the mid 4's to a deal worth more money that Davis wants. I vote we just give it to Davis. I vote no on Padilla also. However, I think we need to think long and hard on Davis he has peaked as a pitcher and we could get stuck with him and a big contract if not careful.
  8. Ok..SO you guys act like CLARK is horrible. Its funny how you guys love him then he next second hate on him. Hes NOT THAT BAD. We could get something. Well I figured him as a 4th or 5th guy always. He got here and got a spark, but teams found his weakness. Is he that BAD, no but he was never really that good. We could get used pine tar from the Tigers (Kenny Rogers), couple of bases from the Cubs (less for Sweet Lou to throw), and hats from the Dodgers ( then Cub fans can't steal them fromm players heads). I would take the bases as Sweet Lou might toss some at Miller Park.
  9. If Gantner has immediate success with the Woodchucks though he could very well get a AA or AAA job as a hitting coach with his background as a former player. Also Darin Everson was probably one of the worst coaches I have ever seen in the game of baseball. He got thrown out of at least 15 games the year he coached and immediately after getting chucked he would come sit in the VIP picnic area where I worked and drink beers for the rest of the night. I lived in the Wausau area for about 5 years and attended a lot of Woodchuck games. I actually got to know Steve Foster through a friend of mine. He was a huge reason they were successful. I think Everson got with the job with the Marlins because of his connection with Foster. It was a guy taking care of his buddy. Barta was a joke of a manager know doubt. I think Ganter's background will help the Chucks once again bring in top talent. Hopefully they can bring talent that will not cause any issues like harming a family's pets for anything of that nature.
  10. By the way Jenks is on the down swing and he looked like a lost puppy in the OF this year at times. Burrell still has some years to play and from what I read on him they think surgery would help his foot. He went rehab last offseason and it didn't work This is part of my 2nd ost homer, I stated that surgery could help. I always laugh when people bring up defense and LF. Sorry I'm a bit old school when it come to LF. Big sticks play out there because they could not hack it anywhere else.
  11. Burrell still has some years to play and from what I read on him they think surgery would help his foot. He went rehab last offseason and it didn't work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is really all you had to post. So what color are your clown shoes?? I understand what you are saying that 1B is not an option when it comes to the Brewrs and Burrell. I think that is like saying it snows in Wisconsin sometime during the year. My point was stated that he should be fine if he elects to have surgery on his foot. That is what I have read. He was not happy that the rehab didn't work and wanted it fixed. I don't disagree that he is a butcher out there, I think his bat would make up for it.
  12. While Burrell is an upgrade offensively over Jenkins or Mench, he is a hack in left. In and of itself that's not such a huge deal, but he has foot issues which mean if he can't play left he probably could only play first....and that ain't happening in Milwaukee anytime soon. He'll probably go to an AL team. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reposting for Thumperden (and Hauser) What are you trying to be a clown or something?? I read your post so what.I stated he wasn't much in the OF,team is looking for a stick and he may fit the bill. By the way Jenks is on the down swing and he looked like a lost puppy in the OF this year at times. Burrell still has some years to play and from what I read on him they think surgery would help his foot. He went rehab last offseason and it didn't work.
  13. Like Tom Glavine? Glavine left as a free agent, because of budget constraints more than anything. Besides Schmidt most of the Brave pitchers that have been moved have flopped with new teams. Don't know if it is insight or luck but they sure have gotten rid of most guys right before they crash.
  14. Nice idea, but like Rluz stated it would be laughed at. They have a young SS already in Ben Zorbist who they got from the Stros. Have to think they will give him a shot before trading away top talent for the same type of SS.
  15. I really like Pat Burrel and would like to see him in a Brewer uniform as he would help the offense. I really think it is funny how so many people worry about defense in LF. LF has always been a place to try and hide a stick that can not catch a cold.
  16. Actually, the guy I'd target on the White Sox is Javier Vazquez He has become a 5 inning pitcher he gets hit 2nd and 3rd time through a lineup. In no way do I want a part of him.
  17. I said Garcia isn't any better than Davis, and he isn't. Go ahead and make that claim. I will take Freddy over Doug every day. Doug had a spike in his performance the last couple of years. This year he reverted back to his old self and that is at best an average arm. Freddy can eat up innings and give us a vet with some post season time. We are trying to get to the next level Davis will not get us there, might as well try someone else.
  18. What people are saying is "Crawford in left = pretty darn good. Crawford in center = great". Plus, we only really have Gwynn and Gross to fill CF, and neither is a lock to be a solid everyday player. I understand this. I don't always agree with though. Crawford is an upgrade for the Brewers no matter if he plays LF or CF. Name me a player on this team that is better than him? He can bat in the top part of the order and add some speed to it, maybe we could move Weeks down in the order and extend our lineup with some more bats in it. I like Gross, but I would take Crawford over him anyday, and Gwynn has not proved a thing yet
  19. If you put Crawford in a corner he isn't worth giving up Yo for Here we go again that people pigeon holing spots in the field for certain offense of numbers. I don't care what spot he plays in the OF he will put up some numbers that this team needs. He is young and not close to his peak yet. Just because some stats show is he is an average corner guy doesn't mean that he cannot help. So is Yo ends up being a releiver down the road due to injuries or some crazy reason is he worth keeping?? Talent is talent doesn't matter what spot a guy plays.
  20. I think a package of Eveland and Gwynn may get it done. Dana could start for them, and Gwynn would be a cheap replacement for Crawford. Wierdos19 is the sky pink in our world? No way does Evenland and Gwynn get this done. Crawford is a budding superstar. You are way to high on those two prospects if you think they will get that kind of talent. Mike Lynnn is not runing the D-Rays. On the people concerned about giving up Yo, he is a prospect and that is it. He has not proven a thing at the big leagues. He easily could blow an arm at anytime. I will take a guy that fills a OF spot and top of the order player for a prospect anytime. Trade the extra OFer for some arms.
  21. They want a top pitcher for him that is close to the majors. I would think we would have to part with Yo to do it. I have no issue with moving Yo if we can get Crawford he is a big time player for this team.
  22. Careful Jenkins bashers, that's two games in a row with 7 or more runs and Geoff in the lineup. Maybe he was right when he said the team is better with him in the lineup. I would go with Nix getting some PT or that the whole team is hitting the ball right now.
  23. You havet to get the bunt down in that spot. Come on Mike. Maybe we should bring back Chad I believe he could bunt. Up to Jenks not a great hope here.
  24. Nice job by the guys that are counted on to drive in runs. Once again Brewers struggle against the mighty Pirates.
  25. This line-up is a championship line-up. Please let's get rid of Yost for someone that realizes Corey Hart and Gwynn Jr. need to be planning everyday and to platoon Jenkins and Mench. Also what is so wrong with bringing up Braun from AA instead of adding another 50 year old player. Why should we platooing one of our power sources in Mench? Hart should platoon with Jenks. Lets rush Braun and Gwynn up to the majors even thought they are not ready!! Gwynn has not hit with much authority when he got the chance. Braun needs work on his defense to see if he will be a 3B or have to move. Get rid of Yost, why because he has kept this team a float with key injuries all year?
