  1. Escobar has a long way to go to top the 2 top SS that played for the Royals. 1 Freddie Patek. Once finished 6th in the MVP voting. He was not a gimmick because he was only 5'5". 2 U. L. Washington Steady player during his career for winnning teams. If Jeffers is not in the deal it only gets better for the Brewers, another power arm in the pen.
  2. This offseason Melving once again dealt away POTENTIAL for proven players as he has done in the past. Escobar, Cain, Jake O, and Jeffers are all potential. Inman was suppose to be a great loss when he was traded away for Linebrink, he has lit up the NL since he left Milwaukee. LaPorta and Brantley have yet to make the Indians a top team in the AL Central. I believe that Doug once again made the right move. Prospects are trading chips till they prove they are major league players.
  3. We really miss those 3 average prospects that went for Linebrink. If one of them would be up pitching decent for the Padres I would say it is a loss. Doug tried to help the team, sometimes those things just dont work out. Even with CC trade blew up, becaue Brittle Ben could not pull his weight in the second half last year. As much as I want to move Escobar before he shows no bat in the bigs, I would not move him for any of these packages. Same with Hardy hold till next year, if this is the best out there.
  4. First of I dont see a trade going on with these prospects. IMO Escobar is the guy who needs to be moved. Right now his stock is hign and it will not get much higher. His potential to hit with his defense will get a needed talent on the team. As Escobar shows less ability to hit his value will drecrease. I hope Hardy gets a long term deal done with the Brewers. Only thing Escobar has on him is range and that is not over the top. Hardy has solid range with a big arm so I dont see gaining much with Escobar. While Green is being talked about as a 3B, does he really have the stick that is prefered at 3B?? I dont recall him hitting like Gamel with the that kind of power.
  5. You have to be kidding me when you say he is only slightly better than Kendall. Kendall's only value as a hitter is his ability to walk, he offers nothing more besides grounding out weakly time and time again. At least Lopez has the ability to have a little pop, drive the ball in the gap from time to time, and adds a little speed to the lineup. He is almost .20 better each year than Kendall in OBA, so it is not as close as you make it out to be.
  6. Great move and the Brewers once again give up nothing to fill a hole on the team. OFers can be found all over the place so giving up a 4th type OF for a starting 2B is great. Lopez takes over at the top and allows the Brewers to put McGee and Counsell at 3B. I also believe that Gamel will get sent down at this point. He still needs some work with his game, but his defense was better than advertised. Melvin might be seriuos about Halladay and I can see moving Escobar for him. Blue Jays love him but I dont know what kind of pitching they have to send there to complete the deal. Hart would be an option if the Blue Jays can also work a deal to flip Rios for yount SP from another theam. Escobar has high value right now and it is time to move him, Hardy is the better over all SS and IMO wants to be a Brewer for a long time.
  7. JB12 C-Vill has been very average as a SP over the years. Each time he was pulled because of his lack success. He has 3 very average pitches and one big time change up in his tool box. You are right he has to spot his pitches but he has to be like Geg Maddux to make it as a starter and he has yet to show that ove and over. With his stuff he is a great short reliever and that is the role he needs to be in for this team.
  8. The rotation is a lot better than it was back in the horrible days. Looper and Bush are in a little slump but they should bounce back. No way do I want to see C-Vill put in the rotation, he doesn't have enough stuff to get thew the order time afte time. He is a setup man that can get by once threw the order. Parra still could bounce back and in the second half. Like the thought of giving Dillard a shot just to see what they have in him. McClung is still there and would not take much to stretch out and be a very service able starte again.
  9. Cameron is the same player he was before he became a Bewer. Only change might be that he has a little less range in the OF.
  10. Average glove and range sounds like a couple of Brewer fans giving a scouting report on Hardy.
  11. Hart for Cainn makes a lot of sense for both teams. Cainn would help the Brewers need for a top end of the rotaion guy for years to come and Hart would give the Giants a nice young hitter to help rebuild. Not sure I like the platoon options or replacement if they move Hart. If the cant get a ready to go young SP then you dont trade Hart.
  12. Kendall I think will be back on a one year deal. Dont think either one of the young guys is ready for next year. Really like Rivera but not sure that he can handle every day duties.
  13. Sox have Lowrie so I dont think at this point they are going to deal for Hardy. Right now thay have Geen and Lugo filling in for now. Prince does make sense for the Sox to go after in the future to replace Papo. Boston can not afford to hope young Lars is going to be the man if they know they can get Prince. IMO Prince is made for Fenway as he can take some of his opposite field pop ups and make them HRs in that park.
  14. Bill Hall's career is on the downside. He has two very good years and since that happened he has come back to earth. He was very over rated since then as a lot of people feel he is going to bounce back and hit a bunch of bombs and play awesome D. Excuses for Hall's fall have been almost every thing: being moved around (3B to CF to 3B), his batting stance and then his eyes. Bottom line is the free swinging Hall was just hitting more balls with some luck for 2 seasons and now he is missing more than connecting.
  15. Macha is a man of his word and I have no issue with the move. Hall will be on the bench soon enough with his poor play once again, no Ned Yost to coddle him. With Macha at the helm and a better staff under him this team is playing very well. Have wonder if he would have taken the job years ago what might have been. Melvin so far knew what this team needed from day one.
  16. Aaron Cook or Jason Marquis could options coming from the Rockies. At this point not sure we would have what they need to fill their needs. IMO Brewer trade chips are Escobar and one of the catchers at this point. Would like to see Brewers move Escobar before his bat starts to show that it will not play in the bigs.
  17. Gabe Gross is the one for me he was under the radar and never got kudos from fans. Being a lefthanded hitter and play all OF spots is being missed right now by the team. Funny thing is there were a lot of people thinking Tony JR was the better player, when it has not looked that way for some time.
  18. Options I like 1. Gamel at 3B platoon of Hall. Counsell at 2B 2. Felipe Lopez. 3. Ronnie Belliard. "Teahen is no longer at 2B for a reason. He can't play it." Teahen time at 2B was stopped due to injuries in OF first and now with Gordon out at 3B. He was getting playing time at 2B till the injuries hit.
  19. Where would this team be without Suppan on the roster?? C-Vill has yet to show he can be a starter, since he doesn't have enought pitches to get threw the lineup multiple times. McClung would be another option but he is better suited for the pen and has been a plus there. Another year of Suppan eating innings up so the Brewers dont have to rush a young SP to the big leagues when they are not ready. IMO Suppan is not going to pitch this good all year, but some other starter will step up there game by then so there will not be a fall off with the team.
  20. Bush needs to keep up the good work he has been doing and then at the end of the season he will be rewarded. He seems to be really have figured it out and if he keeps it up will really get rewarded for his hard work.
  21. Hall would be a down grade with the D and bat at SS for the Brewers if he took over for Hardy. He is not the steady glove like Hardy even with his better range. Halls hold the ball and double pump throws would allow more hits.
  22. I care. The Brewers may need another starter in 2010, and will need a replacement for Bush and Suppan after that. Kennedy would improve the Brewers system. Anyone who is derisive of Kennedy's potential is ignoring how valuable he could be to the Brewers. He has limited value to the Brewers as of right now since his ceiling is starting to come down from were it was thought to be. Yo, Parra, and Jeffress should be anchoring the staff for the next several years. I dont see Bush going away if he keeps up what he is doing, Melvin knows what this farm system lacks. We know that there are all ways a bunch of middle of the road SPs in free agency each year that can be signed for the short term. Either one of those Red Sox SPs would make it easier to let someone walk since they have higher ceilings than Kennedy.
  23. Hart or Braun go down for an extended time the discussion has to be about bringing Gamel up. The second part of that discussion is do they play him at 3B and move Hall to the OF or move Gamel to the OF. Marlins just moved of Coghlan and the plan is to have him learn left field on the fly.
  24. I believe Kennedy is more like a Dave Bush type of a starter. I'm not sold on Buchholz at all and he maybe all hype from the Red Sox. Masterson I like a little bit more but Kennedy is someone I would really like on the Brewers. Yes more would be needed for Masterson but not much more would be needed to be added to get Buchholz depending on how far Buchholz stock has dropped with the Red Sox. If the Red Sox were confident in Masterson and Buchholz to be in the rotation I don't see why they would have gone after both Penny and Smoltz. If you believe that Red Sox over hype their young players then you know that the Yankees do this even more. All kinds of Yankee players come up with all potential to never do anything. Kennedy would be at best a #3 guy in the rotation and looks like he could end up as a #5/ long reliever type guy. He reminds me a lot of former Brewer farm hand Will Inman. Good stats at lower levels but plateaus when he reaches the higher minors.
  25. I agree with DHonks I dont know why Hale was passed over. All I have ever read on him was he was a real smart baseball guy, sure he could have connected with younger players with his minor league background. D-Backs may be at some fault for rushing players up to the majors when they were far from finished products. To me Justin Upton could have used more time in the minors to get rid of his flaws.
