  1. Real smart there Gomez, making the 1st out at 3rd. Yeah it was close but no reason to do that with Braun coming up. And it was a terrible attempt at a slide.
  2. When people say "I could care less" when they really mean "I couldn't care less."
  3. Yes that you started and its really a non-issue. In fact, I think most fans (or rather informed fans who understand that the HR derby probably does more harm than good) would rather have Braun not participate. The only good thing that could come out of it is Braun wins, which is nothing more than PR. The bad things could be he gets hurt/reinjures his achilles, he doesn't get an extra days rest, he screws his swing up from trying to hit a HR every AB, etc. It's really not a big deal and like others said in that thread you started, who's to say that Braun told Kemp he didn't want to. Just because that wasn't made public knowledge doesn't mean it didn't happen. By the way, what's the deal with the avatar? The average fan outweighs the informed fan 10 to 1. I agree there maybe more 'informed' fans that don't want Braun in the derby or AS game or both, but to say most fans would not want him in the derby or AS game or both couldn't be farther from the truth. and, like I said in that thread, even the informed fan would enjoy watching Braun win the HR derby. You are seriously reaching when you say Braun participating in the HR derby could be bad because he could hurt/reinjure his achilles, or he won't get an extra days rest, or he could screw his swing up from trying to hit a HR every AB, etc. He could do all that x10 just playing in this afternoons game (sans the rest of course). If he really needs the rest as you pointed out, RR will rest him out of the lineup before an off day. Seriously, if you think Braun, or anyone for that fact, participating in a HR derby is cancerous towards their health or performance going forward, you are nit-picking at best. The avatar is just an avatar of some chick. I've used that avatar for a decade in fantasy sports. My point was that the HR Derby doesn't matter. Regular season games do matter. So that comparison doesn't really work. I'll admit that the chances of Braun screwing up his swing are slim because he is such a great player and probably has better discipline than others. However, he's been banged up quite a bit in his career and he should probably just take the extra rest. I don't think it's really nitpicking because like I said, the risks outweigh any reward. Sure you could make a case for not playing in the AS game itself then. But that at least matters a little bit more than the HR derby. And I also think people seriously underestimate how tiring a HR derby can be.
  4. Or start Aoki in CF, Hart in RF, and Green at 1B. Green has seen almost zero PT in the past few weeks.
  5. I honestly think there are at least 5-10 people who post regularly here who could do a better job than Roenicke. Hell, they'd probably do a better job than a lot of managers because it seems like most guys still think in terms of "old-school baseball."
  6. I might be inclined to agree if we were trading away a few years of service. However, we'd be trading away less than 3 months. All we would need to do is get more value than the draft picks (and whatever Greinke provided those 3 months, even though that doesn't really matter since we more than likely will not make the playoffs). I'm also not directing this at just you but a lot of people keep screaming to sign Greinke, as if the FO hasn't tried or doesn't want to. Almost everybody here would obviously love to resign him but the fact of the matter is, Greinke is a stud pitcher and stud pitchers usually get top dollar. We're just not in a position to be able to give him what he's asking. And for those that want to sign him to whatever it takes, I don't want to invest $25+ mil/yr in one player who plays every 5 days at a position that carries the greatest injury for risk. At a certain point, you have to walk away when the investment is just too much. $25 a year...no....$20 a year....yes. Obviously you were trying to be funny but I did include the "mil" there. Maybe it should have been $25 mil+.
  7. And what would you have said if the squeeze was botched? It's been pointed out many times on this board that a good result doesn't mean something was a good decision and a bad result doesn't necessarily mean there was a bad decision. Aoki is clearly a better hitter than Izturis. In order to score the run swinging away, he could've gotten a hit, a fly ball to the OF, or a groundball to SS/2B. To score with the squeeze, he had to get a perfect bunt, since it was a safety squeeze. I'd rather take the option with more chances for success.

  9. That's exactly what I thought as soon as he hit it. It guaranteed him another start today. I really like Gomez and wish that he could suddenly become as good as his potential. But the fact is, he thinks he's Babe Ruth or something and swings as hard as he can at almost anything close. I really believe if he changed his approach, used his quick hands to concentrate on line drives, and utilized his speed out of the box, that he could become a really good player. But at 26, I highly doubt anything will change with him. And as good as he is defensively, I don't know if he will be worth the 3-3.5 million he'll likely get in arby next year as the RH half of a platoon.

  11. No. That would just further decimate an already depleted farm system. It's not about just making the playoffs, it's about making/winning the WS. There are just more healthy/talented teams than the Brewers and they wouldn't get far, even if they did squeak in (which is highly highly unlikely). Try to trade some/all of Greinke/Marcum/KRod/Kottaras, restock the system a bit, and get back at it next year. I always forget it is hard to read sarcasm in people's voices. I am all for trading anyone and everyone. I would love for the Brewers to keep Greinke though. If a deal could be reached to keep him, AWESOME! But everyone else pretty much can be on the trade block besides the few obvious guys. Blue font is used for sarcasm for future reference. But I'm sure you already knew that.
  12. I think, or at least hope, that the Brewers could get a little more than that. Matusz is nothing special, even though he's only 25 and Schoop has struggled above low A. Schoop has also been playing more 2B than SS and if he can't stick at SS, we already have a player like him with Gennett.

  14. It is shocking how much Roenicke loves the bunt. There's been at least 4-5 different players attempt a bunt tonight, not even including pitcher.
  15. ARam's played some pretty solid defense after the 1st. I know it was a tough hop but he probably should have made that play. That last play he made looked harder than the one in the 1st.
  16. I'd give him the $200 if it meant he would never come back.
  17. Ok, is this enough to prove to Roenicke that Izturis blows? Bring up Bianchi or even Maysonet again. Anybody but Izturis.
  18. And Morgan continues to make me sick of him. Dump him already, bring up Schafer.
  19. Again, one bad start (and again scouts would see how the defense was pretty poor tonight) has basically zero effect on Greinke's trade value, other than the fact that its one less start he could make for whomever trades for him. Teams know he's a great pitcher.
  20. Eh, I don't think this will really change much. Teams know what kind of pitcher Greinke is and what he's capable of. And if there are scouts here today, they can see how much the defense has really let him down tonight. ARam missed a DP ball, costing 2 runs, and Izturis didn't cover 2nd, potentially costing a run.
  21. I thought we had established long ago that the Brewers do not get much if any money from the parking. Who cares where the money comes from? Are you really that opposed to calling a guy up because he will cost an extra $125k?
  22. Not sure why Morgan and Gomez both have to start the same game. One can't hit RHP and the other can't hit LHP so they should never start together. If Aoki needs a day off, put Hart back in RF and give Green 1B. It's maddening how little Taylor Green is playing. I know he hasn't really gotten it going this year but it's hard when you're not even seeing 5 consistent ABs a week. Let him play everyday in AAA and call up Bianchi then if that's how it's going to be.
  23. I was going to say the same thing. You make a lot of good points but a lot is repetitive and some of it just seems like unfiltered rambling off the top of your head, like you're just thinking aloud. Just curious but do you work 3rd shift or something? It seems like a lot of your posts are at 2, 3, 4 am so maybe you're just tired which causes you to ramble?
