  1. He also seems to be very interested in the behind the scenes aspect of baseball and the Brewers are giving him the opportunity to explore that. He has had nothing but good things to say about the team/town/owner, and we all know it't not like Greinke to sugar coat anything. If it is selling off a few pieces and getting back MLB-ready talent, then I could see him recognizing the vision that Melvin and Attanasio are taking. As I mentioned earlier, I think Greinke understands how winners are built. Tell him that we recognize he wants a chance to play for a winner and we want to give him that chance. We also want to set ourselves up for the future. So we trade him for impact talent this year, improve ourselves for next year (and the coming years) and make a run at him in the offseason. Keep Marcum, offer him arby (or whatever its called), if he accepts, great another year of a pretty good pitcher, if he doesn't, great high draft picks.
  2. That's a good thing. Might as well get valuable pieces for players that will be gone anyway.
  3. I know there's a lot of season left but I just don't have confidence in this team. I say they start looking to trade at least Greinke in the next few weeks to see if they can get more of a haul than they would at the end of July. Teams would probably be willing to give up a little more to get that extra month's worth of starts.
  4. It's dumb and better to just not know. But it is a reference to Roenicke.
  5. Walks continuing to kill Yo. He has the stuff, I wish he would just challenge hitters more instead of nibbling so much.
  6. Brewers sure do love their Puerto Ricans and/or outfielders.
  7. 5'11 pitcher? Not the Brewers m.o.
  8. I would've liked to have seen Adam Walker (from Milwaukee) for some more power, just went to the Twins at 97.
  9. Hoping for 2 of Gallo, Marrerro, or Piscotty.
  10. 1. Tyler Thornburg 2. Jed Bradley 3. Wily Peralta 4. Jimmy Nelson 5. Taylor Green 6. Taylor Jungmann 7. Jorge Lopez 8. Scooter Gennett 9. Logan Schafer 10. Drew Gagnon 11. Caleb Gindl 12. Mike Fiers 13. Orlando Arcia 14. Nick Bucci 15. Hunter Morris 16. Yadiel Rivera 17. Kyle Heckathorn 18. Santo Manzanillo 19. Cody Scarpetta 20. Chris McFarland 21. Brooks Hall 22. Max Walla 23. Hiram Burgos 24. David Goforth 25. Eric Arnett
  11. Apparently Boras said if he didn't get #1 money, he wouldn't hesitate to go back to school. With the Astros wanting Correa and the Twins wanting Buxton, he fell past the top 2 and other teams might be scared because of the slot money.
  12. It would've been between Appel and Correa for me. That being said, it is still surprising.
  13. I'd have to see a much bigger sample before I know for sure, but I think the difference Maldonado makes behind the plate is so fantastic that the Brewers should consider moving Lucroy to 1B and having Lucroy catch 1 out of 5 games a season. Seriously No. I'm usually not one who says a guy's bat needs to be at some sort of level before he plays a position but in this case, unless you have a Posey/Napoli/VMart type bat, I don't think a catcher should be playing 1B. I don't even think Mauer is a good choice to play 1B full-time even though he hits for a great average. 1B is a position where you should be getting some easy power (I know Gamel was never a huge HR threat but he still put up the OPS [in the minors at least]). As good as Lucroy has been this year, he most likely wasn't going to keep that pace up. His production was great for a catcher but his projected OPS for the rest of the year is .735. That's not very good for a 1B. Let him continue to grow as a catcher and whatever he offers on offense is a plus at the position. I highly doubt the defensive difference of Maldonado would make up for his lack of offense and the lack of offense from not having a "usual 1B-type."
  14. Is it me or does it seem like the shift has backfired more than its worked this year?
  15. Obviously the butterfly effect comes into play here: If Braun is suspended for 50 games, then everything else changes as well. Who knows if Gamel, Gonzo, Narvy, etc. all get hurt. Obviously without Braun and all those same injuries we would have been a lot worse. But I will say that given the choice between losing Braun for 50 games and losing Gamel, Gonzo, Narvy for the entire season, I'd rather lose Braun for those 50. That's not because those 3 are amazing but because the depth/trickledown effects were terrible. That's also not taking into consideration the stigma that Braun would be labeled a cheater (even though he basically already has been).
  16. For the Brewers or in the history of the game? If it's in history, that's pretty shocking, seeing as how long the game has been around.
  17. HiAndTight, I thought you were done defending Profar? You just keep saying the same thing over and over again. I think we understand that Profar is going to be a pretty good player. Unless you have something different to add, can we stop adding the same posts over and over? It's getting a little annoying having to scroll through the same long posts over and over again. I'd block you but sometimes you do actually have something good to say (I just don't want to read it 50 times).
  18. Not really sure why Aoki isn't starting. I know he's been starting a lot lately but I think he's earned it. I'd rather just have him as the everyday CF against RHP and RF against LHP (with Hart at 1B). That being said, hopefully Morgan can get it going.
  19. It looks like the Rangers will be signing Oswalt. That could take them out of the picture for Greinke. Then again, if they traded for Greinke, that could very easily put them over-the-top to be WS favorites (I think adding Greinke alone would have done that).
  20. Saying somebody has a 50% chance of being an impact player isn't really an insult of the player in my book. Well, you obviously had a different author to your book than mine. I don't think anyone said it was a coin flip that Harper would be an impact player, did they? Mike Trout? But hey, if people just simply want to say if you're a prospect its' a 50/50 chance you're going to be a impact player, regardless of the mountain of evidence to the contrary, then fine. Then I suppose there really is no difference in trading for Profar despite the spectacular #'s he's put up for his age and level and just take the two comp picks back. Better to have two picks to "flip the ole' coin" over than one, right? Hey, until you're proven, it's always just 50/50. There are no mitigating factors! Alright, that's about it for me on defending Profar's status. Nobody's done much arguing other than, "he's not even hitting .300(despite hitting .298 and slugging .860 as a kid who just turned 19) and he's not proven, so it's a flip of the coin. I'm sure we'd have passed on Matt Moore because he was a "flip of the coin as well." I am curious, we could take a look. How many prospects who have performed well in the upper levels before the age of 20 and have ranked among the top 5(not even just top 2) have been "flip of the coin," impact players in recent years? For some reason I don't believe you're done defending Profar because you've been saying the same thing every post. Look, nobody is saying Profar isn't a great prospect or that we don't want him. I think most people here would gladly take Profar in exchange for Greinke. I just think some people will always be wary of young, "unproven in the majors" prospects because there are always guys that don't succeed. As much as you think Profar is a slam dunk, you can't guarantee it. Sure there could be a 90%, 80%, etc. chance of him succeeding and there's no point in arguing what that percentage is. However, one thing is for sure and that is that he is not a 100% guarantee. I honestly don't even remember what you were trying to argue about anyway because like I said, most people here would probably do Profar for Greinke.
  21. I would love to get Profar and I don't think it's far-fetched to think the Rangers would trade him. Greinke would probably easily make them the favorites to come out of the AL. And Profar is just a prospect. People can say can't-miss, once-in-a-lifetime, etc. all they want. Brandon Wood was also a can't-miss guy if I remember. Andy Marte was supposed to be pretty good too. The point is, prospects don't always pan out, even if they seem can't-miss. That being said, Profar would still be a sweet haul.
  22. With all the injuries, Weeks is the best option. Yes he's had a bad year but do you really want an infield of Green/Ransom/Maysonet/Conrad? Sure ARam will hopefully be back soon but thats only one spot. Sitting Weeks was an option a couple of weeks ago. Not so much anymore.
  23. Is Kottaras still in because Wolf doesn't want Lucroy out there? Not sure if that should be serious or not. Kottaras obviously looked like he was hurting. He really shouldn't be pushing it with all the injuries they have already.
