  1. I don't think you're crazy--I like it, too. I'm a big fan of the pagentry of his entrance, I like the Japanese accomplice. I like the head markings, the japanese influence of his moves. He's a good athlete, he seems limber enough. Love the Baron Von Raschke claw at the end of matches, the green mist. . .He's got me hooked. I don't think people have a problem with the gimmick. It's that they refuse to acknowledge him as A-Train or Albert and want to call him Lord Tensai. Why can't he continue to be A-Train or Albert and just be a bad dude who dominated in Japan who now took on the Japanese influences? I understand when low-level or unknown guys change names but its stupid when well-known guys do it.
  2. The problem isn't really Ishikawa's lack of production. It's the fact that he's basically forcing Izturis to play more because he can only play 1st. I would have no problem if Ishikawa was kept as the 25th man if there were another backup 2B/3B on the team.
  3. These are my main two beefs. Ishikawa doesn't prove anything. Gamel shouldn't need many days off and when he does, Hart can play first. If Conrad was up (I guess he's injured now), then he could also play some first while also backing up 2nd and 3rd instead of Izturis. If Green was up, he could probably do the same. I have no problem with Izturis as the backup SS. I have a problem with him being essentially the only backup IF who will probably see 1-2 starts a week. Morgan, while a pretty good player both offensively and defensively, is expendable. He's a good clubhouse guy (at least on this team) but he seems to make a lot of mental mistakes and I'd rather give Aoki his PT. By getting rid of Ishikawa or Morgan, we could solve the Izturis problem. If we got a RH bench player for Morgan, even better. At this point, I would take just about anything for him because I really want Aoki to play and a roster spot to open up. On a side note, his bobblehead day is scheduled for June 10. I doubt the Brewers would get rid of him before then. I have a feeling that's partially why Counsell wasn't cut last year as well.
  4. I know this was posted awhile ago but I went back and looked at the 4th round of this draft. Not all guys are known by the name listed but I recognized the following immediately, most of whom have seen time at ML level: Chuck Lofgren (former Nashville Sound, hasn't done much) Brad Bergesen (decent rookie year in 09 but Suppan-esque since) Chris Iannetta Brandon Boggs Pat White (didn't sign to play college football) (Curtis) Ross Ohlendorf (Robert) Casey Janssen (Luis) Javy Guerra Lucas Harrell Ryan Webb There were about 4 others I looked up who I didn't recognize but were either considered top 10 prospects in their organizations at one point and/or saw some time in the majors. Out of that list, I would say Iannetta, Ohlendorf, Janssen, Guerra, and Webb have all been decent, with Guerra and Janssen probably the best. I agree that you normally shouldn't expect much impact talent past the first couple of rounds but I just found it interesting that I recognized about 1/3 of the players in this particular round you named, a few of whom are actually pretty good.
  5. I didn't mind the ARam signing that much, because I thought Green would've been on the team getting one start a week at both 3rd and 2nd. It just makes too much sense to have had that happen. I think ARam will also eventually be fine as he's a notorious slow starter but a platoon at 3rd with Green/Hairston would've been pretty solid too. The ARam money then could've been spent on another bullpen arm or better SS. Looking back on it, I might reconsider the ARam signing but there are definite ways to make it not suck. The main thing would be bring someone to the team who can actually back up 3rd and 2nd while maintaining an OPS north of .650 (whether that be Green, Conrad, or someone else).
  6. Conversely, take out the Cards and Braves series (both good teams), and the Brewers are 3-1. Except you don't win by beating bad teams. You have to beat the good ones too. And it's not like they've lost close games. They've been spanked while playing bad defense, making dumb mistakes, and taking terrible approaches. Like I said, it's early. I don't care so much that they've lost, it's just how they've looked losing. And they've looked awful.
  7. Take out the Cubs series, who are pretty awful, and the Brewers have looked like absolute garbage this year. I know its early but mental mistakes, bad pitching, poor approaches at the plate, etc. have made them look terrible. Hopefully the turn around begins soon.
  8. I was going to go with Erick Almonte, myself. Completely blocked him from my mind.
  9. Nyjer is terrible at judging balls. I'm really getting sick of him and would rather just have Aoki play. I'd almost give him away at this point just to get Aoki some time and open a spot for Green/Conrad/Schafer.
  10. The Ishikawa experiment, much like the Brad Nelson/Chris Duffy/Wil Nieves experiments before it, needs to stop.
  11. It's been pointed out but Wolf would actually cost 8.5 mil since he has a buyout of 1.5 mil. I'd rather have him at that than sign some other crappy 5th starter for 5 mil. I also wouldn't want both of Peralta/Fiers in the rotation. Depth is a good thing.
  12. This is exactly how I feel. If it's going to cost more than 5/100 (and it's looking like it might) to lock up Greinke, I'd rather sign Marcum to something like 3/40 and pick up Wolf's option. A rotation next year of Yo, Marcum, Wolf, Narv-Dog, and Fiers/Peralta could still be pretty good. Then, like PEM said the other half of Peralta/Fiers or even one of Jungmann/Bradley could step in in 2014. The only question is how much will it cost to sign Marcum.
  13. Well I thought it was a sweet slide and he was actually safe. I also thought he was safe in live-action so it's not like it was really bang-bang. He should've been called safe and it was a blown call IMO.
  14. Then doesn't Gomez deserve to be out at the plate since the throw beat him? If the guy's safe, he should be safe. I don't care if the ball beats him or not.
  15. I think Gomez either does something outstanding or completely stupid. There is no in-between with him.
  16. I think it's been in the IGTs a few times but I see it a lot on fantasy baseball team name sites.
  17. I don't think people have a problem with Gomez playing against LHP. It's just that Roenicke (and a lot of managers for that matter) have a set position line-up and positions usually hit in a certain spot, regardless of who plays. For Roenicke, the CF will always hit 2nd and the catcher 8th. Against righties, I'm fine with Roenicke's lineup except I would swap Lucroy and Gonzo (and probably Weeks/Morgan). For lefties though, I would put Lucroy 2, Gamel 6, Gomez 7, Gonzo 8.
  18. Is that the first you've heard of that? It's pretty much been around since he was drafted.
  19. Still don't like the squeeze, even if it worked. Now Roenicke will be tempted to do it any chance he gets and claim it worked the first time.
  20. I just use Taste of Home. There's a way to sort through "healthy" recipes and most even give the nutrition facts. Then I just tweak things if need be. I've found a lot of really good stuff on there.
  21. There's at least 5 entrances that I can think of so you shouldn't have a problem.
  22. It actually wasn't too bad. I only rode the exercise bike for like 30 mins a few times a week and lifted for the first 6 months, then I started the treadmill. Even with the treadmill, I don't really run. I just put the incline really high (13) and walk briskly (3.7-4.0) for about an hour a few times a week. That combined with no more fast/junk food and food substitutions and I've lost 1-2 pounds a week for the past 14 months.
  23. Just an update, I'm down to 195 now. Another 6 or so pounds and I'll be at an even 100 lost. I hope to hit that mark sometime in mid-May. I've mostly been doing the treadmill and some lifting but I'm looking to switch things up a little. I've been doing some research on DDP Yoga and I'm thinking about starting that. I've heard good things about it and it would be nice to do something different.
  24. I was just going to post that. And this is his most active topic. Just a quick glance at his posts and almost everything seems to be ticket/trading related. Not saying that's a bad thing but it's hard to take someone serious when they start a topic asking a question and then get mad when people give their opinions on it. Personally, I think he's a solid offensive player but definitely not HOF-worthy at this point. I think 3000 hits would be an almost automatic in but I doubt he'll get there.
