  1. I'm not just sure why people are so down on Green. You think he has potential but then don't think he can be a productive everyday player? He's only 25 and has hit at pretty much every level of the minors, even with a wrist injury. And last year he absolutely raked in AAA. I see no reason to think that he can't at least be a .750-.800 OPS type player. I'm thinking Lyle Overbay-esque, which would definitely be a productive everyday player to me.
  2. His production last year was a .325 OBP. I don't understand the interest here. Green is likely to hit better than he is. If we're talking a strict platoon with Green and Lee, sure, but does anyone think Roenicke would do that? Agreed. Lee would be a great addition off the bench, starting against lefties, and defensive replacement. But I really would like to see what Green can do. He also shouldn't be rotting away on the bench. Although since he basically took Gomez' spot, he might be the first one sent back when Gomez comes back. If that's the case, then Lee is obviously better than Ishikawa/Conrad.
  3. Umm, shouldn't that be saved for when they're actually at-bat?
  4. All these looking strikes are really starting to piss me off. At least make an attempt.
  5. What in the hell is Morgan doing, seriously? I think Roenicke needs to start sending messages to these guys. Bring up Green/Conrad, sit Weeks, bench Morgan...
  6. If you look at what I wrote, all I said was maybe sitting Gamel helped and maybe it didn't. Like you said, there is no way to really know. But you were insinuating that because he got a hit his first start back, the rest was a good thing. I said that there is not necessarily causation between the two. I also said I wouldn't have had a problem if Roenicke sat him because he thought he was still hurt or he was off. But Roenicke came out and said he wouldn't have sat him if he was swinging the bat better (i.e. he actually got a couple of hits). So my inference from that statement was that he sat him because he was hitless for two days, which like others have pointed out, is bad managing because you play the better talent. Of course all of this is moot because Ishikawa will likely be manning 1B for the foreseeable future.
  7. That's why Aoki is awesome. Even if he strikes out, he works the count.
  8. LOL at Gameday. Said Marcum still has plenty left in tank because his fastball is sitting at 84 over the last 10 pitches.
  9. I don't think it was the wall. I think he tried to stop from crashing into the wall and hurt it when he planted his leg.
  10. I'll admit losing Gamel wouldn't be as bad as losing Braun, ARam, Hart, or Weeks. But I also think he was going to have a big year and now, depending on severity, he might be done for awhile.
  11. So because Ishikawa has a higher OPS, he should be the 1B all year? Come on man, you do understand sample size right? Gamel is easily the better talent, plain and simple.
  12. I really wish they had a better option for a backup 1B. Ishikawa/Conrad are not the answer. I guess the best would be Hart at 1B with Aoki in right but Hart has made it known he doesn't like 1B. The best would probably be both Green and ARam at the corners but I don't think either has much experience there (and ARam probably wouldn't want to play there).
  13. I won't be relieved until tomorrow. Remember Yo actually still pitched with a torn acl.
  14. Green better learn to play 1st. I want no part of Ishikawa as a long-term starter.
  15. Correlation does not equal causation. Maybe Gamel would've hit a couple of home runs if he didn't sit. And maybe sitting did help him clear his head. Just because he got a hit, doesn't mean it's because he had a couple of days off. If Roenicke sat him because he thought he was still hurting or he saw something in his swing, that's fine. But if he sat him because he had a couple of 0-fers, then that's bad managing.
  16. We're now into May and Aoki has only started 3 games, 1 of which was in LF when Braun was hurt. Using his Japanese stats, spring training and what we've seen so far, he really should be getting more PT. Even when he makes an out, he sees a lot of pitches. He works the pitcher, which is a very underrated skill. I see no reason why he shouldn't be getting at least 1 start a week, if not 2. Gomez only starts against lefties (or at least he should) and I think Morgan and Aoki should split the other games. Even with a 60/40 split for Morgan, Aoki should be seeing 2 starts a week. And Hart should get a day off twice a month as well, with Aoki getting some starts there. Hopefully he gets a chance to start tonight.
  17. I get that Hart is good. But I've never been a big fan either. I don't like his defense, I hate how fishes for sliders, I wonder what happened to his speed. So I agree that he can be frustrating to watch. But yeah, he's still good.
  18. Man, Gonzo's been a really nice addition this year. Expected him to be Yuni-esque at the plate but he's been better, plus awesome defense.
  19. No, but it looked like he still took a bad route, which he tends to do often.
  20. Anyone else think Morgan took a bad route to that? It looked like he drifted to his right a lot before going back.
  21. Not if the option is Izturis. Which means they need to bring up Conrad (or Green).
  22. I don't think any of that is really relevant with KRod now. Just because he did something in the past doesn't mean he will repeat it in the future. Is he a good relief pitcher? Yes. Is he the same KRod that he was 4-5 years ago? No. I'm pretty sure he's lost a few MPH in velocity. He's always given up a lot of baserunners but he was able to minimize the damage because he was able to strike guys out. During his lights out years, his K/9 was 12-13. Now he's around 9.5-10. His K/BB ratio has improved but he's also giving up more H/9, going from 5.5-7 to 7-9. All that being said, I still think he's a valuable pitcher. But looking at his career ERA+ or career WHIP or etc. really don't mean anything because of lot of those numbers are skewed from his elite seasons 5+ years ago and he's simply not the same pitcher he was.
  23. I agree that he had to win if they want to keep that Super Cena character. But I hate it. The guy will sell merch no matter what. And yeah I get that ultimately everything is about the money. It would just be nice to see him as something different. Even if he didn't turn heel, maybe turn into something of anti-hero, just something different than his usual crap. Hogan was the good guy for so long it was amazing when he did something different. But obviously that wasn't with Vince and he probably would have never let that happen.
