  1. I can't believe people like that call themselves baseball fans. One guy tried saying we have a good record at home because we close the roof and have weird lighting. Really?
  2. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I still don't get it. It's from the movie The Princess Bride. And it's dumb. Why can't we just refer to him as Roenicke? Nicknames can be funny but sometimes it gets annoying when people try to come up with "clever" nicknames for the entire organization.
  3. Well, Melvin simply chose to ignore both the defensive metrics which said Yuni was terrible and those who watched him play. The same thing happened in KC where Betancourt was stinking up the joint and still being thrown out there everyday. So to answer your question as to why Yuni Betancourt has managed to keep an everyday job this long at shortstop even though for years he's shown terrible range and yearly carried a sub-.300 OBP, my answer would simply be terrible decision making by those choosing to making him their everyday shortstop. Bad decisions happen all the time in baseball, even by those being paid a lot of money to do nothing, but study baseball and that have multiple scouts at their disposal. To be fair, I don't really know if Melvin pays attention to defensive metrics to begin with, considering many think they are flawed. It might've just been a matter of ignoring defensive metrics (or paying little attention to them) and just figuring his offense would outweigh his defense.
  4. I thought everyone on here was already aware of the record. I think we started talking about it when he was like 0-30 and people were just joking but they didn't seriously think he could go 0 for another 16. Now it seems like everyone just wants him to break the record so he will retire and he can be replaced.
  5. Wouldn't fired butter just melt?I would imagine they're coated in something, maybe even a dough. I'm picturing a butter-filled donut hole. And i'm intrigued. Well this just went over everyone's head. Because the original post was "fired butter" instead of "fried butter." As in taking fire to butter would melt it. Nevermind.
  6. I don't get this either. Sure you might not want to use KRod again but there are other options. Disregard.
  7. I don't get this either. Sure you might not want to use KRod again but there are other options.
  8. Wow, Plush scores from 1st on a ball the 2nd basemen has to dive for.
  9. Maybe Roenicke is sick of having him on the team too and wants to get him to retire so he is trying to get him to break the record.
  10. I am the worst speller on the planet but be careful with this one...its moron, you dont want to look like this famous StL Classyhttp://www.briangordon.ca/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Moran.jpgHis post clearly went over your head. He was referencing that.
  11. I like how the STL posters are acting like a call has never gone their way before. Umps miss calls, sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't. edit: sample post JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like we didn't see that :!: coming but for Christs sake that look like he was clearly safe. What happened to tie goes to the runner? that is so far from being the case anymore. NO wonder the Brewers are so good at home. That was a HUGE home call
  12. COBrewerfan would really hate all the rants and knee jerk reactions happening on that Cards message board. Amazing, I thought I was the only one who thought that.
  13. Ok now this is inning is just shocking. 2 plays that would normally result as baserunning outs for the Brewers work out.
  14. Wow, Yuni and McGehee both contributing here.
  15. McGehee is hitting worse this season than Jason Kendall did as a Brewer, would you ever suggest a lineup in 2008 with Jason Kendall hitting #6? No. McGehee is not a major league baseball player, he is just being tolerated because he is cheap for years to come and was good last year at the dish. I would go Morgan 8, Lucroy 2, Braun 7, Fielder 3, Hart 9, Lopez 4, Hairston 5/6, Wilson 6/5 (not sure on Wilson vs Hairy at SS) That might be a good lineup but Roenicke would never do it.
  16. This. The Brewers have been shut out at least 10 times and without looking, probably scored 2 or fewer in maybe 20-25 games. However, with the way the pitching has been lately, 2 may be enough. So i agree that pitching will be the reason the Brewers make the playoffs.
  17. I'm just seeing way too much love for the Pirates and I don't get it. I've seen a lot of 3-4/4-3 predictions and I honestly would be disappointed in anything less than 5-2. Sure they've played a little better this year but we've owned them for years. They are playing over their heads and I fully expect them to come back down to earth. I see a sweep at home and splitting at Pitt. It might be a little tougher to do without Weeks but if our great pitching continues, I think it will happen.
  18. Craig Counsell and his .147 avg say hi. Granted he wasn't added to the roster but he definitely should not continue to be on it.
  19. If they didn't give up anything really of value, then I don't see the harm in at least trying to improve (or giving the fans that impression). I don't know how many fans have been showing up now but maybe more will do so, which would lead to more money. And who knows, maybe Lee and/or Ludwick will go on a hot streak. I hope they don't for the sake of the Brewers but as a Pirates fan, I wouldn't be upset if they didn't give up anything of value for either.
  20. Obviously the team wants to win the division but what if other teams in the division continue to win and suddenly the Central winner has to win in the low 90s. I'm not saying that is going to happen but it's always a possibility and it would be nice if teams like the Braves, Giants, etc. continue to lose to provide that fallback. Basically just keep winning and try to make the playoff anyway possible.
