  1. I could tell on the previous fastball that he was overthrowing.
  2. Well the article I was reading mentioned 0-42 and Haudricourt tweeted it earlier also. Haven't checked since then.McCalvy tweeted the correction earlier.According to baseballreference, Davis also had an 0-46 streak from 06 until 10. I wouldn't count that though since he played for the DBacks in between stints.
  3. No he doesn't actually. They found out that Davis was hitless in his last 7 ab's of '03. So it was actually 0 for 49 and not 42.Well the article I was reading mentioned 0-42 and Haudricourt tweeted it earlier also. Haven't checked since then.
  4. The record for a position player is 0-46 by Bill Bergen in 1906. The all-time record is 0-88 by pitcher Bob Buhl. Counsell already holds Brewers record (Davis was 0-42). edit: The record for lowest qualifying batting average is .139 by Bill Bergen again. Counsell is down to .147.
  5. They just showed Verlander in the dugout and he made a motion to Aybar that he was going to hit him in the back the next time he faces him.
  6. Kotsay back to his normal, non-contributing self. Cut him and bring Carroll back up, who can at least play defense.
  7. Aybar attempted a bunt to break up the no-hitter. I think that is an "expletive" move.
  8. Not sure if anyone is watching the MLB network but Carlos Guillen just had an epic HR staredown at Weaver. Weaver promptly threw at the next batter's head and was tossed.
  9. He's been one of the most dominant setup men for the past few years. I didn't think anyone on this board could not have known that since most here wish we still had him (and some wonder why we let him go in the first place).
  10. Great pitching > great offense. As far as I know, that's a cliche that is based on.... I have no idea. I have never seen any evidence even offered up to support it. Nice to get another early lead. These games have been fun. Hey look a squeeze worked.. that will justify making another 20 outs at home. Not saying it's always the case but recently, pitching has shown to dominate. Plus I prefer a great staff to a great offense. Shootouts might be more fun but I'd rather have the great pitching. And I think this staff as a whole is better than 08 while the offenses have many of the same players.
  11. The PTBNL rule is that the player cannot be in the same league as the team he is to be traded to from the time of the trade until the time the PTBNL is announced. So it affects the 25 man roster but not the 40 man.
  12. All this pressure stuff is overrated. Like monty said, there's pressure just from being in the majors. Sure being in a pennant race is different than playing on a team 25 under .500 but you're still expected to perform no matter what. Give the kid a chance, I really don't see the harm. At worst, he's McGehee with a little better defense. And any upgrade at this point will help.
  13. Cubs would laugh. No way is that enough.
  14. Apparently he listened. Davis was promoted but Schafer, not Komatsu, went to AAA.
  15. Please describe. The only thing I could see him "thinking" about is going to a 5 man IF and shifts. But then he still goes to designated 8th inning guy (was Loe, now KRod) no matter what, ignoring matchups. That's not so much of a problem now with KRod but it definitely was with Loe. He also for awhile would play Kotsay no matter what as the first OF in the game off the bench and uses Counsell as the first PH (cuz he's a veteran despite being 0 for the last 6 weeks). I just see him making more moves because he has designated roles for guys rather than making moves based off of analysis. And the analysis he does use is stuff like Kotsay getting a start because he is 4-12 against a certain pitcher.
  16. For the record, I never said (or didn't mean to if I did) that bringing in KRod was stupid. I really don't like Roenicke but I understand why he did it. But KRod has also shown some tendency to implode (Schroeder was talking last night about how Roenicke told him it's "a wild ride" watching him pitch). So I would've at least seen what Narveson had to start the 8th. Like I said it's not really a stupid move, I just would've done something different. If Roenicke didn't make so many other stupid decisions this year, I probably wouldn't care as much.
  17. Quite a few people (including me) posted in the IGT that they still would've walked a guy or two to set up the double play last night. I just thought there was a better chance of getting one ground ball to turn two than getting three outs in a row (without having the runner tag). Those who say they are fine with taking out Narveson because they didn't want the big inning, wouldn't you have at least thought to let him start the inning until he gave up a baserunner? I really don't see the harm in that. Like I said, at worst it's 2-1.
  18. Everything here, especially bolded. People were questioning the move from the beginning. Nobody was saying they wanted Narveson to pitch the entire inning. That would've been horrible managing if he let a couple get on and you left him out there. The point is he should've at least started the inning but had KRod ready to go. The worst possible situation there (other than another injury) would be if the leadoff lefty hit a HR. Then it's 2-1 Brewers and you bring in KRod. Also, I've said it before COBrewerfan but once again, you're complaining about people complaining. To say that it isn't even worth discussing is asinine. This is a discussion board. There have been plenty other things posted recently that aren't worth discussing (like the 1st place Brewers being sellers) before questioning whether you take out a guy pitching his best ball all year on a low pitch count.
  19. We can't get Carroll now, we already have Brett Carroll. That would be too confusing. Although we did have the 2 Moutons...
  20. I said he should come out to BA Billy Gunn's theme song but replace the words with "axe man." Wrestling fans will get it. That would be sweet.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYu-cBXGClU

  22. Career .609 OPS in the bigs but .791 in the minors. We just need him to play average defense and hit lefties.
