  1. It's frustrating to see such a nice start go pear-shaped so quickly. I imagine Narveson comes back out for the seventh. I hope he gets a chance at a win, here. Other than the sixth, he's been filthy.
  2. Narveon's half-inning went so fast I thought for a second that the Brewers were hitting in the same inning. Keep piling on, Crew.
  3. I don't know why McGehee would assume the throw would go to the plate - Fielder never gets waved around,* so there's never a throw home. *I think he should, but he doesn't.
  4. Too bad he plays for the Reds instead of the Cardinals. Will "classy Cardinals" jokes ever get old? I vote no.
  5. Some hitters (usually good ones) pick their walk rate up a little bit as they mature. Braun's only around 28, so he's just getting into his prime. He won't take 100 walks, but 70 would be a huge difference, especially because if pitchers can't get him to strike out on junk off the plate as much, that will boost his power numbers (less junk off the plate, more favorable counts => more good pitches to hit).
  6. Like I said earlier, baseball is a funny game. Get smoked by the Washington Nationals, then roll into Philly, take the series, and beat the stuffing out of the best pitcher in baseball.
  7. You know it's not your night when Almonte beats you. Conversely, you know it's your night when Almonte knocks in two runs.
  8. The Brewers get completely shut down by the likes of Livan Hernandez, Tom Gorzelanny and (whatever warm body started the other game for Washington), and now they're crushing the Phillies. Baseball is a funny game sometimes.
  9. It's nice to knock around last year's Cy Young winner. It'd be even nicer to knock in a few more here so I don't have to worry.
  10. That was Maddux-esque. You know the way that Maddux would see the opposing pitcher, and just pump fastballs on the outside corner until the pitcher grounded out weakly? He wouldn't even try to waste the pitches getting a strike-out. Well, Halladay just took his frustrations out on Almonte. He threw three pitches over the plate, and Almonte had no chance at any of them.
  11. You shut your dirty mouth, PEM! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif All joking aside, it was really nice to see Kotsay work that count, and a nice swing to punch it into right field.
  12. Unless MLB applies some personal behavior rule, there's no way he gets anything more than probation, so I doubt he misses any time...
  13. I'm always concerned when any pitcher starts getting wild. Hopefully it's just a mechanical adjustment that he and Pitching Coach can work out.
  14. As some (mostly Russ, I think?) have said, this is a pretty good team that could be really good by plugging in some holes with decent back-ups, or even starters with some sort of value to the team to replace roster junk (Mark Kotsay, I'm looking at you). There's no good reason Kotsay and Almonte should be on this team ahead of Boggs. If he's blocked at the position by Hart, give him a chance to prove some value as a future trade bait. At the very least, he gives you an actual chance to get on base or knock an XBH with a pinch-hit opportunity. Kotsay and Almonte are rapidly confirming their recent norms (Almonte in the minors, Kotsay is complete junk).
  15. It would be awfully nice to get a double-play ball here and get to the fifth.
  16. That's because Yo is a better hitter than Kotsay and Gomez, at least.
  17. It's so nice to take an early lead. Come on Brewers, put together a little two-out rally. Edit: I still despise you, Mark Kotsay.
  18. The only people who don't think JJ Hardy is a fantastic defender are Brewers fans, for some odd reason. His range, glove, and arm are all very, very good. His real problem has always been staying on the field.
  19. I have to agree with that - PNC Park is an absolute gem of a stadium. I hope the Pirates reach some semblance of respectability soon so more fans get out there and enjoy it.
  20. I like to put it this way: with more contribution from three big players (Hart, McGehee, Greinke) and some better pitching, we could have had a terrific start. There are All-Star caliber players who haven't done anything yet. Hart and Greinke haven't seen the field, Lucroy has one game under his belt (and there was one game that Nieves could have won if he'd been able to ground out either of two separate instances in which he did not), and Randy Wolf soiled himself on the mound twice (figuratively, of course), costing games in the process. McGehee also has done nothing outside of crushing the dreams of poor, sad Kerry Wood for a day. As for Gomez, well, he's junk at the plate. It can only be so long until he's moved out of the 2 slot for good.
  21. While it's commendable that Roenicke isn't changing things based on day-to-day impressions, it's also been pretty clear for the last couple of seasons that Kotsay is junk and Morgan is better than him and Gomez. Gomez also should be nowhere near the 2 spot.
  22. Wow. Inappropriate, unfounded and off-topic. I'll just get in before the lock. On topic, we really don't know anything about this event, the original commeter on brewers.com, or Corey Hart's rehab schedule. That read like sarcasm to me, but I might be crazy. My guess is scheduling mix-up.
  23. Something to remember here is that Wells and Cashner were shut down completely for 10-14 days with an evaluation to follow. They might be gone considerably longer.
  24. Now that Vin Scully has retired (I think?), Uecker is definitely the best overall radio announcer in the game. Scully was the only one in his league.
