  1. I've played with a number of organizations, and the Brewers are one of the classiest. The Cardinals do not approve.
  2. The best thing I've read is Macha's comment that they did not give Parra enough of a chance. If you like him or not, he's the highest-ceiling-ed pitcher on the staff, and they need to just keep throwing him at the mound until he sticks or proves (proves, not just has a bad couple of games) that he doesn't belong on a MLB roster.
  3. That guy really reads like an idiot.
  4. Chicago Cubs=PBR - they both won something more than a century ago, and despite the horrible taste, it's really popular among people with questionable proclivities.
  5. He had half the team's walks and almost a third of their total appearances on base. Hopefully this is the beginning of him getting back in the swing of things, to pardon the pun.
  6. By pinch-hitting (and pulling the pitcher), you're betting on winning it this at-bat. If you're doing that, why not pinch-hit with the back-up catcher?
  7. Casey McGehee going the other way again. It sure would be nice if some of the other hitters on this team would do that with those outside pitches.
  8. Axford's throwing gas out there. He hit 97 on the gun a couple of times. Two Ks and a pop-up. Beautiful.
  9. I just cannot finish my take-home final, which is my last one. I have until tomorrow at noon, but I want to be done now.
  10. I remember being abroad watching that US-Germany game - the foul that drew the spot kick was a joke. Anyway, I agree that Donovan and Dempsey should probably be attacking midfielders. The US's greatest success has invariable come when Donovan is free to get the ball and run forward - he's not really a holding midfielder. Donovan, Altidore, and Onyewu are my keys to the US's hopes. Without good defense, even Tim Howard (who is a stud) is vulnerable, and Donovan needs to push the attacking game, with Altidore using his size, strength, and speed to create chances for himself.
  11. That's not quite right. He got six ground ball outs to three fly outs. A couple of those hits were ground balls. Three strike-outs in four innings is good. Two of those walks were in his last inning when he tired and the strike zone shrank to the size of a wallet, and he still got a ground ball to get out of it. He did fine; he just needs to stretch out more and learn to adjust to a disappearing strike zone.
  12. I think it; he says it. My thoughts exactly. Although, if you're looking for a low-leverage save, this is it. You're facing 8-PH-1 in the bottom of the ninth with a cushion, and there aren't any real Brewer-killers on the bench, although Heisey seems to be getting there.
  13. I'm not sure I've said this before, but I really like McGehee's approach. He takes the pitches that come to him, and hits them where they are. It's a nice contrast to all the other hitters that try to pull everything all the time. Frankly, he reminds me of Carlos Lee. He's always looking to hit it the other way or back up the box.
  14. I always like seeing a lefty come in to face Prince. I don't know his numbers, but he hits a first-pitch homer often enough to make me like the move.
  15. I'm glad someone else feels this way. I am as high on Gallardo as anybody, but it is so frustrating to see him waste 20-30 pitches per start on junk instead of going after hitters.
  16. I like this. If they don't turn it around soon, they're going to be selling at the deadline. If that's the case, give all the young guys with upside try-outs. Hopefully Manny continues his decent start. A power lefty with an ERA under 4 is great, especially a young one with the ability to prove.
  17. Slightly tangential, but it's so nice to have a bunch of power arms coming through the minors that are not just on Dr. James Andrews's waiting list.
  18. That was some play by Gerut in center. It totally made watching the game while I should have been studying worth it. It kinda hurt, though, to see Vargas cough up five runs, especially when Hart crushed that pitch for a three-run home run.
