  1. I think we saw this same situation the other day. The result was a three-run bomb by Soto. Not surprisingly, the Cubs are going to storm off with this one.
  2. I'm going with a slappy pinch-hitter. That, or a hit by pitch, sac bunt and two wild pitches.
  3. Hit... hit by... You say "Tomato," I say "Of course I agree with you, he got an RBI!"
  4. Does Branyan's 3TO-ness help or hurt in this situation? Pro - can't GIDP - high likelihood of scoring a run without swinging the bat or a lot by swinging the bat Con - not likely to hit a sac fly - only way to score multiple runs is to go yard I say it's good.
  5. Ben Sheets takes a walk and suddenly he thinks he's a hitter http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Swinging at the second pitch. That's crazy talk, Ben!
  6. That's nothing. Calculate Branyan's 3TO against the other guy...
  7. I predict a 1.200 OPS from some the ball boy in Soriano's absence. This won't hurt them at all. I do find it ironic that after a Cubs player takes out Gallardo, a former Brewer returns the favor with Soriano.
  8. That's pretty much what I expected. The Braves are an awful road team. I will be very surprised if the Cubs don't dominate this series so hard that even they'd feel bad for the Braves.
  9. Go for the sac bunt! Do it, Seth! (Just trying to get my opinion out there before there's an outcome.)
  10. Doesn't matter if Chicago spots 'em ten. I'll only be happy about the opposing team leading the Cubs when the inning says "F." Until then, it doesn't matter.
  11. I'm so glad Ned is giving away base runners at the start of the game. Putting somebody on for free ahead of the hottest hitter in baseball is just dumb. Especially since it took McClung two pitches to do it.
  12. I've stopped expecting the Cubs to regress to the mean, fall back to Earth, or anything like that. This year they just look really good. There are always two or three guys performing, at least, and it's usually four to six. Derrek Lee slumps, Aramis Ramirez picks up; Aramis Ramirez slumps, Alfonso Soriano picks up, etc.
  13. Braun has a four-hit day. That's pretty nice, especially against a righty.
  14. Uecker's call was very exciting on that Prince home run. Gotta love it!
  15. Manny Parra is giving Brandon Backe an epic at-bat! Go Manny!
  16. That's why defense is so hard to quantify. One person says, "Did you see that diving play? That was amazing!" and another person says, "A good shortstop keeps his feet making that play." The stats are extremely hard to determine/rule.
  17. Teixeira also kind of sucks vs. lefties this year. It wasn't a bad move. Walking him was, though.
  18. McClung's gassed. He never should have faced Teixeira. With the way the Brewers are swinging the bats, I think this game might be just about over.
  19. Yeah, that's balancing out Rickie Weeks's batting average and Corey Hart's tendency to hit screaming line drives directly at outfielders.
  20. Now Corky Miller is up after two free passes. Is anybody else worried about the .083 hitter feasting on Brewers pitching? Hey, I'm wrong! Double play!
  21. Gameday has the replay. It looked to me like it should mostly be on Prince. Rickie had a really tough play to get that throw over there. Then McClung walked the unwalkable wonder, on four pitches no less. I hope the debris that I'm seeing strewn along the side of the road isn't what was keeping the wheels on.
  22. If I were the hitting coach, and instructing a pitcher on what to do with nobody on base, I'd tell them to watch until they had two strikes. You're not getting a hit, and the best you can hope for is that the guy opposing you wastes extra pitches on you.
  23. I'll have to wait for the replay, but it sure sounds like it should be an error rather than a hit. Rickie Weeks's defense is frustrating. It's good to see McClung getting all these ground balls, though.
  24. McClung should just plunk Chipper next time he comes up. Save some pitches, and don't let the guy on base get to third http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. It's fitting that their lights-out closer comes in and chokes away a W.
