  1. To go or not to go... There are right field bleacher seats available, my favorite spot, and I don't have anything going on tonight, but Vargas is pitching, meaning I'll be in the ballpark until 1am... I'm torn!
  2. I agree with everybody who says Bush can go 7+, and if he'd finished the 7th tonight, it couldn't have been much worse than what the pen coughed up. I remember Barrett's foul tip with two strikes and being angry at Estrada. I thought at that moment that not getting that strikeout might come back to hurt us, and sure enough it did.
  3. I can't imagine sitting Corey Hart right now. Remember when Yost rode Mench's "hot hand" to a .662 OPS?
  4. I don't know what bucksman meant with that comment, but when I see two strikes on Rickie Weeks, I assume a strikeout and am shocked if there is a different outcome. He just currently seems so susceptible to the punch-out. He still can't hit a breaking ball to save his life. This has nothing to do with him being a leadoff hitter and everything to do with him sucking at the plate lately. I'm glad he got a day off. He could probably use it.
  5. Shouse is old - he's 37 or 38, and he's not dominant by any means. He has a funky sidearm delivery that throws lefties off-balance, but he's hittable. Can anybody recap me some post-game radio or tv comments or interviews?
  6. I was thinking that he should have brought in Cordero after those two walks, especially since Sportsline was showing all those fastballs and nowhere near the plate.
  7. Not only are we pounding Hudson's sinker down, we're swinging at it early.
  8. What happened to the Bill Hall who wasn't a dead duck on the base paths? Wasn't this guy a base-stealing threat in the past?
  9. I'm not sure what this feeling is... it's been so long I don't remember - oh yeah, it's called getting an early lead. Nice to see.
  10. Don't get me started - I was at that game yesterday with my dad, who said, "He's dogging it - I sure hope that Estrada didn't just cost us the game," followed by a quick text from my brother asking how Estrada didn't score. Edit: also, I love to see lefties called in to face Prince - I really do. I remember last year at Miller Park against the Mets when Fielder dented the Roadrunner sign - same situation.
  11. Lately I'd much rather see Rickie's job being bunting runners over... JJ!! RBI Single! Yeah!
  12. I think you should rephrase that:
  13. Even worse, Soup bunts into the DP. This game hurts me.
  14. Dear Pitching, You owe us big-time. - Infield Defense PS - Offense, that goes for you, too.
  15. Now an infield single... When Suppan hasn't been bad he's been unlucky...
  16. Is it just me or does anybody else think that's the ballgame?
  17. Jose Cruz and Mike Cameron really bailing Soup out there... Let's get something in the top half, huh, Brewers?
  18. We in the business like to call that a "wasted lead-off single."
  19. End, it doesn't matter if the opposing manager trots out a lefty specialist - Fielder routinely makes those guys pay for thinking he's easier to retire vs. a lefty. You also really want Jenkins up in that lineup - he KILLS Maddux, and you want him to get as many ABs as possible against him.
  20. That may actually be the best spot for him to get comfortable - he'll see a lot of good pitches between Hardy and Fielder. One reason Hardy has been tearing it up is because pitchers would rather try to test him than Fielder, and he's been feasting on high fastballs so far. Imagine Braun getting the same benefit right out of the gate instead of being relegated to 6-7-8 purgatory.
  21. Anybody have lineup thoughts? I was just trying to come up with some, but I'm lost, especially with wanting Jenkins in an impact spot (3-4-5) because he kills Maddux, and wanting Braun reasonably high, but then there's the Weeks/Gwynn location conundrum. I imagine Gwynn will start vs righties since it's in San Diego and he's Ned's current "hot hand."
  22. That record looks pretty good right now. What we are doing currently is called "putting our foot on the neck of the NL Central." Don't let up, Brewers.
  23. Go home, Matt Capps. You're not welcome around here.
  24. Prince Fielder is pretty good. This is some day he's having. Estrada with a sac bunt. I would love to see... Hey! A righty pinch-hitting! Too bad it's Graffanino.
  25. We got out of it - how about CV the younger? That kid can deal... ...when he's not walking people.
