  1. I get the feeling that the Brewers break that streak of theirs tonight. After all, the Dodgers were slumping (0-whatever in their last few games) and we gave them a pickup, and the Cubs were doing okay and we kicked them into what became an eight-game skid. Hopefully we do that to the Padres. I don't want to see two consecutive sweeps.
  2. I like the thought of Davis on the mound tonight. He's been picking it up lately. Hopefully his slow start was just that, a slow start. Now if Clark would pick it up, Sheets would be not injured and our bullpen would stop leaking runs like a sieve, we could be in good shape.
  3. Those pictures look more like the aftermath of a brawl than a play at the plate.
  4. Pee-hands Alou is killing us this series.
  5. Turnbow has a little breathing room to get the save. Anybody have numbers for attendance? Edit: thanks for the info, mark.
  6. Hopefully the pitching staff gives up no more runs so Davis can come away from this with a win.
  7. Wow, it took two pitchers and six hitters to get the first out. That's a rough inning, and it's not over yet. Maybe we should have left Davis in, despite the pitch count... C'mon, Latin Cappy, get out of it. Edit: a K and a fly-out. Finally.
  8. Is it too much to ask to score a run from 3rd with less than two outs? Apparently, yes. Of course, Cirillo's out coming from Brady Clark scores a run. Take the good with the bad. At least we're heading toward a W.
  9. somethings brewing this inning. I thought you'd jinxed it when Hall and Jenkins flied out without advancing the runners, but Lee came through. You're off the hook, for now... /shifty eyes
  10. If you call up an outfielder for this hypothetical "mystery" injury, it really has to be Hart. He's the most Major League ready. Edit: In-game news - with Matheny coming to the plate, I thought, "Ideally, he records a one-pitch out." Then, sure enough, he does!
  11. Hennessey walked Fielder. Good to see that there's no retaliation. Edit: make him pay, Prince. Stolen Base #3.
  12. Davis retires three straight batters after giving up a lead-off double. His ERA is now an even 6. That's good to see. Alright, bats, keep hitting!
  13. Yup, for the first time since Saturday. Eh, I thought it was funny. You know, Doug Davis, unlucky pitcher, etc. Never mind - if you have to explain a joke, that means it's not funny. I'm blaming it on the Internet and not facing the truth that I'm not funny.
  14. Doug Davis can now pitch with a lead for the first time ever. Imagine if Doug Davis pitched well AND got decent run support. These things have never happened in the same game! Hennessey is definitely looking hittable. If this keeps up we should be able to chase him early. I wonder if we'll see Steve Kline (lefty reliever) today. Had a chat with him in the bullpen last night (I was in Section 101). Good guy.
  15. What lineup are you looking at? He's at SS. Maybe he was talking about the play Hall made? Anyway, it's nice to see Doug Davis get a couple of Ks and no walks in an inning. Keep it up!
  16. It's just too bad that Bush's two bad pitches hurt him, and Schmidt managed to get out of his few bad pitches. That was a heck of a game to watch if you like pitching.
  17. I have a twenty pack of season tickets in the right field bleachers, and I have tickets to the last two home games of the season, against the Giants. If I catch #756 I'm selling it. I hate Barroid Bonds, but I'm neither so proud nor so devoted to the sanctity of the game that I wouldn't stoop to making millions off of a man's ability to lie, cheat and dope to break the game's most famous record.
  18. Much as I hate to see it, it's necessary. He hasn't been on all night. Hopefully Li'l Ben can throw better than Big Ben has been.
  19. After stepping downstairs to catch some of this on tv, it's just that his pitches aren't looking sharp. There's less bite on his curveball, and it's tending to hang.
  20. Once again we come up empty with runners in scoring position. Lead-off single + stolen base = three straight batters retired on ground balls. Edit: do we know why Ohka is getting subbed out? Update: Ueck says he left the game with discomfort. C'mon Jose.
  21. Tomo works the batters to get out of the inning. That was some nice work. In other news, Tim Hudson closed out that game against the Rockies with one hit. To the pitcher. How ironic.
  22. Nuts. It'd be nice to see the bases left loaded a little less frequently. I'm not sure that makes sense. Don't get useless outs with the bases loaded. You make fans unhappy.
  23. I only followed the game on Gameday and I was a bit surprised that they didn't send JJ from 2nd. I favor a more aggressive style of play than many, though, so take that for what it's worth.
  24. I keep hearing this mentioned with Brady Clark's hitting woes lately. What is the Mendoza line? Is he a former player?
