  1. I don't like one-pitch outs when you only have one out and a man on 2nd. Let's go Koskie. Take the lead!
  2. I love Jeff Francoeur. The man bites at curveballs in the dirt worse than Rickie Weeks. KKKKKKK
  3. K number six courtesy of Andruw Jones.
  4. The fly-out was on pitch 9 for Chad. He's a battler http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Brewers really seeing the ball against Sosa today. It's only a matter of time before we start turning those pitches into hits.
  6. Giles scores McCann on a single to center. Time to get the third out and repay the favor... Marcus Giles caught stealing 2nd. Bobby Cox getting aggressive. Shows that they're worried about getting to Sheets. Let's put up some runs, now, Brew Crew.
  7. Heck of an at-bat for Carlos. Seven pitches and counting, started down 0-2. Nuts, grounds out on pitch #8.
  8. Can someone describe what happened with the bat? I didn't see it, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of it in the news reports.
  9. No - he's pulled off a lot of gems so far. The Sexson deal got us six guys, most of whom I can't remember anymore, and a bunch of whom have been turned back around, but Cappy remains. There was Podsednik and Vizcaino for Lee. Overbay and a minor-leaguer for Bush, Jackson and Gross. A package of brats and a bottle of Secret Stadium Sauce for Corey Koskie at half price. Spivey for Ohka. I predict that by the deadline we move Zach Jack to #5 and deal Ohka. I expect we'll get another blockbuster deal for that one, too.
  10. That's my kind of deal. Trade Capellan for Kolb, activate self-destruct button on Kolb, reclaim from scrap heap, rebuild into top-shelf reliever. It's the picture of effective management!
  11. It's an AP article - one of the frustrating things about it is that Pettitte gives props to Cappy - he talks about the fact that HE needed to pitch well, and it's HIS fault because he knew Cappy was pitching so well on the other end. Stupid sports media.
  12. On the subject of Preston Wilson, Bill and Daron mentioned that the other day when he grounded out to third for the first non-K out in a while, he got a standing ovation. So, either the Astros fans have a very dry collective wit, or they're very supportive of their slumping player. Great win to see. This game was a lot of fun to watch tonight. I like the proposal that the game be shortened to the last three innings. No relief staff is safe from the Brew Crew!!
  13. The Bucs' catcher broke up the no-no in the sixth, but Carpenter has only thrown sixty-eight pitches through six. He may go for the complete game.
  14. My thoughts, having not watched after the fourth: This was a tremendous effort to come from behind, and remember, the Astros are one of the hottest teams in baseball right now. What's their record? 9-5? 10-5? They're tearing up opposing pitchers, and they're renowned, not for their bats, but for their arms. To run up the score against them twice gives us some good indications that our bats may yet start to win some games instead of just hold the innings while our pitching staff does all the work. This road trip is MURDER. Ask any manager if they want to take a road trip against Albert "I hit home runs faster than Preston Wilson strikes out" Pujols, the Mets, who are hitting .320 as a team, and the Astros, who are tearing it up on both sides of the ball, and they wouldn't be able to respond - they'd just start shaking on the ground and crying for mommy. You're looking at the defending NL Central winners, the defending NL Champs (who got significantly better in the off-season), and the hottest team in baseball and likely future NL Champs. So far, we've come up with one win each against two of them. Pull out tomorrow's game, and we could be alright. The criticism of hitters is starting to get to me a little bit. Not that we're criticising hitters, but the way in which we're doing it. One post it's that they're watching too many early pitches, and in the next they shouldn't be swinging at the first pitch. Which is it? You can't knock Bill Hall for not swinging at pitches that make it 0-1 and 0-2 and then knock Damian Miller for swinging at the first pitch which would, in all honesty, be 0-1, both against Lidge. There's a real double standard there, and it's frustrating me to see it. I like going pitcher by pitcher. Guys like Brad Lidge and Roy Oswalt are too good to let any good strike just go by. They'll drop you into an 0-2 hole and then you're chasing nasty sliders and curveballs and you're catching up the whole time. Guys that wear down or are mistake-prone, let 'em throw a few more pitches. I think we can take tomorrow. The bats are getting hot, and we're still brutalising opposing relievers. If Cappy can get a quality start tomorrow, I feel good about it. This team has holes, sure. The bullpen has been dying lately, and the starters haven't been doing a heck of a lot lately. RISP is still a problem. I think they can work through some of these things. I've never been happier to see a road trip end.
  15. I wouldn't be too worried about Wise, jloos. It's one rough outing. Otherwise, he's been awfully sharp, and he's seen a lot of time on a long, nasty road trip. One week ago nobody thought to be worried about Wise, but they were worried about Turnbow because he'd been wild in some of his appearances. I'm looking forward to watching this game tonight.
  16. If we're going to get three-hit by a rookie making his first start one night (even if we scored six runs on those three hits), we're bound to tattoo the ace that starts the next night. I think we can make Oswalt feel sorry he even stepped onto the mound today.
  17. Thanks, mods. I don't mind some negative thinking (I've been a brewer fan for all 24 years of my life; I know it!) and some discussion and even argument - but when these guys start sounding like scrub fan trolls, it strays a bit far into the area of ridiculous. It was getting really hard to even read threads anymore.
  18. There was a big Dave Bush resemblance discussion in the last game he started. Some agreements were reached on looking like one of the Bobs from Office Space who was also in Scrubs, and Seann William Scott, of "Stiffler" fame from American Pie. Anyway, about the game: hopefully the Brewers shake their habit of getting blanked by rookies and soft-tossing old guys. After all, we haven't tattooed any aces yet this year, which usually either preceded or followed an embarrassing outing. Either way, if this kid gets the better of us, that just means that we'll drive Oswalt or Pettitte's ERA numbers up closer to their age in one of the other games. What I would like to see in the game today: 1) Fielder moved up in the order. I would like to see him hitting fifth, or preferably third, with Jenkins fifth - Jenkins has historically (stat-heads, back me up here) hit better in the five-hole than in the three, if memory serves. Then move Koskie to seven. 2) Some offense, please. 3) Second straight error-free game. 4) The good Dave Bush, not the bad. 5) Never mind the rest, I just want to see a win.
  19. GONE!!! CARLOS LEE!!! HE DOES IT ALL!!!
  20. WHOOO!!! Carlos Lee with the grab at the warning track! My heart started going a mile a minute when I heard "hit well to left field, this is a high fly ball" but Carlos makes the grab. Now it's time for El Caballo to win it with the bat.
  21. If he was going to try to steal, why did he go with two outs? That inning was pretty much just a listing of bad plays and stupid mistakes. Edit: I hate David Eckstein so much.
  22. Brady lead-off walk! Now we see Cirillo, Jenkins, Lee. Hopefully one of these guys can get some runs going.
  23. The scrubs have a worse defensive catcher... Chad strikes out, and JJ grounds a weak one straight to Pujols. Bottom nine - we need to hold 'em here.
  24. Did anybody else in Madison lose 1070?
