  1. This is why I hate the Reds. Crap like a little blooper hitting the grass that Rickie can't hold on to.
  2. That's embarrassing. At least Gomes didn't go yard, which is the usual follow-up to that kind of Bad News Bears defense. Now, there's a wild pitch and Phillips is at third. This is ridiculous.
  3. I'm not sold on Josh Wilson's defense, if we're going that route. I love Counsell's glove - he's lost a step in the infield, but he's still one of the only plus defenders we have out there.
  4. He was terrible in '09, but did alright in '07 and '08. I agree that going to the minors didn't help him.
  5. Roenicke knew that Gibson was going to bring in a righty to face McGehee: http://www.jsonline.com/s...s/brewers/125121348.html
  6. This is an Earl Weaver win - pitching (Yo, Hawk, and Ax), defense (great plays by Gamel, Counsell, Weeks, and Kotsay), and a three-run homer.
  7. That play is why Counsell is on this team - Betancourt would just wave at that one with his glove as it scooted into left field for a base hit.
  8. Wow. I am surprised and pleased that my doom and gloom prediction didn't hold up.
  9. Roenicke'd. That lefty was having serious struggles finding the zone. Pulling Gamel did Gibson a favor allowing him to pull his LOOGY.
  10. I wanted them to pull him before that last batter, but it worked out. Great outing by Yo - now it's time to get him a W.
  11. I hate games like this. One bad pitch from Yo, and the Brewers hit the ball all over the field, but directly at defenders every time. Normally, I'd predict that they break through against Collmenter because he's not fooling anybody, but not with the way things have gone lately.
  12. I'm not sure Yuni makes that play from the SS position. I'm only half-joking.
  13. Nice pitching and a great, great play by Rickie to get out of that jam. I was expecting bad news there.
  14. The starting pitching has been really bad lately. The All-Star break can't come soon enough.
  15. I'm glad that the Brewers are done facing three of the best teams in the major leagues. They have home series left against the Phillies and the Marlins, and road series against most of the NL West, but the rest is pretty much just the NL Central. Being in first place after playing nine games against AL East teams that will probably all finish with 90+ wins is pretty good, even if it looked terrible.
  16. Alright, Randy. This game is over. Try to keep your pitch count down so you can absorb as many innings as possible.
  17. Stupid interleague schedule. It sure would be nice to play the Blue Jays, Orioles, and [one good team]. It would be even better to get two of those series at home. Is it unfair? Yeah. Is it on the Brewers to perform no matter what? Yeah. Am I going to keep complaining about it? Yeah.
  18. You know that feeling in the air when it's about to thunderstorm, but the sun's still shining, and the wind hasn't picked up yet? That's how I feel about this game. Burnett's not been so hot for the past season and a half, and Marcum has been really good this season, particularly on the road, but this feels like it'll be 10-1 Yankees before the third inning starts.
  19. http://deadspin.com/58149...an-goes-and-flies-a-kite More evidence that T Plush is awesome.
  20. He should ask one of the scariest hitters in all of baseball. You know, the guy second in the majors in OPS.
  21. One minute it looks like the Brewers will get nothing from a leadoff triple. Two minutes later, the Brewers are up 3-1.
  22. I definitely agree with the opinion that you want guys swinging at a first pitch in that situation. I also agree that Weeks had a good at-bat - he was just unlucky, and if the line drive (or the defender) had been a couple of feet either way, the Brewers would be leading.
  23. How sad is it that when McGehee comes up I just hope that he can take a few pitches before meekly getting himself out?
  24. That's another nice, quick inning for Wolf. Hopefully the bats can wake up.
  25. It takes Randy Wolf to break up the no-no. That's funny.
