  1. No kidding. It was a great move by Yost to keep Parra in for the lefty and get out of the inning. The bullpen is overworked as it is. Not only that, but we don't have an off day for awhile. It's not asking a ton out of Parra to go 5 innings.
  2. Parra's performance is exactly why I was somewhat advocating for him to start the year in Nashville (before Cappy's injury and releasing Vargas). He's going to be good, but he's still developing.
  3. Not an awful performance by Parra, but with his pitch count at what it's at I doubt he'll see the 6th inning. Parra seems to be the odd man out of the rotation and should benefit from getting some work in Nashville. Hopefully that goes well and he'll be able to stay in games a little bit longer.
  4. Prince...that's a ball you need to get to step up for your pitcher.
  5. That was a joke. Those two pitches were balls, but it was nice to see Ryan lay off the outside pitches.
  6. I think given the Bucks recent performance the past few years and with Kohl's reputation for getting in the way of things the Bucks did as well as I'd have hoped if not better in the GM hire and Skiles. I really don't know what more Bucks fans could realistically ask for in terms of a head coach. I still can't believe Skiles took this job, but money talks and it'll be good to have an experienced coach here for the first time since George Karl left.
  7. He's lost just enough velocity that combined with a lack of command spells trouble. Is there any reason to think that his lack of being used so far this year is a reason why the velocity is down? I agree with you if he can't get his velocity back up combined with his control issues it doesn't look good for Turnbow.
  8. Thought this is as good a place as any but the Cardinals TV crew had a pretty low opinion of Yost and the color guy mentioned that when he talks to 'people who know things' about the Brewers they say that Yost would be lucky to get six weeks into the season before Simmons takes over. I was just about to post this. I'm neither anti or pro Yost, but to elaborate a little more the Cards' guy said that the immediate feeling among those that know baseball was that when Simmons was hired he would replace Yost early in the season as the Brewers manager.
  9. Turnbow needed to pitch in a close game to get confidence There comes a point and time where Turnbow is going to have to be counted on or be out of town. Hopefully this pushes the envelope into getting him out of town. If he's on the roster and he has to be counted on whether we like it or not. The main question isn't why did he go in, but why is he on the roster if he doesn't have confidence.
  10. I guess my point is that some thought before the 25 man was finalized that it would be ridiculous if CV or Parra were sent down. I know we like our young pitchers and young players for that matter, but I don't think at this point either is a finished product. I do think CV rebounded nicely last night and got his control back a bit. I think Parra should get sent down if everyone is healthy and if he gets sent down it's not the end of the world and I'm sure we'll see him back in Milwaukee sooner rather than later. His next start could go a long way in determining his fate.
  11. That's a tough out. Hall has to be able to get that ball in the air, but that's baseball I guess.
  12. Wow. Could you attribute that to the 'stache? lol I think you can. Everyone needs a 'stache on the Crew. Who will be the last to grow it? Braun?
  13. Braun looks like he's getting it going again. That's very encouraging to see.
  14. Can we stop this? We know you're just trying to get the people who questioned Yost's decisions yesterday to fire back. This is Corey's fault. I honestly and seriously want to know when it's a manager's fault and when it's not. I'm not trying to get anyone going or anything I just think it's a fair question to ask in that regard. And I don't think I should have to "stop" that because it's an honest question. I haven't seen too many posts giving Yost credit for anything and I'll give Yost credit for bunting with Suppan and using Shouse and then bringing in Mota. I think Yost has done pretty well this game from a pure managerial point of view.
  15. So when is this officially Yost's fault?
  16. They pinch hit Ludwick for Duncan. Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. It makes sense to bring in Shouse when they did.
  17. Why did Shouse start this inning out? Was the first hitter a switcher hitter or is he strictly a righty?
  18. Horrible Hart. Man oh man that could come back and haunt the Crew pretty bad.
  19. I may have missed something...but what is up with the mustaches some of the Brewers are sporting?
  20. I'm not a Yost basher, I think he gets a lot of undue crap on this board, but not for his actions yesterday. He, not Gagne, gets the blame from me. Because he trusted his new closer in saying he's ready? You can say it's Yost's fault, but I feel it's a learning experience. Gagne only threw 11 pitches on Saturday and pitched 4 games in 4 days last year with Texas so it's not like Yost is reinventing the wheel here. Gagne is fragile and can't pitch four straight days unlike other closers so hopefully the Brewers know this now. I wouldn't jump ship after one game on this. New players are a learning experience for the coaches and Yost. If Gagne is that tired that he can't get 1 out 3 players to get one out of three guys out he shouldn't even be pitching 3 days in a row. And as far as the money...it does matter. You make the cash you better do your job. It's that way in baseball and most other jobs outside of sports. With the big bucks comes the pressure and added expectations.
  21. I hate to bring this thread up again, but reading this makes me think of how Brewer nation may be a little too high on CV and in a way Parra. They both are young guys and sending either one to the minors isn't a crazy idea back then and it's not now. They need more experience whether that's the bigs or the minors. I think as fans we can over evaluate guys sometimes, but so far CV and Parar haven't shown that it'd be that ridiculous to send them to Nashville for a bit -- the Sheets injury might make it a moot point, but CV and Parra haven't shown to be consistent pitchers so far and one or the other will most likely be in Nashville soon if Sheets is healthy.
  22. People seemed to like the prospect of Skiles being head coach more than the prospect of Carlisle. Why? I'm going to guess that Carlisle is close to taking a different job. Isn't he in the running for the Knicks job?
  23. 2. Those pitches weren't flukes. He was leaving pitches up in the strike zone, like a tired pitcher would normally do, the entire inning. Plus his velocity was down. There really is no denying that he was tired. Didn't Gagne say that he wasn't tired? I didn't see it or read the quote, but I've seen similar posts stating this. Can anyone confirm this?
  24. Because we're carrying a 14 man pitching staff. Should Gagne have been able to handle it? How does the 14 man pitching staff have anything to do with it? This is most likely a very temporary staff and until we know how it's going to boil down I wouldn't use that as my basis. Gagne gets paid to get saves...4 days straight isn't asking the world of him. He's injury prone yes, but we signed him to be the closer. I think it's completely ridiculous to throw everything Ned's way, but that's my opinion. Where's Weeks today? I bet Yost told him to stink it up with runners in scoring position. Where's Braun been? Fielder? It's a complete non-issue if everyone else does their job. Did Ned maybe make a mistake? Sure. I personally don't think it's that off the rocker that some are making it out to be. Remember we don't have an off day until a week from tomorrow. Now if Yost pitches Gagne tomorrow I'll be right with some of you. That would be not so smart. I think of it this way...Yost let Gagne face 3 batters. It's not like the Reds got 2 runs and he faced 5 or 6 guys. Yost I think did a good job of pulling the hook when he did and in the past he may have let him stay out there another batter.
  25. I just don't understand how Nedly can refuse to use Shouse because he's tired but has no clue that this logic applies to Gagne as well. It's contradictory and ridiculous. Actually it's not. Shouse and Gagne have to very different roles on the team and Shouse has been around a lot longer than Gagne. Gagne is 32 and Shouse turns 40 the end of September. I think the age by itself points out to why Shouse might be "tired" I didn't watch the game or see this anywhere so I don't know if it's a fact. Shouse could've even gone to Maddux or Yost and said I'm "tired" I can't pitch today. Is that really that ridiculous? If Gagne can't pitch 4 straight days unless he has crazy pitch counts, we'll need 2 closers this year. Back to back jacks and he walked a guy and that's Yost's fault? Again, I didn't see the game, but some have posted that the back to back jacks were pretty good pitches. What if Shouse came in and did the same? Some would be saying why aren't we using our $10 million closer! It just didn't work for the Brewers today and it's a long season...and Yost is going to get ripped every loss...it is what it is.
