I understand the conversion, but that doesn't change the fact that physically he's mature. He's having an awesome month after a horrid start to the season, but I'm personally not ready to anoint him as anything yet. I have no problem if you really like him, I'm just not convinced. How times have we seen a player have a hot month and fade away to nothing by the end of the year? Fatse was unstoppable to start the season last year and where's he now?

That's a pretty bold statement considering he's 25 and repeating A+.

Seid cited the all-star selections as proof the system wasn't depleted last night and I did a quick run down of who were actually deserving, and who was there on reputation in my head. I wasn't going to say anything over here because I feel like I've been too hateful this season, but Peralta is another player clearly playing in an all-star game on reputation alone, and many of players who earned all-star selections aren't true prospects. Look at AA... I really like Meadows, have since WI, but he's a reliever who get results but won't excite you... Wilson is a fringe prospect at best, and Komatsu profiles like a 4th OF in this organization, I'm not sure how they'll ever fit his bat in the line-up. At A+... I think Davis is legit, Bucci is growing on me again (the baby faced assasin is the best moniker ever), but Gennett wasn't deserving of an all-star appearance and said so himself. In WI Dennis shouldn't even be playing there for a 3rd season in a row, Walker and Ross are tough to get a read on because they are college players, and I'm sure pretty much everyone agrees that Thornburg is legit. From where I'm sitting I see 4, maybe 5 true prospects in those lists and that's stretching it much farther than I would have in recent years.

He's probably not all there... WOW.

I just noticed, Ax rarely has the same arm slot... sometimes he's over the top, sometimes he's 5-10 degrees off center, that's probably what his control issues are related to this season. When he comes over the top he locates his FB and CB pretty well.

Loe has been in a slump for some time now... I would prefer RR play the hot hand in the BP instead of this defined BP roll stuff.

Braun's OBP was .396 coming into the game and he's been on 2 of 3 times today. Prince's OBP was .412 coming into the game and he's been on 2 of 3 times. Nieves' OPS is .384. Yep I just saw that on baseball-reference... pretty sad, and people thought Moeller was horrible..

I'll have to look... i would think Braun's or Fielder's OBP would be higher than his OPS.

If they want to shorten playoffs it's simple... stop giving unnecessary off days and make the teams use their entire rosters like they do during the regular season. Replay and expanded playoffs has nothing to do with hockey at all... the viewpoint is asinine.

I wonder how well Miller Park would withstand a tornado like an F3 or F4? Was it designed to survive any natural disaster? Is that even taken into account in the Midwest? These are the questions that pop into my brain when reading about tornado warnings and Miller Park.

Players with limited athleticism like Brady Clark and Casey McGehee have a tougher time making physical adjustments, which is probably why they fade away quickly when they lose it. I don't think he's done, he'll start hitting again, but if he doesn't start putting some work into his body I don't believe he has much of a future, not that I ever believed he was as good as he appeared in 2009 or even 2010.

Prince isn't an average fielder, you made the claim "nearly average", which really isn't supportable with any metric other than UZR, and And That already laid out why your logic is faulty. If you want to use UZR definitive proof of anything you're being disingenuous at best, no single defensive or offensive metric is definitive proof of anything. Those scoops he fails to convert into outs, don't count against him, they count against the other IFs in UZR, but they should, because of those scoops are plays that any competent 1B makes. I'm not even going to get into the little things like footwork, never tossing the ball to the covering pitcher, saving the extra base on a bad throw, and the like which won't show up in metrics either. As for Yuni only being a slight downgrade from Escobar, that's not an accurate statement either. Escobar is young enough he was likely to improve and he has really hit his stride defensively this season, while Yuni is clearly terrible. He does an adequate job fielding the balls he can get to, and that's about all one can say positive about him. Through yesterday using UZR which you are so fond of Escobar is 6 runs positive and Yuni is over 4 runs negative on the year. How is that a slight downgrade? I stick by assertion that measuring fielding by any single metric is flawed and that one needs to take all data into account. I think in the case of 1B because so many things are unaccounted for by other metrics, that Plus/Minus is the best metric to use because each play at 1B is being individually watched and graded. Prince clearly makes every other IF worse because his scoop percentage is horrible, something that no metric is going to adequately account for. Simply put his defense is so bad he makes the entire IF worse which in turn hurts the pitching because the pitchers have to throw more pitches. He's better than he was, but that's not really saying much given how poor he was when he came up. He's also a much better athlete than people give him credit for, which makes his poor play all the more frustrating for me personally.

If you subtract nothing from nothing... Ha! Well according to Seid during the game tonight everyone is sorely mistaken and we are all undervaluing the quality in the farm system. If you include some impressive performances thus far out of the DSL he may be correct, but stateside the system stinks. And before anyone suggests a trade utilizing one of our newly drafted players, they aren't eligible to be traded until next summer at the earliest.
