  1. trades for "name" players are not the way the to go, they are simply too expensive.
  2. I had planned on updating it for you, but the boxscore wasn't available at 0900 CDT this morning, and by the time I got home for the game at 14:15 you had already snuck the update in.... Bottom line... you just need to be more lazy!
  3. When I mentioned 170 innings, I was thinking that was an average best case scenario for the 4 years, I should have made that more clear. I'm on board for a 1 year deal as already mentioned, 1 year doesn't bother me at all.
  4. yea, but I've been working on another project so I haven't been diligently refreshing I just let it sit while I made video. I refreshed now and I'm still getting the same. If I right click the word "image" for the missing pictures a Google cannot find picture error pops up for me. I'm using FF.. weird, I see your album just fine, thanks Brian.
  5. anyone else only see 3 pics? I have some weirdness going on because I'm unable to login to xbox live either.
  6. not really, we'll have a 3 man rotation all through the playoffs, so both unused SPs in Parra and Suppan can pick up the slack if need be.
  7. I have no love for Cub fans, or the Cubs, my disdain is well documented. However, I've had more issues with classless Brewer fans and Brewer fans with no game etiquette, than I have with Cub fans. Does having 15K Cub fans in the building kill the atmosphere in Miller Park? Absolutely, but having classless fans is hardly a market the Cubs have cornered. I still think it's awesome when the Badgers and Packers travel well and have more fans in the stands than the home team, so I try to keep it all in perspective. I go to many different college and pro sporting events in a year as I love Football, Basketball, and Hockey as well... I usually make a Packer game or 2, we're season ticket holders for Badger football, we make a couple of hockey and basketball games at the Kohl center, I catch some NHL at Wild games when I go visit my college buddies in the cities, and in spite of myself I'll get whined into a few NBA games when someone has tickets. By far the worst game etiquette I experience in a calendar year is at the Brewer games. This year we made it down to 6 games and I had my best experience at a Brewer game since I was a little kid, and we sat in the club section. Having sat all over the park, even in my buddies season tickets in row 9 right behind home plate, the club seats are the single best experience I've had, and I sat behind home plate for one of Sheet's best performances in 2004. You have room, a waiter/waitress, people aren't constantly getting out of their seats in the middle of the action, no horrible commentary on the game from other fans (friend or foe), and the bathrooms are right there. I loved it and next year I'd rather we spend the extra bucks and sit up there for every game. The only other experience that came close was the time my brother and I sat in the outdoor terrace of the 300 Club all game a couple of years ago.
  8. Boo... combining the threads cost me my post, I'll give it another go. How is this even remotely Ned's fault? Dale just pitched him on Saturday as well, and I'm sure he wouldn't do it again knowing how that turned out. This is on the training staff, and like the Yo topic from earlier this year, the training staff has all the power. The Brewers are paying their team physician and training staff quite a sum of money to make these calls, and make them 100% accurately. In my opinion this is squarely on the shoulders of the training staff and Ben himself. I grow weary of this revisionist history pitch count theory... any of those extra innings that Sheets or Sabathia pitched may have been the difference in getting to the playoffs. We simply don't know what the outcomes would have been, nor will we ever, and we can't have it both ways, it came down to Playoffs or not? I was firmly in the camp that 2008 didn't have to be the year, and I was in the minority. Ultimately the difference was a single win... yea the bullpen was okay, but they weren't leaned on all that heavily, and the guys in the pen were awfully inconsistent over the course of the season save Torres, who faltered in September. It's easy to say this 4 run lead would have held up or that 3 run lead would have held, but we simply don't know if that's true or not. Would any of us honestly go back and possibly change the outcome now? Would it have even made a difference? The only reason this was even discussed initially was because of lame PAP, which is the most backwards metric in all of sports as it penalizes players for being healthy and effective. Look at the list, all of the top pitchers in baseball are "abused"? Really? PAP is the poster child for the down side of sabermetrics... it's an arbitrary metric tossed around like it's "truth" when the only thing PAP really tells anyone is who the most effective SPs in baseball are and nothing more. From where I'm sitting this isn't good for either side, and I sincerely hope it works out for both parties. I wouldn't mind Ben back on a 1 year deal, but I don't want him back for 4. He hasn't been healthy in 4 years and I don't see any logic in the Brewers paying 16-18 million for 170 innings... no matter how good they are. Furthermore as this team has the chance to be a contender in the immediate future, Ben's first half greatness doesn't help the team in crunch time or the post season if he's unable to take the ball. I'm not saying wins in April don't matter, I'm saying the end goal is a championship, and there's no team in Baseball that can afford to go to the World Series without their best talent.
  9. Because we have a right to know before everyone else? We're just fans... It doesn't matter when they announce it, I'd just like the suspense to be over.
  10. Set the DVR for the next series and enjoy the ride. Living up north and having other commitments this time of year limits my emotional investment, which can be good and bad.
  11. I really like the FSL list of players... probably because I covet Porcello... I'd rather the Brewers start making some trades to acquire pitchers prior to them getting MLB experience, or very limited experience so they aren't so expensive. I think the commentary that the FSL seems to get the bulk of the good pitching prospects is spot on as well, at least since I've been following the minors.
  12. I'm thankful and cautiously optomistic, which is pretty much how I always am, I'm an optomist by nature.
  13. To me this thread about moments in time or players who played above my expectations. I would have to say McClung, Kapler, Branyan (very difficult choice for me personally), Torres, and Kendell. Sabathia deserves special mention because even though he was a CY Young winner, and I knew he was a stud, he outpitched my wildest fantasies. There were too many moments in the to even mention them all, especially with all the late inning heroics. I know I've been critical of MA because he's starting to meddle some, but I don't think season happens without him.
  14. The problem I've been pondering in my mind is that they just got Yo to where he could have pitched 200 innings this year... what does that mean for next year? Is he back to tossing 170 again? 150? Do they run him out there until he gets worn down like Parra this year? edit. I wasn't clear, I thinking about this in relation to the argument that Sheets was abused... First of all, I think PAP is crap, plain and simple... it's like throwing VORP at me and saying player A is better than player B because VORP says so. PAP is so arbitrary that I'm simply never going to get behind it... Furthermore, I really don't see any way any organziation can baby a pitcher coming from a down year, or 2, or 3. If he's your best pitcher, he's got to pitch. I don't think it's reasonable to build back up a pitcher in their prime 25 innings at a time like you would with a young arm. A pitcher in their prime should be pushed out to 110ish pitches every single outing if they are effective... otherwise the team is giving too many innings to the weakest part of the pitching staff, which is the BP.
  15. I wasn't thinking about Ned at all till the post game, Melvin's comments especially made me consider him. Also, his comments reinforced my opinion that firing was MA's call. I'm obviously pretty easy on baseball managers and coaches in general, I would have liked to see if Ned could have finished what he started.
  16. Well Sizemore hits well enough to play a corner spot, but that decreases his overall value to the team going from way above average to slightly above. I believe he's only under contract for 2 more years as well, so Brantley could be the CF of the future there I guess.
  17. How did I miss that Clerks reference? Geez. My favorite from Gears was "The Nuge", rumor had it they even contacted Ted to get his permission.
  18. I'm happy that all of my potential destinations for Sheets and Sabathia are in the bottom 16... it will be weird drafting this low, I didn't follow the drafts at all pre bf.net
  19. As I've said since day 1, CC has been/is/will be my favorite pitcher, I've been aquiring him first thing for every franchise I've ever used in every baseball game I've played over the last 4 years, he's an absolute stud. It's weird I suppose that I'm still not a fan of the Sabathia deal given that we're in the playoffs and I myself traded Sheets for him time after time after time. In a perfect world I'd resign him in a heart beat to fill that longterm void we'll have in the rotation after the playoffs. That being said, I will not give in for him just like I will not give in for Hardy... when comes to the Brewer franchise, I want them to be fiscally healthy and asset savvy, signing CC for 1/4 of the payroll would create a yearly fiscal albatross, we have many young position players that are going to need to be paid as well, next year and going forward. I still think that not signing Sabathia and trading Hardy/Fielder/whomever for a starting pitcher is the way to go. I appreciate what Sheets has done, but I'm even more against signing him... again if my choices are Sheets, Sabathia, or some other FA pitcher, I'm picking Sabathia and I'll deal with the consequences of trying to stay under budget every year. However, I'd much rather aquire a young pitcher on the rise or a Shields type this off season than sign a FA. edit. fixed grammar again.
  20. Jim, you're the man. That is all.

  23. Suppan has been so bad this month I just don't see him getting a start, the only game would be 4 if needed, but they were willing to throw Yo tomorrow (I'm sure I read that someplace) so I'd see him going on 3 days rest for game 4 as well.
  24. I DVR'd the 9th and the post game, I didn't have a good feeling about the game so I was flipping back and forth between the Brewers and Packers, just like yesterday with the Badgers. I have a coaches meeting tonight but I could get the clip on YouTube later tonight.
