  1. I know many here are skeptical of this concept, but I think Kendall calls a great game behind the plate. That last strike out where he snuck up and in at the last second... just excellent.
  2. I might have jinxed Braddock yesterday giving him BA 100 love... boo.
  3. Scoop! That's right it was him, and that was basically the story.... the good ole days. In addition to Scoop's elbow thread, how did bjames farewell thread not make the archives, he had something like 45 posts out of 70 or 80 in the thread, a perfect example of what not to do. edited my phrase since it was already used.
  4. I would think they'll have a deal in place, if they don't already, just waiting for the event to be over. I don't see any way the Brewers lose Lawrie.
  5. I hate to say it, but I think DiFelice will be the odd man out. I've never been a big Stetter fan, but he definately has some appeal as he's back again... 2nd lefty, all that stuff. Pena has all of his numbers back down in respectable territory after a shakey start, I wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot, in fact I'd rather see him than Gagne. Brian's joke got me good, I wasn't expecting that at all (though in hindsight it was so obvious) and now I have to dig pineapple out of my wireless keyboard.... lame. Ryan and Aguilar aren't far behind at AA, though both have had their ups and downs in the last month. I really like our in house bullpen options going forward, for the first time I remember the farm system has legit hitting, starting pitching, and relief pitching prospects. A winning team and a deep farm system, it's a good time to be a Brewer fan.
  6. Wasn't it Hoffy or an alterego that made the infamous Corey Hart Elbow post? That was so long ago now, Hart was in AA at the time, that Al and most every staffer were posting under different names.
  7. The full link report is back! Well it was yesterday but someone who shall remain nameless chopped it up into 2 portions...
  8. Coach welcome back! Your insights are greatly appreciated.
  9. you guys should add that title underneath his name.
  10. Since I've been around in 2k3 or 2k4, whenever it was, there's been multiple people banned with over 1000 posts.
  11. off the top of my head Inman would be 3 or 4 on my list, his struggles last year would have dented him some and LaPorta and Gamel are just studs. Garrison... mid to low teens probably? He's right there with Iribarren, Cain, and Gindl... I would think Brewer is going to start to nose dive since he's been unable to get any part of his game going this year.
  12. moles and trolls, moles and trolls..... name that movie Brewer fans! I don't see how the goat site is any better or worse than firenedyost.com? Pretty much the same thing...
  13. HS = Hot Sheet DD = Daily Dish I did see Callis' comments, but I believe the top 100 is a staff effort like the P50 here on Bf.net.
  14. LaPorta - top 15 Gamel - top 25 Escobar - 100+ Jeffress - top 50 Salome - 80-90 Braddock - 90-100 If Braddock continues to put up huge K totals, he'll have to be on the tail end of the list someplace in the 100ish neighborhood, he's a lefty who's very projectable. LaPorta got a ton of love before the season, and in season so he's moving up... Gamel is getting huge reviews all year so he should be top 25, maybe top 35. Escobar isn't all that projectable at the plate, so I see him on the outside looking in. Jeffress will be top 50 if he continues to excel, he has a rare arm, and if continues to mature, he'll climb that list in a similar fashion to Yo. Salome to me is the wildcard, BA doesn't like him at all for whatever reason, and no one I've emailed regarding the HS or DD has responded to my emails. If he keeps hitting he's a catcher that's sporting a 900+ OPS, I'm not sure they could continue to ignore his success, but my gut tells me they will.
  15. I didn't say that, but it my opinion assuming Sheets will stay healthy is a big risk, and if I were forced to put on money on it, I'd bet against him. Sheet's health, or lack there of, should definately factor into the discussion. If Sheets was down with injury and Yo was the healthy, I'd be much more inclined to make a move, I would have liked Yo's chances of staying healthy all year. My point is that this team is not 1 player away, they are more like 3 players away. If Hall and Weeks will start to play good baseball, Hardy will continue to raise his average and hit for power, then we're maybe a pitcher away. We're talking about 2, maybe 3 wins max out of pitcher, the impact while tangible is small, even for a starting pitcher. I'm not into trading a couple of wins for 6 or 7 years of either Gamel or LaPorta. I understand that many people around here just want to make the playoffs, but I want a sustained high level of success for many years, not just a short run before this current core hits the backend of arbitration. In other words, I'm not into mortgaging the future for a 2 year window that's already mostly passed us bye. Some of the young players didn't reach the level of play they needed to, and the system didn't develope enough pitching. However, there is plenty of help on the way in AA and A+ so I'm willing to be patient and accept winning baseball for the time being because I think the truly special teams of this current Brewer era are 2-3 years away. I thought the current core would hit enough to get into the playoffs without a real good rotation, and they still might, but looking ahead I see the potential for some truly dominant teams.
  16. I'm curious why is LaPorta untouchable, a RH power hitter, but Gamel, a LH power hitter is tradable? Long term roster management this would make no sense, Gamel is the only LH power in the entire system... Unless you're pulling some major package to get both Sabathia and Sizemore, the Brewers need more LH bats... I'm not picking on SoCal, this notion of trading Gamel is repeatedly dropped into threads, but I don't see how the Crew can deal the only LH power bat in the system, and I don't even want to think what it would take for both Sizemore and Sabathia. I like Sizemore quite a bit, but to me he's a LH Corey Hart, and while both will hit 20-30 HR per year, I wouldn't qualify either as a power hitter, more a power threat. I'd definately take both if I could have them in a vaccuum, in fact on OOTP 8 I've traded Sheets/Hall for Sabathia/Sizemore every time I've started a new game, but that's a video game... I've pointed this out before, but I'll post it again, what makes people so sure that Sheets will be healthy? Any pitcher we pickup essentially replaces Yo for this year, if Sheets goes down later this season, we're essentially exactly where we are now, only now we're down prospects for nothing tangible in the W/L column. Yes you can trade for a rental and get draft picks but all that scenario does is continually push your best prospects farther away from MLB, assuming of course that you can hit on the prospect again, which is far from a "given". I'm not sold on the notion that 1 player puts this team over the top, so I'm more inclined to ride out this season and see what could be done in the off season. A Fielder trade, while it would hurt, still makes more sense to me value wise, and could go a long ways towards plugging the few holes that are left. In my opinion Prince isn't someone the Brewers can build around, he's too risky long term... Boras, weight, defensive issues... There's no doubt he's a premium offensive player, but that doesn't mean the Brewers should try to build the franchise around him, I'd rather they build around Braun and Hart, but I'll guess we'll just have to see how this all plays out.
  17. Russ will probably chime in with them at some point, most likely with a nifty chart to boot.
  18. I'm pretty new to OOTP, I've only simmed through 5 different seasons now in 3 different games. I just downloaded and installed 9, I just started a new game with Milwaukee of course and the only thing that really stands out is the minor league system, it will probably take me all night tomorrow to get the player ratings and teams correct to start with. That's been my biggest headache thus far with the game, trying to get the prospects correct.
  19. He wasn't all that spectacular last year either, I had actually forgotten about him until that post.
  20. If I wasn't so excited about some of the young pitching in WV, I'm not sure I'd ever check a box score... they are playing much better ball over the last month and they still have position players that intrigue me (Haydel, Gindl, Wheeler) but for some reason I'm pretty much feeling the same way about them as I do Nashville, I'm indifferent. Helena baseball has been a yearly tradition for me, I'm always very interested in our latest draftees, but that being said they've been a tough listen so far this year. (I missed tonight's game due to a parents meeting) Most people know I'll usually side with the coaches (managers), as things just aren't as black and white as many arm chair managers think they are. However, as others have noted, I'm uneasy with this slow start. It's probably just because the H Crew usually flies out of the gate and playes very well, but this crop hasn't hit the ground running, and it's taken me back some. It's still early, so there's time for the team to come together and make a good run, but Helena hasn't been known for playing sloppy ball as the more polished products usually end up there so I can definately understand where MTBrew's frustrations are coming from. edit. only 1 more day till the "full" link report is back!
  21. While this is bad news in the short term, it wasn't all together unexpected, and scar tissue doesn't overly concern me at this time. If he can pitch by the AFL I'll be estatic.
  22. Hammond hurts his own cause in the first... darn. Stars down 2-0 after 1.
  23. 8/3... ugh... At least he'd be playing against good competition I guess.
  24. I knew what you meant, I'm not a moderator, and I stand by my comments though I could have been more clear in retrospect. I was referring to the general shots you took at the site and what other people had posted, which is why I listed the number of posts in a short window, I didn't see an objective discussion, more a force feeding of an opinion.
