  1. Nicely done Pogo.
  2. He's not horrid, though it's pretty clear he doesn't have any better outfield instincts than he did at 3B. He gets caught when he's trying to be too aggressive, and then lets balls drop in front of him when he's trying to play it safe. He never quite seems to get it right, maybe it will come in time. He's giving his all though, he's shown pretty good effort diving for balls and whatnot.
  3. Is this a video game thing? There was picture of Laporta's someplace, a comparison between him and Braun. Wvpowerblkwel would know, it was his picture. edit... found the picture Link
  4. I know he's had success, but I have a hard time getting on board with Narron, same as I do Dillard. We'll see I guess.
  5. Well Braddock has all of 5 appearances on the season, and none longer than 3 innings. If he gives up 1 run his ERA is going to look crappy.
  6. That fixed it for me Casey, I still use IE.
  7. He started 2 in WV and 1 in BC, I'm not sure what's going on, unless the pen was worn down. I usually only check the starters and the position players in the box score, I honestly rarely pay attention to the relievers, that's Mass' job for me... hehe. Jones pitched his usual 3 innings? The game log didn't say did he get hurt or just the 2 runs?
  8. You were clearly talking about the trade... Furthermore, why is it that if someone doesn't agree with trading for prospects they get the label..."fans overvaluing their teams prospects"... it's getting old, it was old last year when it was worn out discussing the Linebrink trade. The Brewers cannot continually trade away all the top prospect talent, because sooner rather than later there's a void at the MLB level, and then we're back to people complaining about losing. Since I've been at BF.net I've seen trades suggested for every single prospect that's currently contributing with the big club (Hart, Weeks, Fielder, Braun, Hardy, Yo). For the Brewers to have a long run of success those players wll have to be replaced when they walk. Yes you can always aquire more draft picks, but all that does is move the talent farther away from the Brewers. In my opinion the Brewers will never be in "win now"mode, they must keep an eye on the future at all times as they cannot replace losses through free agency until the economics of baseball change. The Brewers will need 1 of those 2 hitters and 1 of Salome or Lucroy within the next 2 years. I'd rather Hart move to CF and Gamel or Laporta move to Left, Braun to Right. Also, 3B could be upgraded, 2B as it stands could be upgraded, the Brewers are not without their holes. Again the Brewers will need a yearly influx of cheap talent so they can afford to hang onto to the key core of players they already have. Mark A has deep pockets, but I highly doubt he'll let the team operate so it's losing money.
  9. It's unfortunate that Yost gets so much of the blame, when it's true that coaches matter less in baseball than any other sport.
  10. Nice... disregarding the previous post, while being condescending at the same time. Well done.
  11. Sweet that the site is backup, I was in the middle of posting this last night when I got cut off... I'm a little surprised that's he's moving along to A+, he joined WV right about this time last year didn't he? He also lost 1 or 2 starts at the end of the season so he didn't get a full season of ball. I would have though they'd do with him what they did with Braddock and bump him quickly if he's successfull. At any rate here's hoping the young man has success and makes me a believer again.
  12. Last year he showed the pitcher up quite a few times standing the box and admiring his shot, he earned his reputation. This year I've noticed he puts his head down quickish and trots around the bases, much more classy. There were a couple of threads last year on this topic throughout the season.
  13. Wise was a decent pitcher, I had no issues with him when he was on the mound... I didn't like that he couldn't pitch back to back days, I really thought that limited and stretched the bullpen unneccessarily. As I always said he was perfect for the post season, but weighed the pen down during the regular season. Good luck to him and CV, even though CV drove me nuts, he's got decent enough stuff.
  14. I didn't realize it was an arsonist... Clowns like this make me... well I'm not allowed to expand on that subject, but it's great to see the support they are getting from the other teams in the league.
  15. Maybe, Gillespie trying to make me eat my words. I'd feel better if the young guys in A and A+ would pitch better, but Bryson had one of his better outings, I wish I would have been listening, the game log for his 2 runs is curious with a WP and infield hit.
  16. I'm a jack of all trades computer tech for a very large corporation full time. I also coach football in the fall, sometimes I'm paid, sometimes I volunteer, depending on how many teachers want to coach.
  17. It was a bad trade because it was for 25 reliefs innings of a rental player, it wouldn't have mattered to me who the pitcher was. Making the playoffs would have lessened my distaste for the deal. This was a bad trade for Milwaukee, not San Diego... it was a great move for San Diego in the short term with how well Thatcher pitched, and long term they have Inman that will likely see MLB time at some point. Linebrink didn't make Milwaukee better in the short term, so we can only hope the 2 draft picks make this trade worthwhile long term. Who won this deal long term will hinge entirely on the 2 draft picks.
  18. It has nothing to do with mind reading... he DH'd on his days off from playing C in the lower levels (R+ - A+) to keep his bat in the lineup.. I took X's comments that way because he's a sharp guy who follows the minor leagues closely and would know that Salome has played the majorify of his games at C. People don't stick around here very long if they post uneducated opinions...
  19. Yes. Villy and Parra will figure it out, the rotation will stabilize, the hitting only has one way to go. I am an optimist. It does not seem too much use being anything else. - Winston Churchill If there's no hope we're just wasting our time, that's just not my way.
  20. was "smells like cabbage" a bad joke?
  21. If disagreeing with Yost is a major qualification to be considered his replacement, then 70% of BF.net is qualified to manage the Brewers, a couple posters might even apply...
  22. X is saying that his lack of defensive prowess makes him a DH... he doesn't have a defensive position... sort of like what people said about Fielder. I don't necessarily agree that he's that bad, and he should be feeling a sense of urgency to work the heck out of that part of his game as at least in my opinion, it's the only thing holding him back. I don't know much, but I know Salome can hit and to me that's the biggest tool.. edit. I also think he's proving my point about being the 3rd best hitter on that team, maybe they are keeping him there so he works on taking more pitches. He's not Mench or Estrada but he doesn't BB much, he's a contact guy, but I can live with an OBP in the mid .300s.. I don't want to beat a dead horse on the batting 8th thing though, I'm just glad he's hitting.
  23. I'd rather trade Laporta, he can play servicable defense in the corner outfield spots or first base, so we'd be giving up RH power that's MLB ready + whatever for Lincecum. I like that deal much better than Gamel... Nelson, while he's proving he has value, will not hit like Gamel, and while I really like Gindl, he's in WV and just starting to break out, and I wouldn't label him a power prospect as of yet. Hitting at AA and above makes me a believer, below that I'm just intrigued. Now if it were a 1 for 1 type swap... that I would seriously consider, even for Gamel, but San Fran would be crazy to trade one of the top young MLB pitchers for 1 AA prospect.
  24. Why would the Brewers trade the only left handed power in the organization outside of Fielder? Yes I know Branyan is at AAA and no he doesn't count long term.
