  1. Well secondary numbers were better, but the results on the scoreboard weren't necessarily better. He's one of my guys but it's never good to give up that many runs in those few innings... I'm greedy, I want Yo like dominance out of both Braddock and Periard, but I'll take steady improvements as they move up.
  2. Longterm the Brewers cannot afford Prince Fielder, which makes Laporta the first baseman, which makes Gamel the RF if his defense doesn't improve. There's no reason to be so overwhelming negative about a kid in AA... If the bat is that good, they'll find you a position. Hall is not a great hitter, Gamel very well might be, if Gamel sticks at 3rd then I'm sorry but Hall will be the one to go. Why would you trade the player with more potential? I don't think Gamel will stick at 3rd, but I could definately see him playing the corner outfield spots and 1B when guys get days off until his time comes. I haven't written off his defense yet, he's still got plenty of time, but my gut tells me that both Laporta and Gamel will be able to hit major league pitching and the bats will play before the gloves. This is the way things work, prospects thrive in one area, and have defiencies in another. Hart, Fielder, Weeks had defensive concerns, Hardy had offensive concerns... Escobar has offensive concerns, Iribarren doesn't have a home defensively, Gamel, Laporta, and Salome have defensive concerns and so on. Every single player has a hole in their game... when they don't you get a Bonds/Griffey or similar player in their prime, and they just don't come along that often. A true 5 tool player that excels in every aspect of the game... that's hall of fame type stuff, and if that's expectation, the expectation needs to be changed, because it's not realistic.
  3. I fail to see the distinction between a Handicapped parking spot and a VA spot, both spots are reserved. Parking in a VA spot, used or not, is poor form in my opinion.
  4. I hate when Salome gets a day off... The hype on him around here has certainly quieted down since the suspension, but he's still a heck of player, and only 2 years away if he bumps a level at a time. If he cleans up his defense it could be even sooner, it's not like Rivera is blocking Salome or Palmisano from making the big league roster next year.
  5. It's rare that I like an established starting pitcher in the bullpen. I don't mind it for rookies, it's an easy way to get their feet wet. However this is one of those rare circumstances I would have rather Bush was going to the pen. Even though Bush didn't pitch well out of the pen last year, I would have liked to see him go out there and be effective. I dont have the venom for him being sent down to AAA as some other's do, but I'm curious why it was him. I really like Parra, but it wouldn't be a bad thing for him to get sent down and recenter himself... The Vargas move didn't bother me because I honestly couldn't stand to watch a game he pitched, but I've always liked the way Bush carried himself, but long term there are better options in the starting rotation than Dave. I reserve the right to get worked up if Dillon isn't recalled and pitcher optioned optioned from the bullpen in the near future. Dillon is a much better hitter than either Gabe or Tony....
  6. This no audio thing for BC is going to have me pretty irritated by the end of the season, unless Periard gets bumped up and I can listen to the games at Huntsville. edit. It just occurred to me that Braddock will likely end up there anyway... Is it alright to Boo when you can't follow your favorite prospects live? edit2. don't I feel stupid, finally read the transaction thread and see that Braddock was already promoted.
  7. It's tough to do an analysis on a guy who's currently serving a suspension though.
  8. What's going on with all these poorly hit balls ending up as hits today?
  9. I've been a non fan, rather indifferent actually for a long time, of Hall's... but damn if that wasn't a great way to enter the game.
  10. Boy he likes to call that low and away pitch a strike, it's getting old this inning.
  11. Now with the runner on 3rd I'm going to be a fatalist.... I'm calling a WP, that's the way this game has gone for the crew.
  12. I'm not sure I get the closer in the 9th rule when you're playing at home. Why is the top of the 9th more important than say, the top of the 10th? It's almost like it's a rule to make sure you get the closer into the game, which I don't think is really necessary.
  13. An NBA player is using pot? In other news water is still wet... this is really a non story.
  14. Is there a pop up stat out there some place? I'd be curious where the Brewers rank as a team.
  15. Yo with 7 scoreless without his best stuff. i really like that kid.
  16. Yo hasn't located all that well so far tonight, he's missing with the curve up mostly, but he's also spiked a couple, and his fastball is running up and away on him at times. edit. Lame thunderstorm over green bay, I just like my signal. I take it Yo got out of the inning.
  17. Brantley doesn't get much love because he walks too much and doesn't have much power, but I see him as a great lead off option, and always have. I still think his position will end up being in CF where his lack of power will not impact the team. If I could choose between Brantely, Iribarren, or Gwynn as the CF of the future, I take Brantley hands down with Iribarren on the bench. People keeping posting about Gwynn's upside, but I think he is what he is at this point.
  18. What about every other post type posters, which I think is more what TLB is referring to? There are people doing that on a consistent basis on both BF.net and LL.net. It's never a good thing to have 20 posts in a single thread.
  19. Snipes to serve 3 years for Tax Evasion I had no idea this was going on, I was a huge fan of the Blade series, and I've gernerally liked him in most ever movie. In fact, he's in 2 of my favorite sports movies in White Men Can't Jump and Major League. Too bad.
  20. It seems to me that Brad starts hot most every year... He had decent power numbers last year, but still didn't have .800 OPS for the season. His secondary numbers were alright as well, but other than the 20 HRs he hit, there's nothing eye popping there. I had high hopes for him 3-4 years ago, but I honestly gave up on him about the same time Krynzel was traded. Those 2 really let me down as they were 2 of the first 3 players I really rooted for. I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a major leageu player, but he's someone I quit following.
  21. Does Bill Hall get too much man love around here? Absolutely, he's a board favorite and always has been. However, all these "waaaaa" threads are the same, the only difference is if you like person people are complaining about, then you argue for your guy. Why is every time a reliever screws up we were Yosted? Or someone strikes out we were Jenkins'd or Halled? Made an error? We were Weeks'd... Blah, blah ,blah, blah... it's all the same illogical banter about nothing. No major league team outside of the chosen few big spenders will ever have a star and every position, and even Yankees and Bo Sox have holes in their teams. Melvin said it best, you try to get as many above average players on your team as possible. I would love to go your softball games and tear you guys apart for everything little you do, that would be fun. It's all so easy when you're sitting in your chair posting on the internet... The sky isn't falling, and even if it is, what impact on it do you have?
  22. I was browsing around MiLB.com because I'm sure I'm a Villy jinx and I hope by not watching he'll pitch well. At any rate, I just noticed Pena's numbers on the season.. I had assumed he was raking as he did all spring, but umm... he's not. Is he hurting? What's the story? I haven't listened to a single Sounds game all season.
  23. I've been quietly rooting for Caleb to have a game all season, he became an instant favorite of mine listening to the Helena broadcasts last year. I know he's not toolsy, but the kid can play, or at least that's the way it sounds listening to games on the radio. I wonder if there will ever be video from minor league games, even from a single camera...
  24. Saying it's not Weeks' fault for a weakly hit grounder is like saying it's not Sheets' fault for being frail... I've never been a believer in luck, at some point there should be a realization that we all have ownership of the situation we find ourselves in... It's one thing to hit a ball hard right at someone, it's another to meakly groundout, which is what Prince just did at the worst possible time. That DP was a killer.
  25. In year's past I've followed the AAA club almost exclusively until Helena starts playing (listening wise), this year I just haven't been interested in catching any AAA games at all, and thus I miss the home fest...
