  1. Maybe we should trade Santos, or just release him, or send him to AAA. Shame on you that doubted Victor!! You know who you are. I guess he is doing ok on his 7 start audition, or 10, whatever it was. Great to see Damian in the 2 hole.
  2. What role does Wynegar play in pre-game preparation of the hitters. All teams have advanced scouts, but how much does Wynegar get involved? The reason I ask this is we really seem lost at the plate. We seem surprised by so many pitches an do not appear to have a plan. Are we looking for the curve from Oswalt? If so, how come we never hit one. Are we sitting fastball? Then why don't we hit those? We seem to be guessing, and guessing wrong, all the time! Just curious if anyone knows how we go about prepping our hitters for the games. And one last thing, would they listen?
  3. Moeller is a complete idiot. He calls for two straight high fastballs when even Schroeder knows Ben has trouble throwing that pitch. How about you bust him low and inside or even a changeup...but low so we can get a groundball or a k. Then Yost keeps him in when he is hacking up loogies and throwing knuckleballs to first.
  4. That's right, nothing to do with Weeks. Unless you are the Yankees, pennants are won with pitching staffs, not 2B with high OBP. So what do you expect from Weeks? 30HR? 50 SB? Weeks will hit around .280, hit 15 HR, and maybe steal 20 if he someday learns how to do it. Sounds a lot like a really good year for Junior Spivey. I'm gonna stand with my OPINION, and that is that Weeks will be nothing special, and that if the Brewers are ever going to make the playoffs it will be Eveland, Rogers, Gallardo, and Parra that make it happen.
  5. Ok...the Robidoux thing was a bit strong. I do believe that too much is made of Weeks. The future of the Brewers has everything to do with Eveland, Parra, Rogers, and Gallardo and nothing to do with Weeks.
  6. Weeks is the most overrated Brewer prospect since Billy Jo Robidoux. The guy continues to get press for doing nothing.
  7. Cappy was up in the zone all night. Not the umps fault. I didn't even think they were that close.
  8. Wynegar has to go. When Hall has the best approach at the plate you know the players aren't listening. Hardy has made no adjustments and continues to hit the weakest GBalls I have ever seen. Swing hard for cripes sake.
  9. Suppan beats the Brewers because he knows they will get anxious and swing at his pitch. Spivey is perfect example, but even Overbay swung at a 3-1 sinker going away. Too anxious. The guy has average stuff and he is shutting us out. Lineup 6-9 is pretty lame though. Hardy isn't much better than a pitcher at this point. Moeller- ugh.
  10. Could Housman be a Davis type and help us out this year at #5 if needed?
  11. Clancy, I wanted him to hit and then replace him. He is a decent hitter and that saves the bench for 9th inning or later. I wanted Magruder for a LHP later on...no big deal.
  12. I disagree...should have let ob hit.
  13. If it is only about execution and not about decisions make by managers, why do managers get fired?
  14. This could be the second loss to hang on Ned. Stop stealing and bunting at the top of the order. We must stop making outs on the bases. I'm very confused about the bullpen roles. Does Ob have one? Not that it mattered but we should have saved Branyan for 9th inning...knowing that bringing him on prior to that would also bring on a LHP. Not going to pull Mesa. Lee is trying too hard...take some pitches big fella. I predict Lee and Hardy will have a massive collision before the year is out...and Hardy will come out on the short end.
  15. Man I wasn't going crazy on the Overbay thing but he hasn't had any success against Redman and I thought it might be possible to get Helms a start at first. Helms only has 3 AB against Redman with one hit and no k's. I understand Overbay will most likely(99%) be in the lineup...I was just pointing out that I would sit him out before Branyan. I like Branyan against a soft-tossing lefty. Relax.
  16. Looking at Redman he is pretty much the same pitcher against RHB and LHB....so it really doesn't matter much from his perspective. I still believe Branyan is the way to go at 3b, but I would give Overbay the day off. Overbay is 0-3 lifetime against Redman with 2 k's. Jenkins is 2 for 11 lifetime with 5 k's..so it might make sense not to play him.
  17. Hey maybe we will put Helms at 1B as well and give Overbay, Branyan and Jenkins the day off!!! Nah.. I actually look for Branyan to play today. Redman lives on off-speed stuff and Branyan hits that pretty good. So I say go with Branyan and sit Jenkins...but that won't happen.
  18. Not sure I let my pitcher hit at that point....good for us though
  19. I too am hoping we target hitting in the upcoming draft. We could eventually use those prospects to acquire the big-league pitching we need.
  20. Loopee, The situational hitting that Jenks needs help with is when the pitcher has the ball and he has a bat. I really don't get too excited about the lack of hitting with RISP, but I do get excited about getting caught stealing with the pitchers struggling. I'm tired of giving up outs with our top hitters coming up. Overbay had 53 doubles last year and the guys on base could score on half of them...but we steal. I wish Yost would step aside and let the players play. Also, last year Yost preached about how overrated having a LH reliever was, and this year he puts Phelps in, because, presumably, they had two LH batters coming up. Make up your mind Yost and then put in the guy that can get outs. Where the hell was Ob in the 6th today?
  21. Is the cupboard now bare after the AAA boys that we have been touting for so long, or is this an aberration? I can't believe the total ineptitude of our minor league teams. Are we pushing too fast? I'm not panicking on Rogers, but I had lobbied on this board very hard for Homer Baily or Chris Nelson, and I believe that is a mistake we will come to regret.
  22. I know it's early but we have really let Wood off the hook. He is all over the place and we run/swing our way out of innings. Jenkins still hasn't swung at a strike. 1 run and Wood is struggling. Need to get to the pen by the 6th.
  23. The only guy that missed the sign was Yost. Wood's pitch count is going up, he can't throw a strike, we have a pitcher batting, a C on second....let's hit and run? I can't believe it.
  24. Wes hit one to deep second...just short of the track. I bet he is feeling a bit down right now. I still think he will get a significant number of at bats this year....just not sure what team it will be with. I think he will be gone soon for a relief pitcher just off Tommy John surgery.
