  1. I'm surprised this thread still has legs. The crew is in 3rd place, .500. Do you think Halladay would actually come here? Think Washburn or Bannister folks. This ain't happenin.
  2. I can't believe people are really worried that Melvin would trade Escobar for anyone in a Mariner outfit. He is going nowhere. I think it will be Hardy, Green, and a pitcher for Washburn, Morrow, and Balentien.
  3. Macha is absolutely the dullest post game interview I have ever seen. I wonder if he is always like that, or just tries to remain cool, calm, and in control so he doesn't appear to be losing his mind. He hinted that Hart needs to hustle a bit more and always appeared upset at Hardy for a rather aloof play towards the end of the game.
  4. I think a deal with Seattle is certainly the most likely scenario at this point. I would look for Hardy, Green, and another prospect heading to Seattle for Washburn and a couple more arms. I agree Hardy will not do well in Safeco, but I think Jack Z. will roll the dice on it.
  5. I don't know if we should make a play for Halladay or not, but I do believe we should trade Gamel. I don't see him being anything special at all, and we need to infuse some pitching into the organization. I think the show is going to be too big for Gamel and I don't think he has the mental makeup to be a star, something you hope a top prospect might become. Just my take on the guy, hope I don't offend anyone.
  6. That is a terrible trade for the Cardinals unless they can re-sign Holliday. Wallace is an outstanding prospect.
  7. Z, While I am not arguing with you on Melvin, I will respectfully disagree once again that Cruz would be our 4th outfielder. I don't look at seasons by months, as you do. The OPS difference is dramatic for the season and over the past year and a half it isn't even close. Just stating that he would be the 4th outfielder doesn't make it fact. While Cruz is improving his numbers Harts are declining.
  8. zzmanwitz, Seriously, Cruz would still be our 4th outfielder? Corey Hart is barely breathing these days, and Cruz was an all-star.
  9. Wow Nate, didn't know you were privy to the workings of the GM in Pittsburgh. Where do you get your information that he has been offered but there are no takers? Link?
  10. I liked Gillespie OBP numbers as well, but they were always tempered by average power, high SO rates, and the fact that he certainly wasn't one of the younger players in the leagues he was playing. Certainly nothing more than a spot starter if he was projected at LF only. Katin will never see a Brewer uniform, IMHO.
  11. Just because there are problems doesn't mean he is going to give him away to a division rival. That would be stupid. Cody? Dillard? C'mon guys get serious if you want a starter you have to give something up.
  12. Jack Z. is not going to start trading away prospects. He is looking to acquire them. The trade of Adam Jones is why Jack Z. got hired. He has been put in Seattle to build it from the ground up. Hardy and Hart don't really help. It's a bad deal, no offense.
  13. I think Al pointed out that Lopez benefited from playing half his games in Arizona. I apologize if this has already been posted but Lopez' career batting average at Miller Park is his highest of any Park in the majors. That should be worth something as the guy obviously likes hitting here. Unless of course he just like the pitchers, in which case, nevermind. I think some are really going overboard on this. The crew has legitimate concerns about MGees knees. Counsell is not spring chicken and could use a break here and there. Having Counsell and Lopez at the top gives Braun and Fielder more chances. Gamel is a little lost at this point so he goes where he needs to go. We gave up a nice 4th outfielder type and a Single A guy, not earth shattering here folks. Cardinals picked him up last year and he played very well for them.
  14. So, after being a reliever for a year plus, how many innings exactly do we expect to use Dillard before his arm falls off. Tonights game is a sign they need to back off, IMHO. Cody Adams was not a good pick.
  15. What about Luke Scott instead? Can he play OF? Could we convince Jack Z. to take on Hart? Not sure what Seattle has in the OF.
  16. The fact of the matter is JP said he would listen to offers. He did not say he was going to trade him. Why not ask a king's ransom, and if you get it fine, otherwise you simply keep one of the best pitchers as you have little pressure to move him. Maybe he is just gauging the value and wasn't even serious about dealing him.
  17. As much as I like Jack Z., I think we might be able to make a pretty good deal with him as he may overvalue guys from the Brewers system. He may have a hard time separating their actual ability against the fact that he drafted them. Looking at the M's lineup it is amazing they are in the hunt. I still think they will sell soon.
  18. Just pressing after making the comments. Lost his plate discipline again tonight. He's the least of our worries.
  19. Not that it matters due to the failures of many, but how can anyone defend the play Hall made? Even if he makes the play at first another run has scored. There is no way you pick that ball up. When is the last time Jody Gerut did not hit a grounder to 2B? Why does Braun suddenly lose all patience when he wants to be the hero? I suppose this belongs in the vent, but very frustrated. As far as Melvin, trading for Halladay is still the best move he can make, if not for this year, next.
  20. I can't get passed the title of the thread. It is for that reason I refuse to read your response to the article by Hunt. If you want to be taken seriously you need to show some maturity.
  21. My goodness Clancy if Melvin offered that to Toronto he would be a laughed at. It doesn't make you look very good either.
  22. But why would Seattle trade him when they are still in the playoff hunt and playing good ball? Why would we want him when he is currently on pitch counts due to a shoulder injury? Why does he make more sense than Halladay when Halladay is a better pitcher signed through 2010?
  23. Hardy is batting .229 with an OBP under .300. Why on earth would the sox give up a top pitching prospect for that?
  24. If we get Halladay that makes us contenders this year AND next. After next year Halladay, Hall, and Suppan all come off the books. Escobar can be traded and I don't really care how much Melvin gives up to get H. I will trade prospects for two years of contention any time. If we had major league ready pitching available I would not feel this way, but we will have no infusion of talent into our rotation next year either.
