  1. Has Yost seen Harden's changeup? Rickie Weeks has many holes but he is completely clueless on a change, and Harden has one of the best in the game. I'm guessing a career high in K's for Harden, but maybe we can keep it close because he will be gone after 5 or 6.
  2. Rivera is in the lineup, and it's about time. I like Kendall but I think a day of rest would be nice.
  3. I think they are both very good at their jobs, and I'm pretty sure BA did not cost CC a no-hitter. Not that it makes a difference to me, but did he actually use the words no-hitter? My recall(shaky) is that he said that he said he has only allowed a walk to the leadoff hitter, and nothing else. I don't recall the words no hitter or even "he has not allowed a hit". Either way, this is really silly and I suppose since we can't complain much about the team now we have to complain about the announcers breaking up no hitters and hitters watching their home runs(which by the way does bother me). Go Crew.
  4. Ditto Brian's post. I cringed when I read that line. I'm just happy dad doesn't use my old Weeks comment as his signature. Hmm, what was that about anyhow, dad?
  5. I am not a Weeks fan but he is the starter and should be the starter. Durham is headed for Kapleresque type playing with PH duties. I don't believe this was ever about the production, or lack thereof, of Weeks. By the way, how does Marcel and other stat projections account for a change of scenery...to a new park that Durham absolutely loves to hit in. I looked it up, and the stats don't lie. Other than the bubble in Minny, Miller is his best park.
  6. I don't think Mota will be released...I have a feeling Prince has been twisting on his arm for a while and he should be sore enough for the DL by Tuesday.
  7. Nothing original here, but I think it will be Street in the end....for Gillespie, Braddock, and Pena.
  8. I agree with TooLive, Marmol was so valuable as setup as Piniella used him at any time to put out a fire. Put him in the closer role where most games are decided already....hopefully we can get a lead off other relievers.
  9. It doesn't hurt that Durham just finished up a 10 for 24 series at Wrigley, and has hit .371 in the last 3 years at Miller. Also hitting close to .400 at Busch II, in limited AB's. I think if we get Durham he and Weeks will basically split time. Weeks will play against LHP and favorable RHP as well. At least that would be my hope. Who goes if this deal is completed? Dillon? I kinda like the guy.
  10. Salome is obviously not part of this, but Nelson makes a ton of sense. He could play 1B for the Giants on Monday. Still seems like everyone is grasping at straws, but of course being who we are... makes this great fun. Is JT really an upgrade from Stetter?
  11. I agree with Mass, we need to draft players not projects. I have never seen the guy play, but I have to believe it isn't so much about plate discipline as it is pitch recognition. Some guys just weren't born with Tony Gwynn's eyes. Brewer looks to be one of them. I'm not that discouraged simply because you are not going to hit on every draft pick. Not an exact science for sure. I happen to think the selection of Dykstra will be this year's Brewer.
  12. bullox, I suggested that if they are going to move Gamel it would be because we need an outfielder. Hart would move to center and Gamel to RF. How do I contradict myself? I never wrote Gamel was going to be in CF. A previous post suggested that Gamel could be moved to the OF if Hart could handle CF. I stated that I don't believe the club is contemplating whether or not Hart can play CF. They would be contemplating whether or not Gamel could play RF. Sorry if that was not clear.
  13. I'm very curious where Angel Salome is going to play if not catcher. He is 5'7" short. Where is he moving to???
  14. Um, the Orioles have this guy named Wieters that seems like he could be ok at C, so they would have little to no interest in Salome. You would have to deal Escobar or Gamel to get Roberts, as I don't believe Baltimore is really that motivated to trade him.
  15. I think you guys are way off on Schroeder and Anderson. I think they do a nice job and do not over call a game like Sutton. He acts like he is the show. I'm sure you all could do so much better though.
  16. I'm pretty positive that a move of Gamel has nothing to do with Hart being able to handle CF. Why couldn't he handle CF? A move of Gamel will result from one of 3 things....A negative evaluation at the end of the season by Don Money....Prince Fielder being traded.....Team needs an OF for next year and thinks he is athletic enough to do it.
  17. Vitters is nothing special and wouldn't help get CC. I think Stark is correct that Melvin wants this deal done now or some of it will be off the table. When you are renting, 5 extra starts before the trade deadline is huge. I am half hoping this all falls apart, as I was looking forward to LaPorta in Milwaukee next year.
  18. Let's not be blinded by the last two weeks of Hardy. He is average in every way, except speed, which is below average. I like him, but not enough to trade Escobar or sign him long term. LaPorta and Green should be more than enough for a guy we will have for two to three months. LaPorta will be in Cleveland next year and Green in two years. I believe that if we don't get CC by Monday Melvin will turn to a lesser starter, AKA, Maddux or Wolf. We could get two starts from CC before the break, and he could pitch the first game off the break. If we don't get him until the deadline, that will mean five starts we lost out on. Now or never would be my pitch to Cleveland; in a nicer sorta way.
  19. If we get him, he better be able to pitch through 8 innings, as our real need is someone who can pitch the 8th. I don't see anyone on the tribe that can really help us in this area, so hopefully Melvin will be doing two deals instead of just this one. I think the deal for CC will be done by the end of the day Saturday, and I have no problems giving up LaPorta. He is an asset that can help us get to the playoffs now. There will be more drafts and more prospects and more LaPorta's. Getting CC now will give him 2 starts before the all-star break and could really energize this team for the homestand.
  20. Mota gave up two balls that didn't make it out of the infield and a walk, not exactly a blowup. That said, I do believe we need two arms, one starter and one in the pen, if we are serious about this thing.
  21. Mota threw two groundballs and walked a guy, hardly deserves the blame. I do believe we need more help in the pen, but Mota is the one guy that didn't actually get lit up. You want to blame someone, how about Prince Fielder moping around most of this series. 2 hits in 36 AB's on the roadtrip.
  22. For those that want Scherzer, I believe he was placed on the minor league DL with an arm issue.
  23. This is the first year I can recall that I haven't really looked forward to the Helena Box. Not a good sign when your #4 hitter was pitching the last two years.
  24. Pretty early, but Helena seems to be having a Mendoza party. Is there help on the way?
  25. Tavarez had good stuff and he was a fine choice for that situation. I wish we had more players like Braun that rubbed people the wrong way. It was incredibly stupid to hit Tejada to get Berkman up, but I think McClung did it all by himself. I think the next time the Rockies play in Milwaukee I would like to have a ticket when Jeff Baker comes to the plate.
