  1. Gallardo is a #2 type starter. Hall & Gwynn would be much closer to a one year rental or a #4 type starter. (Which would still be an improvement over McClung)
  2. Truth is Turnbow never had much of a second pitch either. His slider/curve pitch was downright nasty - but he didn't throw if very consistently. You can't teach speed.
  3. I am surprised Aguilar isn't higher. I can't imagine what else he could have done to improve his status.
  4. I highly doubt Gamel is a better defender than Bill Hall. However, Bill has really been struggling at the hot corner lately - and Gamel hasn't had an error in about a month. (Bill actually has 1 or 2 more errors than Gamel)
  5. I think for the sake of efficiency the Power 50 should look like this... 1-8: Huntville Stars 9-50: Everyone else
  6. Gamel checks in with another HR.
  7. I can't believe I had to leave off Gillespie and Errecart. I am excited about a lot of prospects right now.
  8. I would think his 5 inning 10 K game alone keeps him around #5. Young pitchers are going to struggle. It is all about ceiling. And so far, while the results have been mixed - Jeffress has looked very promising. He has been amazing thus far. And he throws 100 mph - I would think he is higher. 1. Gamel (Defensive much better. Best pure hitter in the system) 2. LaPorta (Lots to love, but also has defensive limitations) 3. Escobar (HR stroke has been a very pleasant surprise) 4. Salome (We are quickly approaching the point where Catching is no longer a need) 5. Jeffress (Too much promise to ignore. 10 K game was a gem) 6. Brantley (Young and playing great at AA. What position does he play? Will his OBP transfer with limited power?) 7. Aguilar (No one is even touching him. Debut at AA with two scoreless innings. And he throws 100) 8. Braddock (He is still only 20 years old) 9. Green (Look up Gamel's numbers at Brevard from last year. And then look up how Green is doing) 10. Lucroy (He is playing great. But he is the same age as Salome and only in low A)
  9. There are several college pitchers who could be MLB ready within a year or two. Plus, Huntsville's current lineup should still be on the Brewers 3-5 years from now. I think several players at A and A+ have a good shot at MLB success. (Taylor Green, Lucroy, Wheeler etc.)
  10. I can't remember the last time Gamel had an error. Has anyone ever hit over .400 in 200+ at bats in AA? Gamel has a shot. Our bats are doing so well in the minor leagues I would love to see 4 or 5 pitchers taken with our first 6 picks. With a few high ceiling pitchers , some are bound to pan out.
  11. Talk about how the Cubs are doing. Brewers have a long ways to go before I start watching the Cubs box scores again.
  12. Gamel has been on base in 42 straight games. He is 1-3 tonight with another HR. (Thus lowering his average!) Aguilar pitches two scoreless. Very nice debut. I actually think Turnbow might just retire after this year. This has to take a toll.
  13. That is about as exciting of a 1-0 May game as you will see.
  14. I know one of the advantages of Stubhub was you could send in your entire season tickets (or just the games you can't go to), and they will handle selling them and mailing them out for you. So they certainly provide better services, but the prices are insane. (I didn't even realize they were THAT insane)
  15. Stubhub might have changed now that they "partnered" with MLB, but they were the best to sell. You just posted them. Someone bought them. Your account was credited. You were given a prepaid envelop to ship them. However, Stubhub marks the tickets up a lot from your own price. (Think Ticketmaster) Therefore, you aren't going to maximize your earnings. (You sell for $10 - but the buyer pays $15) EBays takes the smallest portion. Plus, if you set up a paypal account you don't really have to worry about bouncing checks or dealing with the customer. EBay gets you the most money. Stubhub is the easiest to deal with.
  16. And Randolph is pretty much loathed by ever team in the NBA. He is like cancer to NBA teams. But talent wise - he probably would be better than Martin.
  17. I agree 100%. The perception of Prince is affected by his inability to speak well publically. It certainly does not signal that he is rude, stupid, lazy, or mean. But when you are unable to articulate your thoughts clearly - people will make inferences based on the comments you do make. Edit: Wanted to include that I don't think we should trade Prince now. I just think it is worth exploring in the off-season.
  18. He could have been ours for free in the off-season. So I would imagine Melvin and Co. are not interested.
  19. I'm just happy that Ned has finally joined the rest of Wisconsin. It is about time Ned starts questioning Ned Yost too!
  20. I think the sentiment isn't based solely on his contract comments. 1. Braun is a weekly participant in a Milwaukee morning talk show. Prince is not. 2. Prince's defense has been bad this year. Whether true or not - at times it look as if he lacks effort. 3. Remember when Prince was suppose to sign a bat for all the full-season ticket holder - and suddenly had a "conflict" even though this was set up months before? Prince disappointed many fans. Ryan Braun stepped in graciously signed the bats. 4. How often do you hear about Prince in the community? (Maybe he does, but I hear great things about Bill Hall and Weeks - not much about Prince) 5. Braun is signed long-term - which would suggest that signing Prince long term isn't as likely. 6. Braun has become the face of the franchise. Braun also stepped up and called out the team to play better. We hear about how Prince is a great leader in the clubhouse. But we see Braun being a leader. 7. Prince has a ton of value right now. The Brewers have a replacement. (LaPorta or Gamel) We need pitching - you must admit, trading him for pitching at least makes some sense.
  21. I think we all knew Aguilar's promotion was coming - but I am still very excited to see how he fares against AA competition.
  22. There has been some speculation in the media that Melo is on the block. The second trade is better. However, Denver would have to really want to get rid of Martin to take on Randolph. Unless Joe Johnson moves back to being a PG. Or Redd moves to a small forward. Neither is ideal obviously, but I am not sure it would be the factor that prevents a trade.
  23. Did Kapler's hit heal Gallardo's knee? Otherwise - no.
  24. That is kinda my point. If the major doesn't matter - how much does the degree really matter? I know plenty of individuals who are more intelligent than others with a degree. When in doubt, it is always better to be "certified" in something. (Engineer, Doctor, Lawyer, Teacher, Nurse, CPA etc.) To me, a general education in business (ie Marketing) is a waste of money. You would learn more spending 4 years as an intern at a business. However, the rest of the world doesn't always see it that way.
  25. Some of the major market teams would prefer to shell out $150+ million for Texeira and keep their prospects. When money isn't an issue, why trade away assets?
