  1. Kelly Clarkson (Season 1), Carrie Underwood (Season 4), and Jordin Sparks (Season 6) won American Idol are all pretty popular, the first two moreso than Jordan. Other notables who have not won include, Blake Lewis, Elliot Yamin, Clay Aiken, Kelly Pickler, and Chris Daughtry. I did watch the show last night and I would regrettably have to say that Archuleta performed better. I've been a Cook fan since the beginning and if iTunes says anything, he will be the more successful singer in his career, but Archuleta seems to be the one with a strong hold on this competition. This year has been the most talented of all the years, by far.
  2. Thanks for reporting that interesting information. That led me to investigate and discover that against teams that are not in 1st place in another division, the Brewers are 19-16 (they are 1-8 against FL and Boston). Update Cubs now 17-17 Brewers 20-16
  3. I will do my best to make this one. Are there any other racinians that may want to car pool?
  4. On May 19th, 2007 Milwaukee 26-17 Chicago 20-21 5.0 GB On June 1st, 2007 Milwaukee 31-24 Chicago 22-30 7.5 GB Other notable June 1st 2007 Records Colorado 25-30 7.5 GB Philly 26-28 8.5 GB New York Yankees 23-29 12.5 GB
  5. I'd be happy to not be embarrassed in Pittsburgh.... again
  6. If anyone would like to play tuesday at 6:50 in Racine, that would be great. We may need two people. Thanks in advance.
  7. We would have found a way to get him up to the Majors. It just made it easier that Dessens got "hurt"
  8. I'm pretty sure it has been brought up in the trade rumors, but i would guess combined they would bring in a #1 starter. If you split them up, maybe a 4/5 starter.
  9. and I thought this would be a bad day.... Congrats to Braun, the Brewers, Mark A., Doug Melvin, and Brewer Fans everywhere!
  10. Miller Park is better with 30,000 fans during the week who know what is going on that 45,000 on a Friday night who are half drunk. Or 27,500 fans that are fully drunk. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. I'm saying he won't improve
  12. Hall's infield fly ball percentage (out of all his fly balls) is at 22%. His career percentage is 10%. He has 9 IFFBs this year already, he had 15 all of last year. 13 in 06, 9 in 05.
  13. Weeks has gone down for both rehab and as an option over the last few years, I can't remember which was when exactly.
  14. I realize he is second to Corey Hart, but still, he's not getting junk.
  15. while I'm not advocating it nor predicting it, guys get promoted from AA to the majors all the time. see: Cabrera, Miguel. As well as "A" Ball. see: Albert Pujols
  16. The Cardinals are currently the poster boys for strong starting pitching and plate discipline. It is only my opinion but I believe it has hurt JJ Hardy's production This thread actually addresses both of these assumptions. St. Louis swings at about 1 more time every 25 Balls pitched as the Brewers do. To me that doesn't seem that great. JJ is actually getting more pitches in the zone than every other starter on the team. As far as the STL starting pitching, if history says anything, its pretty much a given that they will not sustain this level of success. They have also had a much easier schedule than the Brewers to this point. I said earlier in this thread, the only move I would make is giving Hall some days off and letting Dillon get a few more ABs. If Dillon plays well, play him more, if not, at least it could give Hall a shot in the arm. I fully expect everyone elses game to get back on track.
  17. I messed up on Weeks' p/PA. I put ABs instead of PAs, it is now adjusted and really not that high at all.
  18. All NL Central is finished. I really don't see anything that glaring that makes us different from any of the other teams. Maybe I am missing something.

Would it affect his hitting in general? - I think we can put to bed the notion that JJ isn't getting stuff to hit because he is in front of the pitcher. He leads the team in balls in the zone. - Kendall pretty much doesn't miss the ball when he swings. Seems to me like he's perfect for the roll he is in. Edit: I accidentally put Weeks' ABs, not PAs in my first draft. (4.8 p/PA seemed VERY high) Cubs PA O-Swing% Z-Swing% Swing% O-Contact% Z-Contact% Contact% Zone% Pitches P/PA R. 20. I was actually just looking at this today. Here is a link to Prince Fielder's Stats on Fangraphs.com. At the bottom of the page are strike zone statistics. O-Swing% = % of the time the player swings at pitches outside the zone Z-Swing% = % of the time the player swings at pitches inside the zone Swing% = % of the time the player swings for all pitches O-Contact% = % of the time the player makes contact when swinging at pitches outside the zone Z-Contact% = % of the time the player makes contact when swinging at pitches inside the zone Contact% = % of the time the player makes conatact when swinging at all pitches Zone% = % of the time the player sees a pitch inside the zone Pitches = Total pitches seen When I have sometime, I'll consolidate this data comparing how the rest of the league stacks up against the Brewers as far as "plate discipline" goes. Hope this helps
  21. This question was brought up on BBTN last night, which team has more staying power, The Rays or the marlins. I would have agree with steve phillips (ugh) and say that the Tampa Bay Rays, even in a harder division have more staying power. They are just the better team out of the two.
  22. I don't see much being done with weeks. Weeks is doing a much better job putting the ball in play this year, 18.6% K rate vs. 26.2% for his career. His BABIP right now is .204 vs a career .298 rate. I really think Rickie has just had some horrible luck. As for Hall, while his BABIP is over 100 points below his career average (.217 vs. .318), he is actually K'ing more than his career average (27.7%, 26.9%). I think Hall is in much more need of a few days off to clear his head than Rickie at this point.
  23. Free Joe Dillon! Hall needs to take a few games off. He just isn't getting on base at all. Everyone else seems to be coming around, at least a little bit, Hall just looks lost at the plate. Maybe they'll add a return sign for the suicide squeeze. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
