  1. Somebody please correct me off a ledge here on Fangio, but I hear he was once an assistant under Capers or from the same tree and runs a 3-4. I'm concerned more about the scheme of the DC being too similar to Capers. I'm tired of watching my defense in a two deep safety zone and watching everybody run underneath routes and convert time after time after time after time again on 3rd down. To me, Capers and the 3-4 plays his cornerbacks 8 yards off the receiver on 3rd and 3 and watches them backpeddle at the snap to give up easy completions against zone just about every damn play. I'm tired of zone. I want my db's playing man with safety help and the DL/LB to get home. Middle-School offenses can beat zone. Yes, a lack of a pass rush does hurt, but not as much as the poor scheme and technique in the secondary. When your routes are 2-3 second routes, your pass rush doesn't matter. If Fangio just means more zone, then I don't want him. Somebody please tell me where I'm wrong, I'm impressionable on this one.
  2. An All SEC Final squashes that momentum.
  3. Yup. I live in Utah. Watched this kid get hurt and come back fighting every time and succeed. He straight up beat Hundley out of camp as the #2. I don't care who he was playing against. At 27, he had more talent and brains than Hundley will ever have at 27yoa. How Hill was not #2 out of camp blows my mind. Saints can't keep him off the field FFS. Think so much of him, he plays on special teams and is among the 45 active on gameday. I think Hill goes 4-5 at a minimum in his starts. But Thompson had 3 years invested in Hundley...so we know how that goes.
  4. Agreed, but if Bell was truly available for that price I think we should look hard at it. It'd only commit us to him until age 30 and he is pretty much a once in a generation back. Pittsburgh does have Connor so maybe they'd move on. I wouldn't spend any money on anybody else. I'd agree with that. You look at those teams that are dominant right now and it's because they have pass-catching RB who's offense is capable of running through them for long periods of time, especially in the NFC. Panthers & McCaffrey, Saints & Kamara, Rams & Gurley, Vikings & Cook and on and on. Imagine the dominance the Packers could create with a pass-catching threat like Bell. I read that the Steelers were almost certainly going to tag him despite the $16M it's going to cost them, so the discussion is largely moot. I just wish we had more from the RB position than the 600yd backs that Thompson likes to draft and McCarthy likes to deploy.
  5. Welp...I'm 1 for 2 of 14 so far and got 2 of the 4 for internal Free Agents. Buh Bye Dom. A day earlier than necessary. TT right behind him. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21934687/green-bay-packers-fire-defensive-coordinator-dom-capers
  6. Bring in Callahan. I've seen all of this pile of manure in Hundley I can stand.
  7. I want to clear up procedural confusion...Rodgers would not be released as a free agent and free to sign with a Los Angeles market. He would be on waivers and subject to waiver order, meaning he would most likely be a Brown or Giant under his existing contract. While I would hate to see it (waiver penalty) happen, I'm kind of wanting it (embarrassing investigation) to occur so Ted Thompson would be forced to retire. Can't believe that a professional GM, who's job it is to manage a roster either doesn't know the rules or didn't care enough to do the right thing. I hear arguments that "every team does this", yet that's not truthful. Every team puts players on IR that are injured and unable to play. Rodgers was not injured, he was sore. And would have played had they not been eliminated from playoff contention. Should have just been inactive on game day. **Edited for clarity and words not misinterpreted.
  8. I concur. At best, this is really poor attention to detail...deliberate attempt to circumvent the rules, at worst. Ted Thompson blunder no doubt. I think we all know generally what happened and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. They waited until they were eliminated on Monday night/Tuesday morning and figured they would shut Aaron Rodgers down. He was probably cleared by the doctors and taken off of IR with juuuuust a little bit of hesitation by both football operations and medical operations. When they were eliminated, they probably put him back on IR without knowing or caring to look up the rules for placement on IR. They never reported another injury Rodgers wasn't re-injured. He didn't reinjure his collarbone. He didn't injure anything that would require placement on IR. He wasn't removed from the game and in McCarthy's post game presser or responses, simply said Rodgers was sore. Had they not been eliminated, a sore Rodgers would not have been placed on IR. They simply wanted the roster spot. I don't understand placing Rodgers on IR. Callahan was already reacquired and the more prudent move would have been to simply make Rodgers the 3rd QB or inactive on game day. At this point, there was no street free agent worthy of protecting on the 53-man roster at the risk of lying about Rodgers placement on the IR. I am ashamed that Ted Thompson essentially did something that the Patriots gets accused of. I think it's a lot more egregious than some Packers fans are minimizing it to be. This isn't about Rodgers playing or not, the Packers had ample reason to justify Aaron not playing. This is about manipulating the 53-man roster and violating the rules while doing it. Placing Aaron Rodgers on waivers doesn't seem like a prudent punishment, but I think the Packers should be punished in some manner.
  9. I don't know how you blow 18-pt leads in a single quarter in 3 straight games?
  10. Next drive...Hundley...3rd and 5...throws a -2yd route as his first read. This guy blows.
  11. 3rd and 5...Hundley throws a 1yd route. Sigh.
  12. Moves I want? 1. Fire DC Dom Capers on Tuesday January 2nd, 2018. 2. Hire DC....Jeremy Pruitt 3. Tell Ted Thompson to Retire/Move to Scout or Janitor, or whatever. Do it well before the 2018 draft. Promote Wolf. 4. Resign Morgan Burnett, Davante Adams, Brett Goode, Corey Linsley at or slightly above reasonable market value 5. Resign Richard Rodgers, Davon House, and Jahri Evans at or under market value 6. Let Brooks, Dial, Goodson, and Janis walk. 7. Let the 2019 impending free agents worry about itself in March of 2019. 8. Sign Le'Veon Bell to 5yr/$65M deal. (Assuming he is not franchised by Pittsburgh) 9. Sign EJ Gaines/Malcolm Butler/Impact CB with cold weather success in Free Agency. 10. Sign Preston Brown/Demario Davis/Avery Williamson/Solid Tackling Type LB in Free Agency at Market Value 11. Draft Roquon Smith LB Georgia in the 1st round (pick 15 or so) 12. Draft Mark Andrews TE Oklahoma in the 2nd round (Pick 45 or so) 13. Draft OT and OG in rounds 3 and 4. 14. Stop drafting DT in the first six rounds. Find UDA or journeymen DT.
  13. How about a drive that ends at :01 with a bucky touchdown!
  14. gotta go for 2, yeah?
  15. I've never seen such a repeated failure to complete a screen pass. Good grief.
  16. How many turnovers can Hornibrook be given tonight? Good Job D. Keep fightin'
  17. 30 minutes and Hornibrook has led them to 0 points really. Defensive score and a gift wrapped drive that he basically does nothing with. Yes, the defense is struggling to tackle and cover, but FFS, I feel like I'm watching Brett Hundley led an offense out there.
  18. Horrible throw. Can't give his team any momentum.
  19. Why are we punting from our opponents 36 and 38yd line? :shakes head:
  20. Hornibrook'd
  21. Ohio State - Call it recent history or whatever, I have zero confidence watching them play Ohio State. Alabama - I don't think Hornibrook could lead touchdown drives against that defense. Auburn - Just too dynamic for our linebackers. Could see Auburn scoring 40+ on Wisconsin. Clemson - They've been there. I think offensively they can be a juggernaut and have a solid defense as well. Georgia - I don't think as dynamic as Auburn. I could see Wisconsin winning a game against them with a similar style and winning turnover game. Miami - I don't think they are very good. They've trailed late and barely beat some really bad teams. Oklahoma - They can't stop anybody on defense. Control time of possession and get some stops on defense and Wisconsin wins by double digits.
  22. And you'd argue correctly. My wife is a Florida State Alum. Every single person that I've heard vouch for Alabama continues to reference them beating FSU when FSU "was ranked". They all want to drink the kool-aid that FSU only started losing games because of their QB injury and thus, FSU was a really good football team when they beat them...why? Well, because FSU was ranked. There should be zero rankings prior to November. Anybody who says the CFP ignores pre-season polls has got more length on their schnoz than Pinocchio.
  23. Similar to the end of the game, I thought it was all a result of Brett Hundley and his inability to avoid a sack. The first play of the final possession of each half was very telling. Hundley was given every opportunity to get a drive started and flailed miserably. My only problem with McCarthy is he is too often content to play for overtime despite time and time and time and time and time and time again not being the right decision. vs Arizona in playoff twice, and other times. There was zero reason to kick the extra point when the Packers scored to make it 27-28. You absolutely know that the Steelers are going to advance the ball on Dom's prevent defense.
