  1. Additionally, It is shocking to many here that Gamel gets plenty of practice pre-game, one on one coaching, that is far more valuable than 2 ground balls during a game.
  2. Exactly hit on the head. And the parent's job isn't to whine about the kid screaming for the monster. All kids scream about monsters. Don't huff and puff that you have to do your job as a parent. Back to the rumour mill. Here's hoping today's outing by Parra spurs Melvin to go out and get something. At this point, I'd be all for giving up a middle-tier prospect for a #3 type starter, doesn't have to be a front line guy anymore. I think we need to tread some water for a while.
  3. It's easy, if you don't want to listen/read to reader spam, don't open the email. I personally don't have a problem with him not reporting the rumor, that's not the issue. The issue is him whinning over listening to rumor. It's like that girl who listens to the gossip, then doesn't like what message was told by the gossiper. Hello McFly?!?!?!?!
  4. You can't blame non-Brewers fans outside of Milwaukee for thinking we are so horrible. Anytime we are a national televised game, we get our arses handed to us. Can somebody research our record on Nationally televised games in the past 5 years or so? I bet the winning percentage is around .200
  5. Insert your favorite Parra excuse here Let's hear it? 4 more earned runs early. Why shouldn't he be removed from the rotation yet?
  6. Harden looking rusty in his first start back of the DL. Twinkies leading 2-0 early.
  7. So what Melvin is really saying is that "he is looking at a bat". I get ya, Doug! Way to spin it so Coy!
  8. Any other Brewers prospects at the CWS besides Daivs?
  9. Maybe not the best forum, but can somebody explain or recap the Badger Blogger incident?
  10. I dislike TH's attitude, always have. The "childish audience" excuse doesnt hold water for me. It's as simple as Do unto others as they would do unto you. If he hates the people he serves so much, perhaps he should find a different occupation. When you write in a manner that is condescending to your audience, expect them to reply in a similiar fashion. This has been rehashed several times, yet Tom still seems to get a tizzy and makes several simple errors when reporting on his blog. With that attitude he's given readers over the past few years, it can't surprise they take every chance they can to give it back to him. Once TH changes his know it all and condescending mentality, perhaps the viewership will as well.
  11. 2012? Just thinking about 2012 makes my brain hurt. I know a lot of guys are up on the prospects and the minor leagues and all, I just can't force myself to worry about the MLB Brewers roster as it looks for 2012 when it's June 2009.
  12. I don't doubt him really Brian, and you know me, I was a Brewers employee until this season and have scooped a few items of my own. As someone who provides a scoop, if it isn't a sure thing, I don't think you can mention the name. Your credibility is shot and it serves no purpose to be wrong. That is all I was saying, I dont doubt that he knows more than he is saying, he just can't say and risk it not happening and be called "wrong". Hopefully it's a #1 or #2 guy on somebody else's staff. I'm glad something is cooking sooner than later.
  13. Because if you keep it vague, then regardless of what happens, your "scoop" can't be considered wrong. If the Brewers acquire any starter...the scoop isn't wrong. I don't feel any different today than yesterday when someone says, "The Brewers are going to acquire a starter, but I dont know who" That was pretty much a given all year. But Brian's information that something is in the works soon is still exciting.
  14. He had the same girlfriend all last season. Not sure anymore, since moving away
  15. 1 game seems like plenty in my opinion. It would seem they gave him 2 games, knowing it would be reduced to 1 game on appeal. If you give him 1 game, how do you lower it on appeal? Seems like a "ticky-tack" reason for a suspension in the first place, but as an example, they must feel the need to suspend him. I personally dont think any suspension is neccessary..ejection from the game for his behavior seemed good enough, but Cameron will be the latest to be made example of I guess.
  16. Sports Animal 620 here in the Tampa market is reporting that the Rays have signed Jorge Julio. They believe he is going to Durham, the AAA affiliate.
  17. Sorry you felt that way. It wasn't my intention to slam Cameron. I think there are two sides to the issue. Many people do not know the thought process, reasonings, mannerism of umpiring, let alone the rules half the time. I tried to bring to light some of those issues. Sorry if it became difficult to read without you feeling compelled to believe I was being negative to another Brewer. I think many people have shared the same sentiments as I have. This topic concerns umpiring, so I commented regarding umpiring, doesn't seem that makes it umpirefan.net? I didn't go into a thread about Parra and talk about umpiring...into a thread about Billy Hall not hitting and turn it into a thread about umpiring. My apologies if I said something you didn't agree with about beloved Brewers' behavior, I just wanted to impart some knowledge of living in the other guy's shoes. I'll try not to do that in the future.
  18. To be honest, this is how they are teaching and instructing "recruits" at the two sanctioned MLB umpire academies. I don't think umpires are trying to be intentional flashy for the sake of "look at me". MLB has accepted and encouraged this behavior by teaching it at the academies.
  19. I don't know that I needed to be called a name for my opinion, but to each his own. Having been an umpire at the NCAA level and worked for sometime within MLB (a position that held close interaction with umpires), I'll disagree that most umpires are arrogant. I think the point about people paying to see umpires is true, but I've never seen an umpire act as if that is true. The umpire kept his cool until Cameron decided to turn around and whine for the 10th time in the series. Enough is enough. An umpire has to get control over the game and not allow Cameron to continue to hold up the game over some whiny diatribe (sp?) after each at-bat. An umpire has an obligation, one that he only engaged in after Cameron approached him from the batters box after the called strike 3. Cameron's motion should have been head down to the dugout, not to the rear of the catcher's box. Your opinions are insightful, but please dont try and create a perception that umpires think the game is all about them and a majority are arrogant...that couldn't be further from the truth.
  20. Thanks for clearing that up. "replaced by a computer" didnt seem accurate. I had wondered how a computer would call a balk, call safe/fair, etc. As for the computer system to call balls and strikes, how does it know to change the strike zone based upon the players height? If a player's stance changes mid-pitch to adjust for the pitch, buckling knees. Too many questions in my mind, yet, but perhaps it would do. I'm not sure how a quetec system would change/eliminate a "diva" umpire. Mangers and players whine equally as much about plays at the plate, etc as they do balls and strikes
  21. I disagree that the home plate umpire would be replaced. Does the 3rd plate umpire then rotate to call safe/out calls at the plate?
  22. Don't get me wrong Marc, I get your point about the umpire's return conduct. But if Cameron just puts his head down and walks back to the dugout, all could be avoided. His conduct towards the officials was whiny all weekend and then he reacted in the wrong manner. If Cameron turns around towards the dugout and the umpire chases him down, I'd be more inclined to get on the umpire. In this case, talk of Marvin Hudson's conduct is much ado about nothing, in my opinion
  23. You're right?, Cameron immediately turned around and walked back to the dugout, not looking for an argument at all?
  24. Ump probably had enough of Cameron's mouth. Day after Day the whole series of whining. I would have given him a piece too. Umpires dont need to be your complaining post. Once or twice, a word here to let them know you disagree with the zone is fine. But the incessant whinning and prolonged standing in the box can only be tolerated for so long. Enjoy your vacation Mike.
