  1. Don't think so. Two perfect throws and he was still safe. The odds of getting one run there are much greater than getting one before recording another out. he was out by three steps, but was lucky that ramos didn't handle the throw. It was a terrible decision to send him (how many guys score from first on a single?). I'm not complaining about the result, but boggs is probably out 7 or 8 times out of 10 there. Which are roughly the sane chances that counsel comes up and gets a hit to score him if he stats at third.
  2. And my afternoon just got more productive. Geez. What's going on with Yo?
  3. I live in St. Louis. People here really support the Cardinals, but as a fan base they can be obnoxious. Not in the drunk Cubs fan way. But they think that just because there's this crazy support for the team, transplants should drop their allegiances to other teams. They brag about how they cheer for executed sac bunts so that tells you all you need to know in my opinion.
  4. Yeah, that's true about Pi. Great pizza too. If anybody makes it to St. Louis, it's worth venturing to the west side of the city to try it.
  5. As long as you avoid Imo's or Cecil Whitaker's, you should be fine. Agreed. Provel is horrible and a lot of STL restaurants will also put it on steak sandwiches and such. If the menu doesn't clearly say what kind of cheese is on something, make sure you ask. Also be wary when it says something like "special cheese blend."
  6. Could it be the number of options Kintzler has considering he shouldn't be up for long with Hawkins coming back?
  7. I live in St. Louis and agree with everything rawbecht says (except for the Skybox Sports Bar part, that close about a year ago). There a bunch of bars just south of the stadium that have great crowds before and after games. If you like Blues, there are two great Blues Clubs around the area too. Downtown St. Louis is as safe as downtown Milwaukee. If that scares you, I would recommend switching to a hotel in the suburbs and taking the metro to the games. If you are interested in the young to mid-20s bar crowd, check out The Landing at night. If you're a little bit older or have more sophisticated tastes, check out Washington Avenue. Depending on where your hotel is, you may be able to walk to either area. If you're interested in taking a short cab ride, I'd say check out the Central West End or the Loop which are both west of downtown but still in the city. They have more of an eclectic/hipster vibe, if that's your thing.
  8. It is not a nickname, it is another person. For example, when he is on the ball field or ice rink he is a bad mother who doesn't back down from anyone including catchers who weigh 100 lbs more than him. When he is accompanying a fashionable young debutant to the opera, tasting wine, hunting foxes or playing bridge he becomes the charming chap Tony Plush. He just told Homer that Tony Plush is the hard-working on the field personality and Nyjer is the off-the-field businessman.
  9. The Nyjer Morgan Experience is on Homer's show on espnmilwaukee.com right now, and it's delightful.
  10. Not looking forward to explaining to my wife why I had to spend 30 bucks on this.
  11. It's nice to see one of these "other people's trash" transactions work out so well. *knocks on wood* Can Tony Plush play SS? (/blue)
  12. Jesus, Gomez. Has there ever been a player so exciting and at the same time make so many dumb plays?
  13. Did the new season start, or am I stuck in last year's nightmare Rip Van Winkle-style?
  14. It doesn't count unless its a division championship banner.
  15. In a weird throw away line in Dan Szymborski's blog on ESPN. He mentions the Brewers are pursuing Jeff Francis, which I hadn't heard elsewhere. That would be a nice low risk high reward type signing for the No. 5 slot if they could pull it off for a small contract. It's for Insider's only, but here's the line where he mentions Francis (also suggested pursuing Kevin Millwood). He mentioned that the ZiPS projections have the Cards winning the NL Central with 87 wins and the Reds and Brewers tied with 85 wins.
  16. I dont buy this report for one second. If it does happen: Best Christmas EVER!
  17. I think Braun has enough cache with the organization to make sure this never happens, even if they would want to consider it. Braun will be a perennial All-Star starter in the OF. Not so at 1B.
  18. Limited supply+More demand=higher value, which is why Hart will bring back better than his perceived overall value if he's traded now and why Prince would bring back lesser value. This is a concept that's true in virtually every business, including baseball. Some of the top prospect trades are a bit pie-in-the-sky, but they are no more ridiculous than the idea that the Brewers should settle for a project like Sanchez or unwanted prospects.
  19. You just had to say it, didn't you? If his lanky you-know-what falls into the wall going back for a ball tonight and tears up a knee, I know who I'm blaming.
  20. Man, so many good players on this team. I really like this group. It makes it so much more depressing to want to see some of them traded away.
  21. I expressed a nearly identical thought in the chat (though I'm reluctant to trivialize mental health disorders, it really seems to fit).Yes, apologies and no trivialization meant - I just can't think of a better way to put it. Don't feel bad. Bipolar disorder got its name from a word that accurately describes the Brewers. 1. having or marked by two mutually repellent forces or diametrically opposed natures or views
  22. Quickly turning into a "Who's going to have to PH with a pitcher first?" kinda game.
  23. I really can't believe Casey is ... well ... a good player. So happy.
