  1. Pitching. When they are good, they have it coming out of their sanctimonious ears.
  2. First, this is a really weird, but at the same time interesting and informative thread. Second, for cheap produce check out the farmers markets in your area. Often the produce is much, much cheaper (and I would argue better tasting) than even stores like Aldi. My wife likes to buy a thing of honey along with our fruit at the local farmers market down here in StL. Drizzle a little over the fruit: It's actually really good for those of us with a sweet tooth.
  3. Rivera is starting again tonight. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/53588312.html
  4. Brooks Hall signs for $700,000. From TH via BA.
  5. Actually Valentine was just let go by his Japanese team. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090727&content_id=6087656&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  6. Wouldn't that make him an "eh"-ore?
  7. Nope not yet, but it should be in a few minutes.
  8. I wonder if Roger Caplinger is the next guy to get the axe. This team has seemed plagued by injuries in recent years, and the Bush and Sheets misdiagnoses really stick out in my mind.
  9. I mostly agree with you on this, but you never no what some desperate GM will give the Brewers simply because they are getting an "All-Star" SS. This is also my hope with "All-Star" Corey Hart.
  10. This isn't all that surprising considering the Yost firing in the middle of a playoff race last year. Although I don't think he ever copped to it, I believe it was reported that it was Mark A's call, and I see him behind these moves as well.
  11. At least I have a reason to pay attention to the games again. I'll be interested to see how Escobar does.
  12. Kinda funny that Manny is getting it done in L.A. Wasn't this where the implosion began last season? After the game didn't he say something about how he was pounding the zone, it just so happened it was the middle of the zone?
  13. Man, Braun exploded like Corey Hart's appendix on that one.
  14. I have to concur with Briggs. He had a nice stretch in the Bigs, but once that whole in his swing was exposed - well - so was he. I'm very concerned about his long-term viability as being more than just a guy on this squad. If he could have got us anything beyond a half-season rental player this year, we should have traded him.
  15. Melvin says "We were involved in a big one that didn't happen" - per TH
  16. Problem is that there is no guarantee that he pitches at all this year. No thanks.
  17. Ugh, hopefully Rolen will be too focused on murdering the Cardinals to be a Brewer killer.
  18. Yeah, if the Bucks don't match the offer sheet, it will have to do with the length of his contract rather than the size of his year-to-year salary. The changes the Bucks have made are not high profile, but I like them much better than what they did last year. This team has the building blocks it needs to be a very good team in the future and an interesting (maybe even exciting in a "scoring 110 points in a loss" kinda way).
  19. I was at his last appearance a couple days ago in St. Louis. When they announced that Vargas was coming in, I said: "Wow, this guy is still hanging around." And now he's on my team. Awesome.
  20. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. This season stinks.
  21. This is by far the most confounding and frustrating trade deadline I can remember.
