  1. Rivera's got a 1.000 OBP today -- he's 2-2 with 3 walks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif His season OBP has to be nearing .400...
  2. Bill Hall failed to win ballgames there. Hanrahan's pretty nasty, though...kind of reminds me of Turnbow in that he strikes out and walks a ton of guys. Edit: My personal prediction -- CC pinch hits and drives home the winning run. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. This one feels like extra innings to me, but hopefully Bill Hall proves me wrong. It'd be awesome to see Prince destroy Jesus Flores at the plate for the winning run.
  4. The best part about last inning was that it set up Hardy-Kapler-Fielder to start the bottom of the 9th. Hopefully Hardy or Kapler can get on so they have to pitch to Prince.
  5. I don't know why Harris was playing so far in left center on that Rivera double, but I'm definitely not going to complain. Nice AB by Rivera.
  6. Hall lucked into a hit there, but I still wouldn't have let him hit against a righty. Branyan would've made more sense with 2 outs, IMO.
  7. Unfortunately, you can't get 15 sellouts or so in a row without filling the park with the boo-happy fans. I just wish they were as quick to cheer when something good happens, but it seems like they're always more interested in doing the wave than cheering on a Brewers rally.
  8. Right on cue, there's the Ned Smirk in the dugout. That Zimmerman AB just killed Gagne...he threw everything he had at him.
  9. Crap. Gagne left it up. Classic '08 Gagne -- get the first two outs, go through a 12 pitch at-bat, and give up a HR to the next guy.
  10. That is about all he does. Cameron also has a better OBP than Corey Hart despite hitting 50 points worse, and has 19 doubles in about 80 games. He's not nearly as worthless as a lot of people think he is.
  11. What, no complete game for Manny, Ned? Good to see him bounce back with a great performance after that rough outing in Cincy.
  12. The first half of USA/China was very entertaining, especially after watching the 2004 debacle. China was able to stick around early because they're on fire from 3 point range (something like 7 of 12), but the US started pulling away when they applied the full court press -- lots of bad, high arcing Chinese passes are being picked off by LeBron and Kobe. Dwight Howard's been a beast so far, too, and Yao only has about 5 points.
  13. I'm crazy about the Crew. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Also kind of a play on Duke's "Cameron Crazies" modified to the Brewers. It's dumb and simple, but I wouldn't be able to remember anything else.
  14. Michael Phelps is freaking incredible. That's all. Looking forward to watching USA blow out China in basketball tomorrow before the Brewer game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. That's 5 hits for Ben this year, isn't it? That's got to be a career high...
  16. I really wish Ned didn't care about pointless things like complete game shutouts...they're nice when you need to give your bullpen a day off, but a lot of those guys haven't pitched for more than a week.
  17. Why not just take Ben out after 8 innings and 102 pitches? If Ned keeps letting Ben and CC throw 120 pitches a night, they'll have nothing left by the end of September. Let David Riske throw...the poor guy hasn't seen a baseball for like 3 weeks.
  18. Haha...Jim Powell: "Let me get this straight...Braun's never had back trouble, he spends the entire day with a supermodel, and now his back is sore...huh..."
  19. I get the sneaking suspicion that if Branyan actually does get the start, Ned will bench Hardy or Weeks just to keep Counsell's gritty ABs in the lineup, even though Weeks has been good lately and Hardy had a pretty good game last night. I'm still waiting for Ned to give Prince a day off so Counsell can play first and hit cleanup.
  20. The Bernie Mac show was great, and I loved his performance in Ocean's Eleven. "Black man can't get a job dealing cards? Pft...might as well call it White Jack." Why do all the talented people have to die young? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  21. That Drill Bill pic is actually kinda funny..it'd be better if it wasn't made in Microsoft Paint, though. I don't think Hall showed up the Cards on either of his go-ahead HR's, though -- he's always had a long follow-through to his swing. I think a lot of Cards fans had a problem with Bill spitting out his tobacco juice when he put his head down, but they make it seem like he used Pujols' foot as a spittoon. I think LaRussa's too smart to risk throwing at Hall when everyone is expecting it and the Cards still have something to lose. If they're well out of the race the next time they meet up with the Brewers, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see something happen. At the very least he'll bait Ned into doing something stupid again.
  22. I like adding games to the wildcard lead -- let's do it again tomorrow. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Amazing start by Sabathia...I thought I heard something like he had only thrown 16 balls in the 7th inning, which is insane. He was throwing his breaking stuff for strikes, and had the Nats swinging at fastballs out of the zone as a result. One of the most entertaining pitching performances of the year so far, IMO.
  23. I want no part of Francisco Rodriguez. The guy is going to shatter the record deal for relief pitchers after he breaks a meaningless record this year (with as many save-situation games the Angels find themselves in, any closer in baseball would be chasing that mark right now), and he makes Jose Valverde and Carlos Zambrano look like calm guys. With that violent motion, I wouldn't be surprised if he runs into arm problems in the future, too. Torres has been good enough that I'd want him to stick around...let someone else make the K-Rod mistake. I'd hope the Brewers at least make an offer to Sabathia and/or Sheets, but at the same time, a lot of guys are starting to hit arby so it's hard to plan what an extension for either pitcher would look like. It'd be nice if Hart and Hardy would sign a long-term deals to lock down their salary status, but keeping one of the two pitchers would pretty much guarantee Prince being traded with the next year or two, wouldn't it?
  24. How'd you like to be Mike Cameron right now? He's been white hot so far in August, and he's stuck hitting between Craig Counsell and Jason Kendall. Yikes.
  25. I'll be hoping the Cubs and Brewers win every game this weekend to bury the Cards. I don't trust the Marlins to take care of the Cards, considering how bad the Marlins' pitching is. I'll refrain from actually watching any Cards/Cubs games this weekend, though, because if I have to hear Len Kasper lose his mind on every base hit by the Cubs, I might have to switch to rooting for the Cards.
