  1. DeRosa has 2 of the 3 Chicago hits tonight...heh.
  2. Edmonds gone on three straight strikes, too. Where was this CoCo in August last year?
  3. I fully expect Aramis Ramirez to tie it with a HR to lead off the 9th.
  4. Reds tie the Cubs at 1 in the top of the 6th, but the Cards have scored in 3 straight innings to take an 8-2 lead over the Bucs. Out west, the Padres have taken a 4-0 first-inning lead over the D-Backs.
  5. Peter: Oh god, I hope you're not pregnant, we can't afford another kid. We already got Chris, Stewey, Richie, Joanie, Greg, Marsha, Bobby, Jan, Mike Seaver, Carol Seaver, Boner, Urkel, Mr. Furley... Brian: Peter those aren't your kids, that's the Nick-at-Night lineup. Peter: Blanka, Zangeif, Chun-Li, Guile, E. Honda... Brian: That's Street Fighter. Peter: Red, blue, green... Brian: Those are colors. Lois: Peter, what did you promise me? Peter: That I wouldn't drink at the stag party. Lois: And what did you do? Peter: Drank at the stag pa-- ... Whoa. I almost walked into that one. Peter: I've got an idea--an idea so smart that my head would explode if I even began to know what I'm talking about.
  6. For basketball, it looks like West Salem has adopted the Carolina Panthers logo on WisHoops, but I don't think they actually sell anything with the logo: http://images.wissports.net/wsn/hs/60/462.jpg
  7. Aww man, looks like you beat me by 5 minutes since I took so long looking for mine. I'll just copy and paste my post and someone can delete the other thread. Stewie: Did you hear that Meg? Guys can marry other guys now. So...this is awkward, but I mean, if they can do that, that is pretty much it for you, isn't it? I mean you as well pack it in. Game over. Stewie (talking on Sesame Street phone): Put me through to the Pentagon! Ernie: Do you know what sound a cow makes? Stewie: Don't toy with me Ernie! I've already dispacted Mr. Hooper, I've got 6 armed men stationed out side Big Bird's nest, and well as for Linda, well, its rather difficult for a deaf woman to hear an assasin approach now, isn't it?! Lois: You're drunk again. Peter: No, I'm just exhausted 'cause I've been up all night drinking. Peter: Everybody I've got bad news. We've been cancelled. Lois: Oh no Peter! How could they do that? Peter: Well unfortuantely Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We just gotta accept the fact that FOX has to make room for terrific shows like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80's Show, Wonder Falls, Fast Lane, Andy Richter Controls The Universe, Skin, Girl's Club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real, Freaky Links, Wanda At Large, Costello, The Lone Gunman, A Minute with Stan Hooper, Normal Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddy, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric The Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, And Greg The Bunny.... Lois: Is there no hope? Peter: Well I suppose if ALL those shows go down the tubes we might have a shot.
  8. Edit: Late by about 5 minutes. Could a mod delete this thread so we don't have two?
  9. Yeah, Bolt said something like he already owns the world record in the 100m, so his goal was to win the Gold, not to set another new world record. Personally, I'm waiting for him to turn around and backpedal across the finish line in one of his races.
  10. Call me crazy, but having a career K/BB ratio of about 4 qualifies as ace material. I can't get too upset about his recent starts because it's been like a replay of 2004 with the offense struggling to score. To say he can't win the big games seems a little weird to me, considering the Brewers have really only been playing "big games" the past two years. I don't think most of the anti-Sheets crowd will realize what the Brewers have until he's gone...I feel there's going to be multiple times next season that we're going to be wishing we still had Sheets pitching every 5 days, and you can bet that the other teams in the division will be thrilled to see him leave (assuming he doesn't land in Houston). To me, that's a bigger part of "ace-yness" than avoiding winless streaks in the middle of the season.
  11. Rickie's looked pretty good out at second base so far today. As long as he keeps taking his time and doesn't try to rush anything, he should be fine. Here's to hoping for more runs and knocking Wandy out early. After seeing him mow down the Brewers in his last start in Milwaukee, I want to see him get crushed.
  12. KAPLAN! Fielder sac fly to follow on the next pitch...good start, guys. Please don't stop at 2 again today.
  13. If you couldn't tell from the guy in the Oktoberfest leiderhosen throwing out the first pitch, it's La Crosse Area day at Miller Park. They should've signed Damian Miller to a 1-day contract just for this game...he was always clutch on these days. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. I wonder how long it'll take this game thread to turn into another vent thread. I was only able to watch last night's game up until the inning Houston tied it and I had a hard time figuring out what I missed since most of the posts were "Sheets sucks" and "Playoff teams don't ever play this bad". Pretty good lineup to have against a lefty, and it's good to see Rivera starting to get more than one start every two weeks lately. Hopefully Braun can return in the Pirates series, but hopefully he won't need to be rushed back.
  15. The human windmill strikes again...ugh. Hopefully Hardy can get at least one in.
  16. Sheets faked the bunt and tried to slash play, but got under it too much and flew out to shallow right. Not a bad idea, since Ben showed he can't bunt last inning.
  17. I'm waiting for Sheets to rip off his Brewers jersey on the mound and reveal a Houston Astros t-shirt underneath, before blasting Ned Yost in the skull with steel chair. But maybe that's just the 12-year old WWE fanboy coming out. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hopefully the offense doesn't stop at 2 runs tonight. They looked really good the first time through the order, but it looks like Moehler's settling down. Sheets makes Pence look silly sometimes with that wacky swing of his.
  18. Yo went back out and pitched against the Cubs after the injury in the same game. There was no way to know that Yo had torn his ACL during that game -- after the game, everyone thought that he had just tweaked his knee. It wasn't until he went in for the MRI that we found out he had torn his ACL. I agree it was stupid to keep him out there to risk arm injury while overcompensating for his knee, but that's more on Yost than it is the training staff. Once the ACL is torn, it can't be torn any more.
  19. It would take an epic collapse by Webb in order for him not to win the Cy, IMO. The guy will likely end up with 20-23 wins, which will pretty much clinch the award most years (not saying that I agree with it, but it's usually the way it works). On a SportsCenter special the other day, Steve Phillips actually mentioned Sabathia in the NL MVP race, but not the Cy Young race -- I was only half-listening, but he said something like he felt no other player had as big of an impact on his team as Sabathia's acquisition had on the Brewers. I don't know how a pitcher could win the MVP if he wasn't even deemed to be the best pitcher in his league, but whatever. As far as the MVP race goes, I'll say Braun finishes third or fourth, due to all the time he's going to miss due to injury by the end of the year. If he had stayed healthy he probably had a chance at 40+ HR and 120 RBI, but like Ennder said, he won't get the necessary counting stats now. I'd say David Wright would get a ton of support from the national meda if the Mets pull out the East, and likewise for Chase Utley and the Phils. If the Cards stay close until the end of the year, Pujols will get a ton of support too, despite his power numbers being down a bit.
  20. I'm a little irritated by tonight's decision to leave him in, but I'll be pretty ticked if this means they can't skip a couple of Parra's starts. Considering how vital he'll be to the team's success next year, I'd say it's a heck of a lot more important to keep Parra's innings down and reduce his risk of injury than it is to get Sabathia a Cy Young award by racking up complete games.
  21. Here's to hoping for a Sabathibomb tonight, and pitching around Geoff freaking Blum. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Sheets would be the next best free agent pitcher after Sabathia, but I think some teams will be scared away by his injury history and could decide to move onto guys like Ryan Dempster or Oliver Perez. Personally, I've always kind of liked Ollie Perez for whatever reason. I think he'd be an interesting guy to take a chance on in free agency, but I'm not sure the Mets will let him get away, considering how well he's been pitching lately. He's got a tendency to drive you crazy with his inconsistency, though...he's a lot like Manny Parra in that he strikes out a lot of guys but also puts a lot of guys on base. He'll have one game with 10 strikeouts in 7 innings, and then he'll go out and give up 5 runs in 5 innings his next outing. I'd be afraid of overpaying for him, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers kick the tires a bit.
  23. The Northwoods League teams especially need those advertising partnerships to pay the bills...it's pretty expensive to keep a park running all summer, especially if you sometimes have trouble drawing people to the park. I don't mind the advertising at Miller Park, considering the park itself is pretty much a giant advertisement for Miller Brewing. The gas pump is a little tacky (what do gas pumps have to do with hitting home runs?), but at the same time, it's kind of cool to be able to look up and see how many HR's the team has hit this year. Depending on where you sit (and how good your eyesight is), you don't even notice most of the advertising. I guess I would mind more if the sponsors were for really tacky products or companies, like in Major League 2 when Dorn sells every bit of advertising he can because he's running the team into the ground -- "any of you folks having trouble finding a good proctologist might want to come down here and check out the area around the 375 foot sign..."
  24. Even with those 2 RBI in the 9th today, Durham's been pretty bad since coming to Milwaukee, although it is a tiny sample size. I guess I just don't have much faith in him producing more than Weeks if he gets any kind of extended playing time, especially considering Weeks' recent stretch. It just really stinks seeing Rickie get hurt again...his production has been disappointing, but you hate to see him get dealt another bad break. Does anyone know if it's the same thumb that's been giving him problems in the past? Edit: I suppose I should at least read the lede in the link, huh? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. Ugh...oh well. The Brewers really had no business winning the game, anyway. It would've been nice to steal one, but it would've been completely unexpected. Tough to win when your starting pitcher gives up 3 home runs.
