  1. True, but that K/BB number is so pretty I couldn't resist. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Holy crap the thread title gives me goosebumps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif The Brewers (49-40) hope to climb back into the wildcard lead with a win over the Rockies (37-52) and a little help from the Phillies tonight. Tonight's starters: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2007/10/06/8muXvoGG.jpg Mark Redman, LHP 37.0 IP 2-3, 7.05 ERA 20 K/13 BB Career vs. MIL 65.0 IP 6-2, 2.49 ERA http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20080707/capt.a63a54d0bdd84941a7730fc277f29d40.indian_brewers_trade_baseball_wimg105.jpg CC Sabathia, LHP 122.1 IP 6-8, 3.83 ERA 123 K/34 BB Career vs. COL 14.2 IP 0-1, 9.82 ERA Brewers lineup: 2B Rickie Weeks SS JJ Hardy LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder RF Corey Hart 3B Bill Hall CF Mike Cameron C Jason Kendall P CC Sabathia Win it for CC! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. It makes me sad that even in the wake of the Sabathia trade, the 4-Letter Network can't seem to get the little things right when talking about the Brewers. When they showed clips of the Sabathia press conference, they said it was Sabathia on the left and Doug Melvin on the right. It was Ned Yost. In uniform. Jeff Cirillo needs to be involved more in the FSN broadcasts. I don't care if it means adding a third guy into the booth -- the guy is a ton of fun to listen to and I've always thought he knows more about the game than Bill Schroeder ever did. I just wish they would bring him into the broadcast more than just using him as a second Davey Nelson. I don't even really like Brian Anderson -- too many stupid catchphrases (or misguided sayings -- bases-clearing double, grand slam range, etc.), too many mistakes that he refuses to admit, openly bashing statheads, calling for a home run every time a runner gets on base, etc. It's getting to the point where I'm willing to sacrifice having the sound and picture synced up so I can listen to Ueck and Jim while watching the game, even if the radio is a full pitch ahead of the video on TV. The stupid wave thing bugs me, too. I was at the Orioles game where Manny Parra was struggling to throw strikes and was routinely getting into jams early -- fans were doing the wave when the Brewers were losing and the O's were threatening to break the game open.
  4. If the Brewers are still talking to the Diamondbacks, I'm almost positive it'd be about a reliever instead of O-Dawg. Juan Cruz or Tony Pena would be great.
  5. He'll break the windshield on the Tundra sitting in right center and launch a few into the Dew Deck, and that's just Tuesday night. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Every board has a variety of opinions and personalities. It'd be unfair to dismiss the entire forum just because a few people tend to have opinions that we wouldn't agree with. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif As for this being a chance to limit Parra's innings, I could definitely see that happening down the road. I imagine they'll let Parra make his starts before the All-Star break after pushing him back to Thursday, and then they'll re-evaluate things when they set up their second half rotation. I could definitely see Bush/McClung making spot starts for a month or so in an attempt to keep Manny's innings down. This move definitely gives the Brewers some flexibility at the back of their rotation.
  7. Personally, I'm terrified of how Maddux would fare with the Brewers' defense behind him. I would love Fuentes. He'd be your second lefty, getting Stetter out of town, and he'd be a great "8th inning guy" for Ned to use while pushing Shouse/Villy into 7th inning duty.
  8. C.C. has always been regarded as a great guy, and it definitely looks like the Brewers won't be getting the same treatment the Bucks are getting from Richard Jefferson. Looks like my avatar change a couple days ago didn't jinx it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif As for Cubs fans not being too worried about the trade, they shouldn't be. Even given the events of the past couple weeks (Brewers' hot streak, Cubs struggling a bit), I'd be surprised if the Brewers took control of first place, barring some incredible head-to-head sweep or something. They're still a better team than the Brewers this year, and they basically have a playoff spot guaranteed, whether it's the division crown or the wildcard. From what I saw on NSBB, there's some debate on whether the Brewers could beat out the Mets for a playoff spot, but I won't hold that against the entire fanbase. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif It'd be like them reading the idiotic comments under every Haudricourt blog post and thinking that it's indicative of what Brewer fans actually think. I wish I could join in on the discussion on NSBB, but for some reason I haven't been able to register over there. Regardless, things just got really interesting down the stretch.
  9. Cubs lead 3-1 in the top of the 7th.
  10. Haha...that play was awesome. In and out of Hardy's glove on the liner, but the runner on first started to go back and Nady stopped running out of the box -- easy DP. Everything is bouncing the right way today...hopefully they save some mojo for the Colorado series.
  11. I loved how Nadal literally climbed up to the section where his parents were sitting above the broadcast booth, then walked over the top of the scoreboard to the Royal Box to shake hands with the Spanish royalty that were invited to the match. Back to the ballgame, it looks like Riske's trying to give me a heart attack. Lovely.
  12. I want no part in Burnett -- if he pitches well, he opts out of his contract and becomes a free agent as well. If he pitches poorly, he stays under his current deal and you have to pay him $12 million a year for the next year or two. I'd rather throw TGJ at the Padres for Maddux and get similar production.
  13. Bill Hall wishes he could play the Pirates every day.
  14. Cubs have an early 1-0 lead in St. Louis. The game is on TBS, if you're interested in flipping over during commercial breaks.
  15. This is getting to be hilarious. Everything's falling in.
  16. Crank up the difficulty. This video game is unrealistic. Wait, it's reality? Cool.
  17. Starters have to go 5 for a win, don't they? Billy ties it up...this is going to be a repeat of that Rockies/Marlins game.
  18. Back-to-back doubles to start off an inning are cool. Nice piece of hitting, Corey. Stetter getting loose...I imagine it's too early for a double switch, so Stetter might only pitch one inning.
  19. Yikes, Corey has to go up against David Wright (New York media market) and Pat Burrell (you could argue he's more deserving). It'd be really nice to see Corey go, but it's not going to be easy to get him in.
  20. Can't Suppan come up with the same fake injury Eric Gagne had for a month?
  21. Seeing a 3-run double right after it after being ahead 0-2?
  22. Yesterday's game was done in roughly 2 hours and 15 minutes. It may take us that long to get to the 5th with Suppan and Duke today...ugh.
  23. Braun starts the All-Star game! Way to go, Ryan.
