  1. J.J. EN FUEGO!! Even though he was hitless last night, this is just getting insane.
  2. Before the Baltimore start, Suppan's ERA was at 3.68. Of course, he wasn't pitching particularly well before that start to begin with (lots of unearned runs helping him out).

  4. Braun will most likely make it as a reserve. The only difference is that he might get 1 AB now instead of 2. The AL voting could've been just as bad -- it took a Braun-like push from the Twins and their fans to get Mauer voted in over Jason Varitek, who's hitting .219/.301/.360 this year. Kinsler probably deserved to start ahead of Pedroia, and Jeter's not having an All-Star year, but New York fans are going to make sure that the guy never misses another All-Star game again after the "travesty" of him being left off the team a couple years ago. Webb getting the start probably has a lot to do with Clint Hurdle managing the team and showing respect for one of the best pitchers in his division.
  5. That would be awesome, but I don't think anything could beat Kevin Mench's WWE-style entrance after the Carlos Lee trade. Cameramen literally followed him through the Miller Park hallways as he made his way into the clubhouse. The only thing missing was Jim Ross yelling "My God! That's Kevin Mench's music! Kevin Mench is here tonight!"
  6. A little of both. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Buster Olney and Ken Rosenthal have been saying that a lot of baseball insiders believe Sabathia has made his last start for the Indians. Doug Melvin is threatening to pull LaPorta off the table if the deal isn't done soon. Edit: While it's nice the Cubs lost, would someone tell everybody who works for FSN Wisconsin to stop counting chickens before they've hatched -- especially when Dave Bush is starting this game?
  7. The Oklahoman (OKC's main paper) held a fan contest with a bracket of team names, and that's the one that won. As far as the color scheme goes, I heard they were going for Red, White, and Blue. The fans figured that Oklahoma's known for their nasty storms in the summer, so they decided to vote for "Thunder". I think "Tornadoes" or "Twisters" would've been a better choice, but a lot of people have a negative feeling towards tornadoes in that part of the country (although that didn't seem to stop the Miami or Carolina Hurricanes).
  8. Never underestimate the stupidity of Ned Colletti. This is the same man that made the brilliant signings of Juan Pierre, Andruw Jones, and Jason Schmidt. If I was DM, I'd be trying to swindle him out of Broxton for Craig Counsell because Counsell is such a scrappy gamer.
  9. Over/Under on the number of home runs J.J. Hardy hits tonight -- 2.5. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Hopefully there's a big announcement made sometime during tonight's game. Imagine Brian Anderson pulling a Suzyn Waldman if a Sabathia trade is announced during the game -- "OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS!" Edit: Lineups... 2B Rickie Weeks SS JJ Hardy LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder RF Corey Hart CF Mike Cameron 3B Bill Hall C Jason Kendall P Dave Bush Bill Hall's career numbers against Maholm? 9 for 15, 2 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 1 BB, 0 K http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. I'm ready for it, and I've already changed the avatar to show it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Losing LaPorta would stink, but the way I see it, he has a lower ceiling than Gamel does. I'd be fine with giving Cleveland their eventual Travis Hafner/Ryan Garko replacement if it meant the Brewers would gain another starter that goes deep into games and another couple comp picks. Pull the trigger on the deal and hope the Yankees finish as one of the Top 15 teams in baseball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. Some of the photos I took at the June 22 O's game (section 223 with a pretty average digital camera, so they're not great): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0640.jpg Kevin Millar and Brian Roberts http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0641.jpg Rickie's first game back off the DL, meeting a kid at second base during introductions http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0649.jpg Manny Parra warming up http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0653.jpg Parra delivering a pitch to Adam Jones in the first inning with a runner on first http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0655.jpg Nice shot of Weeks, Hardy, and Braun all on the on-deck circle while Garrett Olsen warms up http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0656.jpg Weeks...his stance looked wider than I remember it being http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0658.jpg Hardy http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0659.jpg Braun (I was tempted to make an attempt at capturing his entire ritual between pitches, but was running low on batteries) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0662.jpg Barely caught the end of Ned's tirade on the ump after Manny wasn't getting any borderline calls. The crowd suddenly perked up between pitches and I didn't realize what was happening until the ump was already starting to walk away. Luckily the camera turned on in time. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/jami34/100_0667.jpg Roof starting to close with rain coming in the area.
  12. BREWERS WIN! They'll be picking up a game on someone tonight, no matter who wins.
  13. The Cubs/Cards game will be on WGN, so everyone gets a chance to see it. It'll be interesting to see how Zambrano pitches after coming off the DL.
  14. Send Villy back out there for the 3-inning save in a 9-1 game. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. At this point, if the Brewers still had Greg Aquino, I'd prefer to see him.
  16. Ben Sheets and Ryan Braun walk in the same inning. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
  17. HARDY SMASH!! Holy freaking crap is he hot!
  18. Nice piece of hitting by Kendall with Sheets on deck. Edit: If you're going to try to take an extra base on a ball that gets away with the pitcher batting and 2 outs, you better be damn sure you're going to make it. Stupid baserunning, again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  19. If you have any kind of a changeup, you can probably strike out Prince Fielder these days. The patience he showed in that AB was a little encouraging, at least.
  20. Okay, now that was dumb. *sigh* Why the heck would you try to steal with Braun up and Fielder on deck, even if those two are slumping? Hardy's not exactly known for blazing speed.
  21. Dude, J.J., where the heck was this the first two months?? He's even taking pitches opposite field now...this is getting ridiculous.
  22. Got out of that little mess with only one run allowed -- the Sheet-out is still alive! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Sign 'Rillo? He looked pretty good in those Brewers Live hitting demos... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
