  1. This was the inning from hell. At least they were able to double up Jose Reyes.
  2. They also called Parra's wild pitch a passed ball. There was no way Kendall was getting that one.
  3. If there was ever a DP candidate, it's Carlos Delgado. Getting 2 here would be nice. Edit: Well they got the grounder. Get the glove on the ground, Prince.
  4. Anyone else hoping that it starts to pour soon and they won't be able to get in 5 innings? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  5. I'm assuming Bill neglected to mention that Reyes hit .300 two years ago when he carried the Mets to the NLCS?
  6. On the bright side, Mets fans are probably wondering why the heck they can't hit a rookie fifth starter they've never heard of, too.
  7. Words cannot describe how much Damion Easley annoys me. 63-year old infielders shouldn't hit that well against the Brewers.
  8. How the heck does Nelson freaking Figueroa get that call?? He's not Greg Maddux...Braun should be standing on first with a walk.
  9. Nice job on that liner by Billy. Beltran ripped that one...made my heart skip a beat thinking it was headed for the outfield and Pagan was going to score.
  10. Apparently it's Bring Your Dog Night at Shea. Nothing like a stadium full of that wet dog smell, huh?
  11. I wonder what ESPN's going to do when their precious Red Sox/Yankees game gets rained out tonight. Edit: Here's the Mets' lineup from Newsday's Mets blog.. Here's the link to the blog if anyone's interested: http://blogs.trb.com/sports/baseball/mets/blog/
  12. No rain yet in New York. I wouldn't be surprised to see the game start on time but get delayed in the early innings...something I really don't want to see with Manny on the mound.
  13. At this point, I'm just thrilled they stayed away from Billy King. Stealing someone away from the Pistons seems to be a great move, and he's been with the team for most of their recent run of success. I think it's safe to say the guy knows how Dumars did it, which is good. Getting Derrick Rose would be a dream, but the Bucks would need to luck out and get a Top 2 pick for that to happen, and even getting #2 overall might not do it if Miami or Seattle/Oklahoma City ends up with the #1 pick.
  14. It's not like there weren't a few close calls...I remember at least two balls that he hit off the fence (one in Chicago and one against San Fran). Once it starts to warm up, those will start flying out. No worries. Up until the Reds series, he was finding ways to help the team score runs without hitting balls 500 feet.
  15. They're still young, though, and both have shown flashes of dominance. Perez's stuff has always been nasty..I wouldn't mind the Brewers pursuing him if he hits the FA market this year as a replacement for Sheets. The only problem with that is that he'll probably get vastly overpaid on the open market because of his potential and the fact that he'll be pretty young for a FA pitcher.
  16. I'm going to avoid making fun of the Mets' starting pitching woes for now. They beat the Brewers with Brian Lawrence last year in the infamous dugout argument game...their fifth starters always seem to give the Brewers trouble. On the topic of the weather, it's probably too early to tell right now if they're going to be able to get a game in, but it's already starting to get cloudy. The rain's not supposed to start until later this afternoon, but once it does it might not stop for awhile. Maybe the Mets should consider tacking on a roof to that new stadium they're building next door.
  17. Lineups, per TH: Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks CF Gabe Gross 1B Prince Fielder LF Ryan Braun 3B Bill Hall RF Corey Hart SS J.J. Hardy RHP Carlos Villanueva C Jason Kendall Reds CF Corey Patterson SS Jeff Keppinger RF Ken Griffey Jr. 2B Brandon Phillips LF Adam Dunn 3B Edwin Encarnacion 1B Scott Hatteberg C Paul Bako RHP Aaron Harang TH isn't crazy about Gross getting the start over Kapler, citing the difference in batting averages. I don't really mind it since it's still early in the season, but the commenters on TH's blog seem to be pretty irate (as usual).
  18. Kind of. The White Sox gave the Phillies Gio Gonzalez (along with Aaron Rowand) for Jim Thome. The next year, he was traded back to the White Sox for Freddy Garcia, which indicated to me that the White Sox thought they had made a mistake giving him up in the first place. However, they then traded him to the A's for Nick Swisher. I'm sure that kind of thing has happened other times too, that's just what came immediately to mind because I thought the sequence of events was strange. I don't think it's a case of acknowledging that you made a mistake as much as it's a case of trading for a player who you already have pretty well scouted. It's less of a gamble to trade for a guy you've already seen with your own two eyes for awhile, in my opinion.
  19. I really, really hate playing the Reds. At least when the Brewers play the Cubs, some good can come out of it. I have nothing but dread when I see Cincinnati on the schedule. Hopefully CV can close out the homestand on a strong note against Harang.
  20. I think they'll be fine once they get the monkey off their backs and win their first game. Starting this road trip is probably the best thing for them, too, so they can get out of the microscope of the home fans' expectations -- even if it does take them through Boston and Cleveland. It's only 6 games, though, and if they have a good couple of weeks, they'll be right back at .500. The Yankees lost a home series to the Rays and the Red Sox got swept in Toronto...crazy stuff happens in the first month sometimes.
  21. I'm mildly surprised that no one's gotten on him for letting Sheets throw the complete game, given his injury history and the fact that it's April. I don't really have a problem with it, but it wouldn't be the worst thing to go the bullpen now, either, with tomorrow being an off day.
  22. Nice slide, Kendall. Estrada might not have made it to third on that one. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. They're keeping the lefty in against Braun? Really? Wasn't Bruce Bochy considered a smart guy back in the day?
  24. It's actually not as bad as you'd think. I was a skeptic at first but I've slowly come around to it. It works better as a mid-afternoon thing, though...there's no replacing the hot stuff in the morning.
  25. Oh man, Braun almost had #3...another one that would've been gone if it was July. At least he got Prince home.
