  1. Even the Cubs lost a game in Washington. It happens. Dust off and move on. Cappy's due. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. What frustrated me about tonight's game was that it easily could have been won if one of the following happened: - Suppan didn't groove a pitch that Kearns hit for a gapper - Tony Gwynn knew how to pick up a rolling baseball (the two times he bobbled balls on the ground tonight made me realize why they never made him an infielder) and kept Ronnie Belliard from going from first to third (!!) - Anyone at all had been able to get on base for Braun or Fielder for *one* of their three combined solo HR's - Ryan Langerhans didn't come out of absolutely nowhere to steal a gapper from Graffy that would have driven in a run.
  3. Damn...that sucks. At least Braun put up a good fight in that last at-bat. Stinks that Prince was left on deck, but I had no problem with Braun swinging away the way he's been hitting lately. Hopefully Cappy bounces back tomorrow and the Crew ends the first half on a good note. On the bright side, tomorrow's the last game of this hellacious road trip.
  4. Good job drawing the walk by Corey. That probably cost him the hitting streak, but the team needs a walk more than a K trying to get a hit right now.
  5. This might be the frustration of one game speaking, but what exactly are Gwynn's redeeming qualities, again?
  6. You know it's been the Road Trip from Hell when even Villy gets hit around. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. The Brewers need a few more hits to give Corey another chance...right now it'll be 4-5-6 in the 8th and 7-8-9 in the 9th.
  8. Part of me thinks that Rickie would be doing better if he wasn't hitting 8th and the opposing pitcher actually had a reason to throw him strikes, but I could be wrong. That catch by Langerhans was just unfair. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  9. Tony, seriously. Learn how to pick up a baseball. It probably didn't matter anyway, but it's frustrating to see Gwynn struggling to pick up balls on the ground.
  10. Well, so much for our hopes of the Cubs losing. 7-0 in the 5th.
  11. Gwynn, I'd appreciate it if you paid attention in centerfield. Thanks.
  12. Even though he didn't get a hit, Rickie's 12-pitch at-bat was encouraging, IMO. Once you start getting longer at-bats, the hits are soon to follow.
  13. Paul Maholm singles with the bases loaded to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second...woohoo!
  14. Hart extends the streak with a triple! Woohoo! This park is huuuuge.
  15. Wow...Ronnie Beergut managed to rumble into second for a double.
  16. Homer for the Hurricane! Early 1-0 leads are always cool.
  17. Phew...I was worried that Gwynn would jump right into the starting lineup and into the leadoff spot. Good to see Ned knows that you don't screw with a player's hot streak.
  18. It was one of the Brewers/Bucs highlights on BBTN (it was basically LaRoche's two homers that were absolutely ripped down the line and Hall's injury), but the camera angle wasn't the greatest and their "Hall injured" graphic on the bottom of the screen pretty much blocked any view of Hall's angle as he landed. It did look like he came straight down from the wall, though...it wasn't a graceful landing, so I could definitely see how he sprained his ankle. Hopefully it's on ESPNEWS over the next day or so, but leave it to ESPN to put a shiny computer graphic over the action of the replay. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. I like to see every member of the team make an effort to get an out if they think they have a play on it. I'd rather have them try and fail than seeing them not try at all. It just so happens Hall got hurt when he was trying to make a play...that kind of thing happens all the time in sports. It definitely bites, but there's not much anyone could have done about it. You could ask the same question about Corey Koskie last year, IMO. Every so often someone's going to get hurt trying to make a play. You just hope the injury doesn't scare them away from trying to make a play in the future.
  20. Late in the game it came out that he has a sprained right ankle...not sure if there's a link anywhere, though, since Jim Powell said it during the broadcast of the game. Sprains are tricky...he might be ready to play sometime this weekend, but with the All-Star break coming up, I wouldn't count on it. A DL stint is unlikely, but if he's not ready to go by the time the All-Star break is over, they can always put him on the DL retroactive to July 6 and call up Gwynn for a week or whatever. Definitely stinks since Hall was starting to heat up, but since the Brewers face a righty for 2 of the 3 Washington games, they can use Gross in centerfield without much worry.
  21. The Brewers face a lefty to start the Washington series -- Mike Bacsik. The other two starters in the series are Jason Simontacchi and Mike Redding.
  22. Could've been worse...at least they got the first game. Now they can get away from the PNC Park from Hell and Furry-infested hotels.
  23. Leadoff single is a good start. Just stay out of the DP, Mench.
