  1. Can we stop with these screwy shifts starting tomorrow? Please? I think it's been pretty well established that the Pads can go to the opposite field as well as anyone else in the league...why leave Braun and Jenkins as the only two defenders on the left side?
  2. Alright...third hit on the night for Brauny.
  3. Team really lacks fundamentals lately. We needed to get Braun in from 2nd last inning with nobody out. We're not going to break out of this slump until we start showing better fundamentals. To be fair, JJ really crushed that lineout to short but Blum was right there, and Prince tried to go the other way but ended up keeping Braun from advancing on the groundout. I have no defense for Johnny Estrada -- I was terrified that he'd pop out on the first pitch and that's exactly what he did.
  4. Third hit of the game for some bum named Rob Bowen. The Brewers cannot get out of California fast enough. Quoth Bill -- "That pitch was in a good spot, just up in the zone." Isn't "up in the zone" the definition of a bad spot, Bill?
  5. Well, good job by the young guys in getting the game close in the end, but it's another bad luck loss -- there's no way Kouzmanoff should have even gotten a chance to hit that grand slam...Bard was out on the check swing, and that should've ended the inning. Bush didn't have a great night, but he was one strike away from getting out of that jam. With that said, Braun definitely didn't disappoint in his debut...a double and 2 RBI definitely isn't a bad start. Got unlucky on a couple more of the balls he hit (the first inning flyout to deep CF and the screamer he hit down the RF line being backhanded by Gonzalez). I'm definitely excited for what the offense is capable of with him in the lineup.
  6. Nice job by Wise to get through that inning 1-2-3. Here's to hoping Rickie gets on to lead off the inning.
  7. Go get 'em against Hoffman...Wise just has to hold the deficit to 2 and I think we're in good shape.
  8. Spurling has been unexpectedly solid lately, sans the HR he gave up earlier tonight.
  9. Oh wow...Jenks didn't even look at the ump and he got tossed. And there goes Ned...wow.
  10. Wow...Prince crushed that one. Shame no one was on base.
  11. Congrats on career RBI #1 Ryan! Hopefully they can chip away at this lead...maybe by the 8th they'll be close. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  12. Yikes. Edit: Spurling is finally ready after a grand slam. Figures.
  13. Brewers have had some bad luck on offense so far...the Padres are using some drastic shifts on Prince, Rickie just missed a 2-run HR, and Braun just missed hits his first couple times up.
  14. Brauny hit that first one pretty well.
  15. Wasn't expecting to see Braun hitting second tonight, but at least we'll get to see him in the first inning and he should get 4-5 ABs.
  16. Only 22 hours until game time!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. Well, at least we're going split the season series against a playoff caliber team...there's a little slice of optimism.
  18. Brad Penny has been more lucky than good tonight.
  19. While it's easy to complain about Hardy not being in the lineup, it's seemed to me like he's needed a day or two off for awhile. He was 1-4 last night and something like 0-5 the night before...a couple days off couldn't hurt. Like everyone else, I'm just hoping it doesn't hamper the offense too much.
  20. Bummer. Ben pitched too well to deserve a loss...that unearned run really bites.
  21. Nice couple innings by Spurling...he's really settled down lately. Oh my God...what's wrong with Ann Carroll's eyes in the post game show preview. I swear she blinked at least 12 times per second throughout the entire 30 second spot.
  22. This game feels like every other West Coast road trip game the past few years...crazy mishaps in the field, quick groundouts, a few bad pitches beating the team in the long run, etc. Hopefully this turns around as it's still early, but this just feels like one of those games.
