  1. Scott Proctor wins it for the Braves!
  2. Loe: woefully misused this year, but he has blown enough games, so he qualifies. McGehee: has outlived his usefulness as a major leaguer, imo. Counsell: same reasons as McGehee Hart: can't really put my finger on it, but he annoys me. I can't forgive him for his epic swoon in Sept/Oct 2008. Betancourt: I don't think I need to say anything.
  3. I would say no, but if game 55 is Game 6 of the World Series and they absolutely need him to close, they'll do it. I like this deal because it by and large limits the amount of damage that RRR can do in late innings. Kameron Loe shouldn't see any high leverage innings anymore.
  4. All three games of the Cubs-White Sox series have failed to sell out -- there have been about 5,000 unsold tickets for each game. If that stat doesn't speak volumes about the oversaturation of "natural" rivalry games during interleague play, I don't know what does. Granted, both teams are not very good, but the TB-MIL series outdrew the intracity series by a healthy margin.
  5. From Haudricourt's Twitter: MLB was rid of umpire Bob Davidson once and let him back in. So, shame on MLB. Why would you let a bad ump back into the game? Good question.
  6. It's a shame that Davidson will face no punishment for such a terrible call.
  7. Bob Davidson is an idiot. Wasn't he the same guy who threw out the fan last year?
  8. Well, Rickie sure is having himself a terrible game.
  9. It did for the day/night DH in 2008. That was particularly brutal because Game 1 was on FOX at 4 pm, and they had to clear the entire stadium for the second game, an 8:35 first pitch. The neighborhood was chaotic between games. Friday ticketholders could use their tickets for the 8:35 game. I imagine there will be a 1 pm/7 pm DH on Saturday, with the Friday tickets good for the 7 pm game.
  10. I hope you're watching this, RR. Kameron Loe isn't the elite set-up man that you think he is.
  11. I flipped on Versus and saw the scene from downtown Vancouver: an overturned car, engulfed in flames.
  12. Not to mention robbing Prince of a grand slam on Sunday Night Baseball in 2009. And sliding into first base in 2008, causing Yo to tear his ACL.
  13. I really wonder if Casey has outlived his usefulness. We discovered a diamond in the rough and got two nice years from him. At some point, Melvin has to cut his losses.
  14. I was watching CNBC and they were reporting from Wrigley for some reason. The rain is really coming down hard right now.
  15. For the love of God, RR. Everything I wanted to say has pretty much been repeated. I don't think I'd ever attempt a squeeze with a pitcher, especially. It seems like the squeeze worked magically one time, so RR has been using it ad nauseum lately.
  16. How terrible is 1250? I tuned in earlier and heard Tim Allen say, "This is the Brewers first sweep of the Cardinals since 2007." Uhh...it's happened three times since then, all at Busch.
  17. Can't say I'm surprised. Loe sucks and I'm sure Axford's luck will evaporate sometime soon.
  18. Thank God we never have to play in that stadium again. That place is just depressing.
  19. I should be there Tuesday night.
  20. Finally, is it easy to tour Fenway? Do you make reservations in advance, how much should I be looking to spend on that? Thanks! The tour is $10-$12 per person, iirc. They'll take you into an area near the luxury boxes, atop the Green Monster and into the left field grandstand. The tour guides are generally extremely knowledgable and passionate about the Red Sox, but you won't get any "behind the scenes" looks at Fenway. No doubt that it's interesting, but I wouldn't make it a priority if you're already going to games.
  21. The Riverfront Brewery tour is walkable on a nice day. And you'll drink a lot of beer for $7. It's better than Sprecher and Miller ... more to see and more to drink. If you want a nice, expensive steak dinner, check out Milwaukee Steak House (62nd & Bluemound ... close to the stadium) or 5 O'Clock Club (23rd & State). The best pancakes/breakfast in the city, IMO, is Broken Yolk on 20th & Wisconsin. If you like Mexican food, check out the restaurants in the Walkers Point neighborhood. I'd expect the area around your place (3rd Street/Water St.) to be pretty wild after midnight, after Summerfest closes.
