  1. I woudn't say the Brewers were hot on the road some much as they played a generally bad SF team and then got some very timely hits in STL after wasting a lot of opportunities. The Houston series is at least as distressing as this in terms of the big picture view of this team. As bad as Atlanta is at present with injuries and now no Texieria, a weekend series loss to teh Braves (including a loss on teh FOX Saturday game) would be a very bad omen for the rest of the year.
  2. All 4,000 Brewer fans at the game should get up and walk out to show their disappointment.
  3. Maybe Manny should have been left in for offensive purposes.
  4. At least the next road series isn't in Pittsburgh. If I had to see Jack Wilson beat this team with an inside-the-park HR, and then watch McClouth put up 7 RBI the next night, I'd probably fall into a deep depression.
  5. YOu left off avoiding sweep with Bush on teh mound.
  6. Hart has morphed into a truly poor outfielder. ANgles are awful.
  7. If Manny hits for the cycle they have a shot.
  8. This is what you get when you have a team built around SLG but without the OBP to make it really worthwhile.
  9. At this point I'm just hoping for another WP.
  10. Well, a loss tonight and a bad start tomorrow could lead to a number of late afternoon firings at offices all across Wisconsin.
  11. The seats right behind the plate are more often than not occupied by non-Brewer fans. I don't think I've ever seen the same people there more than twice. I don't know who 'owns' those seats, but it seems to me that the club should just take control of them if they are in the hands of some absentee corporation or something similar.
  12. You can call that hit lucky, but that kind of luck seems to bless those with good approaches more than those who lack that skill.
  13. Absolutely horrible. Let's give up a blast now just to make the thread interesting for the rest of the night.
  14. 669-1 on DTV is rated TV-MA for me and my parentla channel blocker popped up. LOL. Gues thy heard the language last night
  15. One way to keep the Cubs fans out, or probably lower their nubmers, might be to have the series on a weekend. Those of us who are 3+ hours from the park can't get down there on most weeknights. Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, LaCrosse, Eau Claire, Appleton and Wausau are pretty good baseball towns and the people from these parts like going down to MP. I understand the Brewers don't control the schedule. And I understand that in the past having the Cub sereies during the week was a good idea for attendance purposes, because weekend games always fill the park pretty well regardless of opponent, while MTW series can be iffy. Probably won't do much to stem the more disturbing tide of all teh CUb fans down low, because we aren't season ticket holders up here for the most part, but it would probably help to get at least a few more Brewer fans in the rest of the park.
  16. Well, I've posted it before: At the very least, keep the tickets down low right behind the plate off the market. Donate them to local Little Leagues, Legion Ball teams, Boys and Girls Clubs, Scouts, etc. Just let the recipients know that if red jerseys, or shirts with C's on them show up on TV, they're done receving tix. The revenue lost in not selling them is offset in terms of not having your most visible seats being filledway too often by fathers and sons wearing matching opposing jerseys whooping it up as you lose.. Hard to do things about your fickle home fan base in total, but at least keep those first three rows right behind the plate from being a continual embarrasment in terms of the TV broadcast. THis isn't just the Cubs games. It's the Reds and Cards and others, too.
  17. Isn't the fact that it is worse because it is happening at Miller Park at least somewhat related to the fan situation? Otherwise, why would it matter where you're getting beat? It's an outright humiliation to a fan base to be run out of your own park by opposing fans.
  18. The Cub fans want it more.
  19. The last two non-HR runs have involved Prince and Branyan scoring from first. Brewer version of run manufacturing.
  20. The "best story" far too often = "the easy story". The Cubs are an easy story, in part because they are a big market team. The Brewers are a hard story because, to get the same number of eyes on the subject matter, you need something that will grab the attention of the people out side of Wisconsin. I don't really care abou the coverage, other than that it is somewhat related to what is objectively important, not what is subjectively important to the biggest share of the market. And another big thanks to all the sellouts for turning the home park into a laughingstock.
  21. If only we had Winkelsas for garbage time innings like these.
  22. The only reason the Brewers have any temporary media relevance on a national scale is because it ties into a race with teh Cubs. The Brewers are, in and of themselves, irrelevant nationally. They are a young, exciting, neatby foil for the darling Cubs. The 5 million people in the Wisconsin media market are irrelevant to the national media. A Cubs/Rays series would be a media godsend. A Brewers/Rays series would be met with yawning indifference and even open contempt in some quarters. To equate the media attention the Crew recieves with that the Cubs receive is about as laughable as the notion that the 'unbiased' media don't root for certain teams and outcomes.
  23. The view from the center field camera is infuriating, and it has almost nothing to do with the action on the field.
  24. All I really want is the Brewers to hit a homer, because that is what is important.
